Installing a new rear Bodyguard bumper on my 2021 JTR Gladiator and my sensors were all a real pain to get unplugged. That's why I found your video to see exactly how to unplug the darn things but mine were nowhere near as easy as yours, but I finally worked them loose without breaking anything. I found no good examples anywhere else, so I appreciate you doing this video for people.

Great job guys. We have been battling that same stealth Bumper in our shop we put them on 2 different 4Xe's both caused us grief. We didnt get so lucky on our first try. Well done keep them coming.

I have these same problems on my ADD Stealth Fighter front and rear bumpers for my 2020 1500 Ram. Thanks for this video, as it gives me ideas on how I can troubleshoot my sensors.

When you clocked the side outer rings 180 degrees, did you also flip the internal locking ring from driver to passenger side and vice versa? That would keep the sensor wire connection tab and sensor itself aligned from the inside of the bumper like factory.

This vid answered a lot of questions for me, thank you. I'm building my own bumper and I have one other question. Will those plastic sensor keepers hold tight in a 1/4 inch thick bumper or is that too thick?
@PlatinumOffRoad4 жыл бұрын
That will be too thick. A trick you can try is trim back the little guide fins to the thickness of the plating and use them to act like retainer clips.. if that makes sense. Let me know how it works out! Thank you for the feedback!

Question: I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL. Putting on a steel bumper to replace the factory bumper. I successfully removed all (4) sensors and respective parts; however, the order of the sensors themselves got mixed up (as far as: far left, center left, center right, far right). Are the sensors themselves interchangeable? Can they go in any of the sensor locations on the bumper?
@PlatinumOffRoad9 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response, and I'm sure you've already discovered that they are not location specific. The guides are however, and can actually be modified and moved in a manner that allows for better positioning, with certain aftermarket bumpers.
@TireSmokin15 жыл бұрын
um, there is a second battery on the JL for the start stop "feature", so even though you disconnected the main battery there is still 12v live feed in the electrical system while you worked on this.
@PlatinumOffRoad5 жыл бұрын
Yeah we service dealerships in the area and we verified the precautions for this system. Even if you have the system unplugged and the primary battery is connected, a fault code will appear. Disconnecting the primary for a few minutes will reset the system should this fault arrise.. which it did. This led us to remove the primary connection and work on the backup system. Thanks for the wise input!

I am about to do the same for my gladiator I wonder if I’ll have the same sensor detecting issue since we don’t have a tire carrier in the sensor path.

Hi great vid, can you do a vid on the front bumper...sensors and cruise control .
@PlatinumOffRoad5 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the support and feedback! We honestly shoot these videos during the winter season (our slow season, plus a ton cooler) and do videos as we encounter a challenge in the shop that we feel KZbin could use better content, or nothing exists on it yet. Are you having a specific issue? And are you somewhat near north Texas?

Looks like the sensors when installed stick out pass the bumper. Is there a concern of backing into a rock and damaging a sensor?
@PlatinumOffRoad5 жыл бұрын
That seems to come with the territory of having a bumper with sensors. They stick out on the OE bumper and as long as factory sensors and housings are used... I guess that will be the way it is unfortunately.

Hi, I have a 2018 JL. I recently installed fab four off road bumper and I have the same issue with the rear parking censors. Could you tell me which parking censor housing you used in this video, and where to buy it? Thank You.
@PlatinumOffRoad5 жыл бұрын
Hey Alex, we used the OE factory guides. The sensors come out with three pieces (incl the sensor themselves) and all we did was rotate the outer sleeve and the swap the inner sleeve so that the tabs reached eachother at the new position.

Alex, I went with a GoRhino Rockline rear bumper and had the same issue. I have a 2018 Sahara with plastic bumper so I ordered new bezels and brackets to use with my existing sensors because another Sahara owner said the bezels were heat molded into the bumper. I basically used this video for my guide on sensor setup. Here are the parts you need. Ordered from www.allmoparparts.com Here are the part numbers. I ordered from All Mopar. 6MH84RXFAB Bezel, RIGHT $2.42 6MH85RXFAB Bezel, LEFT $2.42 6MH82RXFAB Bezel, RIGHT $2.42 6MH83RXFAB Bezel, LEFT $2.42 68295601AB Bracket, LEFT $1.61 68295600AB Bracket, RIGHT $1.61 68295602AB Bracket, RIGHT $1.61 68295603AB Bracket, LEFT $1.61

Awesome info Patriot222!! We hope this video can be used across the board with other manufactured bumpers. All have the same concept when it comes to the sensor issues. Sounds like you nailed your fix!!

@@antifederalist22 - Thank you Patriot222!! I have a 2019 Sahara with a plastic bumper as well and knew that the sensor mounts had to be different. I have a "BodyGuard" bumper on the way and because of YOUR research, I can order the sensor mounts in advanced as well. I hope to resolve my sensor issue with this new bumper.

What happens if you don’t return the sensors to the same order as OEM, and switch them up?
@PlatinumOffRoad Жыл бұрын
Sensors themselves are the same across the bumper. The difference is the guides. The steel factory Rubi bumper has the guides you will need and they are in multiple pieces, all having a different part #. To move a sensor from one connector to the other won't cause any harm.

I just bought a 2021 JL Rubicon but been having a message popping up randomly then goes away that says “Rear sensors unavailable wipe rear sensors.” Have a service appt scheduled for 1.5 months out but would anyone know what would cause this? Was thinking maybe its a loose connection or dirty but I’ve wiped the outside of the sensors really good. Thinking it could be either the connection or a bad sensor. Backing up seems fine, no error messages. Your thoughts?
@PlatinumOffRoad2 жыл бұрын
My guess would be wiring connection or faulty sensor.
@ekinuyar6 ай бұрын
How do you reset the system if it notices that the sensors replaced?
@PlatinumOffRoad6 ай бұрын
I've not ran into that problem. These are simple-minded sensors. Once a sensor circuit is corrected, the dash will immediately stop sounding off a warning. Just my experience in chasing down sensor circuit issues on these.

Where did you get the bumper??

We got it through one of our parts accounts. This model is from Addictive Desert Designs (ADD) and it's their Stealth Fighter series.
