Have had a tuffy security lid in my jk for about 3 years. After that, I have come across issues that I found. Love the product, will not lie, I drilled some holes and mounted some I bolts to use to tie my cooler or supplies down. Now the issues is the sides, is a rectangle that sits between the wheel wells. A lot of dead space it creates on the sides. I felt like they should of put some extra metal to cover the wells so you could set stuff on top. Like alittle pocket. Second was the lid, it looks like for the JL they added a brace to hold it up. That’s what the jk needed, overall. I’d recommend this thing to anyone. I had mine in a 2 door. Removed my seat, and worked perfect. Had enough room in the middle, had a some camping gear mounted up to that portion.

The unlock buttons are on the doors. When you're running topless, there are no buttons to unlock the tailgate. With the doors on, a thief would still need to get inside your Jeep and hopefully, that would set off the alarm. Either way, the deck for me isn't meant to serve as a safe, just something to help make it harder for thieves to just grab my stuff and go.

@wayalife6 жыл бұрын
We typically run doorless when we're running topless. The door lock buttons are on the doors and without them, there are no buttons to press unlock. Even with the doors on, a would be thief would have to open the doors or climb into the front seats to press said buttons and I would hope that would trigger the alarm. For me, the deck is not intended to be a safe but rather, just make it a lot harder for a would be thief to reach in, grab my stuff and go. In other words, it's just a deterrent.

@@Travcity1 The two nylon straps with Velcro that came with my JL work just fine to hold my soft top down with the Tuffy box. I strap the top frame to the roll bars when my top is down. Never an issue even at 80 mph on the interstate or slow on the trails

How does this metal box vibrate with the sub. What happened to the sound quality . How much rattle is there from the vibrations of metal on metal with a 12in sub firing right there?
@wayalife3 жыл бұрын
I don't hear or feel any vibrations with this deck. Sound quality seems to be the same to me.

if someone gets in from top cant they just unlock the back door?
@wayalife6 жыл бұрын
Green Rush try it. Lock your doors with the key FOB and then try to unlock the them without it. You can’t.

I know they've changed the design a bit on the JK since I got mine way back in the day but it is my understanding that it is just as easy.

@@wayalife hey i forget but i thought on moby you had the evo trail table does that fit with the Tuffy Security Deck?

Hi Eddie.. About to get the Tuffy Security Lid. I have 2 questions. 1. Are you able to lock the soft top when it's folded? 2. Do you have a discount code for this?
@wayalife4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, don't have a discount code and no, I don't think the soft top will lock in place with it folded down.

I know this is a year old but I have a question for you Eddie or anyone else that has one. I have an ARB compressor and bracket right behind the rear drivers side seat. My question is do you think that gap everyone is complaining about is enough to clear the compressor?

dumb question if door are installed and you hit the unlock switch doesn't the rear gate unlock?
@wayalife4 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question but it is one that I've answered countless times already, the last of which was just a couple of posts down. In short, no. Don't believe me, try it! Use your FOB to lock the doors, place it inside your house or safely away from your Jeep and then try to unlock the doors by pushing on the button just as you have described. You can't.

Can you tell me how is it secure if someone can just reach in and unlock the door on the door switch and open the tailgate? Is there a trick or way to prevent this?
@wayalife3 жыл бұрын
As I've mentioned multiple times now, try it. Lock your doors with your key FOB, put it inside your house, go back outside and try to do what you just described. You can't.

Is there a way to manually open the tailgate from inside the vehicle? Say someone broke inside?

So long as you make sure to lock your doors using your key FOB, no.

I really enjoy your install videos. Keep them coming!! Do you think there will still be enough space to install a twin Arb compressor using the M.O.R.E mount? BTW what do you use to air up? Any information will be helpful. Thank’s in advance.
@wayalife6 жыл бұрын
Sorry, not sure I'd know the answer to that being that I don't have either. For now, I've been using a cheap Smitybilt compressor to air up.

I have this and the more mount. Works fine. You will need a 90 degree NPT elbow for the hose connection

Very cool, but if someone gets in the jeep and unlocks the power door locks, can't they just open the back gate and access your valuables behind the Tuffy security deck?

@sickjohnson We typically run doorless when we're running topless.

I don't have a recline kit so I couldn't tell you for sure but there is enough room behind the seat that I still store a few things between it and the deck.
