Over the 4th of July Weekend, our good friends Tina and Adam came out to visit Cindy and I and being that we just got our Jeep JL Wrangler outfitted with an all new EVO High Clearance Long Arm System and King Coilovers, we decided to use the opportunity to take it out and put it to the test. Fortunately, we have big rocks just down the street and it didn't take long for us to get all twisted up. In this short video, you'll get to see how our JL performed and we hope you enjoy what you see.

This flex test with slow rock crawl shows how the lift and different suspension components work and complement each other to keep the suspension geometry in symmetry to the power plant. Learnt a lot and understood why a long control arm is required for such a lift, Thanks Eddie, yet another great video!

Impressive. I was looking at the EVO coilover kit, but it annoys me that they won’t share any technical information about their products whatsoever. Not shock length, spring rate, or anything. If you make the best product, you aren’t afraid of others stealing your secrets. You hope they do. It only helps your brand.

That's a great setup. So can you breakdown what's installed on the JL now Eddie. Also does it drive better or worse on pavement than your JK?
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
Suspension wise, we are now running an EVO high clearance long arm system with their 2.5 King bolt-on coilovers. For steering, we're running Synergy. Regarding how it drives on pavement goes, the long arms alone make both ride outstanding and we have our coilovers dialed in to make it better than stock or at least, in our opinion.

Great vid. I still don't know how you go from Moby with 40's and a V8 to a Jeep that is less than that. Not to say the JL isn't well equipped as its built way further than most. I think this is the first time I have seen you have any damage. I have always loved that your builds are so well done that you are never the one breaking down. I say this is a minor thing and on something like a Nitto experience it wouldn't have even made the video. I have done worse backing into a parking stall.

It should be noted that the bolt on coilovers for a JL is a LOT different than the JK one. The one for the JK is nice but the amount of travel you get overall and especially in the rear isn't as great as what you see on the JL.

What can you do for more protection around that rear portion of the bumper area? As it's not a traditional truck and bumper it seems like that area is prone to getting damaged.

@@wayalife Yeah I have a JK I am going to keep for a few more years and wish I could do something for more power. I saw a beautiful loaded with all the upgrades 2013 with a hemi and low miles I was so tempted for 49k. Good to know I'll maybe wait for the 80th anniversary model since i have the 70th :)

@@djuell01 The power you get from a V8 is nice but the trade off is that you will have overheating issues to deal with.

@@wayalife Thanks for your response. First world problems you know. We'll see if they come out with the bigger engines in the Gladiator or not soon. I hear the rumors. I am sure you do too. Can't wait to see what you do with yours.

I wonder if running a anti-rock like sway bar in the rear would help keep the body more level on the crazy flexy stuff?
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
Nope, it would just limit flex and pitch you to the side. The JK you see in the video has an Antirock in the rear and you can clearly see where it doesn't stuff nearly as well on multiple occasions.

i AM surprized you dont have a rear bumper!! A nice short one tucked into the rear would of saved that rear corner. Otherwise your rig is working very well, impressed with the travel of those coilover shocks. CHEERS Steve h.

Not really a fan and have never had the need for one on our JK's. The JL is proving to be different.

Do you remember how the space between your bump stops? I think the shop put ours (evo long arm) in too close to the rubber

Do you need front locking hubs if you have a front locker? Which front locker do u run again? ARB? New jeep guy here again.
@wayalife
@wayalife 4 жыл бұрын
Differential lockers and locking hubs are two separate things and you don't need one in order to have the other. We are still running a factory rear axle so we have the factory e-locker in it. Up front, we're now running a ProRock 44 and have an ARB in it.

We run a 2016 JK with a Tera44 front axle, 4.56 gears, Eaton Lockers, Fox shocks, and 35” tires. We are still a bit intimidated by some of the more challenging trails as we want to avoid unnecessary body damaged. Hate to see yours get banged up, but guess it is part of the overall experience. Do you perform your own body repairs?
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
While I am capable of doing my own body repairs, something like this wouldn't be worth it to me. It'd probably cost about $500 to get fixed and the shop I use would do a better job than me.

hows the ride quality on the street with the coilovers compared to stock? and how does this compare to the DTD on the JK??thanks..
@wayalife
@wayalife 5 жыл бұрын
Ride quality is 100% subjective but in my opinion, the ride I now have is better than stock on pavement. I always felt stock was a bit too bouncy. The way I have my DTD setup on my JK, it rides similar but it's a custom setup as in, what you get out of the box will be different. But then, that's the beauty of coilovers and bypass shocks. They cost a lot but you can get them the way you want.
