It sure what these are worth in USA, but over here in Australia, Tasmania actually, they're $4000-8000 AU , I just picked one up yesterday for $700 with registration, thousands in receipts for new glow plugs, injectors, tyres, sensors, suspension, all sorts really.... But the owner had enough when it wouldn't start one morning ( cranked, but no fire ), I bought it, towed it home (100km) on tilt tray, got her home, and she fired right up!!!! Drive her about 160kms on about 1/8th of a tank of fuel, and so far can't fault a thing, even tho over 300,000kms (186,000 miles)... I'm interested to follow your series and builds and check all this stuff on mine and see if it makes a power difference, etc, great show, subscribed and love it. Much Aussie respect

I done mine on a voyager with 2.8 in the uk it drives about the same but the oil stays a lot cleaner which is a good thing for the engine.

Just an FYI if you look on lost jeeps forum you can disable the egr by plugging one vacuum line on 02-05 liberty CRD2.8 no program needed. and you dont even have to do that, just put the tune in and it disables the EGR anyway. but do clean the map sensor on the top of the intake manifold as it will be clogged. only real mod you should do is do the oil separator (easy) and if your gifted clean all the gunk out of the elbow leading to the intake. Be warned some of the more aggressive tunes are too much for the gearbox and tail-shaft and you get the shudder rattle from the auto and tailshaft. And be prepared for the sound of your engine to sound more like a diesel. The best tunes they got are the ones for economy but you still get a nice bump in power when you put your foot into it. probably gonna have to clean the inter-cooler too

Just for your information, you don't have to buy a delete kit. I made my own. And the plug the goes to the heat exchanger is a 12mm x 1.5, you use a 8mm allen wrench to remove the nipple. I took the heat exchanger, egr, hoses to exchanger all off and as far as the flapper valve I went to my exhaust shop and bought a piece of 2.5" stainless elbow and had the put a bead at the end to hold the hose on. Made a plate on the lathe drilled the holes and welded it together for $60.

+paul scott you don't have to really do anything besides the tune to shut off this egr system, we blocked ours off for like $5 just because there was a small leak.

Getting ready to do my jeep liberty 2.8 , bought MPP 12v.03 when I downloaded the program from TOAD it said I had to boy a different Cable ELM 327 when you went to total car did you download programming or a tune

hello!! great video man. I'm not a mechanic but I can do the block off plate to the egr pipe on my own. is this enough just to save my engine from hot air and gain a bit of power or I have to do the whole removal of parts? I remember in a Mitsubishi I did the plate ant ecu and was ok. thanks !!

Engine air filter element and boost pressure solenoid. This are everywhere in the maintainance manual online. Can you show how these are replaced. Where to find them. Will you do videos on this simple stuff to?

can you remove the cooler and leave the egr working for emisions? or disabled via tune, but with easy enable back in case of inspection?... i don't want to block anything because it will make it difficult for me to remove. thanks

I live in Florida where we have no safety or emissions inspections. I'm planning on moving to the Ithaca area and I am concerned about passing emissions inspection with my Sasquatch stage one. How has your experience been? I know diesels are cleaner and safer for air quality but my father gave me this truck because the state of Virginia would not pass it with a stage one kit installed... How invasive is NY?

EGR increases smog. It decreases Nitorgen dioxide. Install methanol injection and all the soot problems are solved. And will pass all tests

You might need to clean your turbo sensor! They get messed up quickly with the EGR working. You can just unplug the maf sensor on air box to kill EGR. What I did. Anyone looking for a one owner out there looking to get this sold and pick up a new truck.

The egr valve let's in exhaust gases I to the engine intake, this has small carbon partuclites you often see in diesel exhaust and over time it clogs the intake, as we also get some oil in the intake as well this causes a goopy sticky carbon deposit in the intake and reduced performance and shortens engine life (theoretically) thanks for watchin hope this helps!

@@johnturpin8826 yeah def worth deleting we made another video on how to use a free tune that's already free online, there is a company that also does them green diesel engineering and they have very positive reviews, with a proper tune and a functioning egr the tune would be all you need, removing the actual egr is benificial if the system is experiencing a problem and causing a check engine light or leaking coolant. The quick method (will cause a check engine light) is to unplug the maf sensor and that will shut down the egr from opening.

Somebody please help me .... 4 months ago I bought a 06 Liberty CRD .... check engine light came on .... took to dealer who said the codes are turbo "under boost" and "over boost" they said turbo is bad cost to replace the turbo for $3,000 ... what is your opinion .... other issues are white smoke and mis-firing or going into "limp mode" HELP!

Sorry to hear your having trouble with your CRD the dealers honestly don't know $hit about the diesels if the turbo is in fact bad you should be able to take the intake off the turbo and feel if the shaft is loose, I would guess that the issue is the MAP sensor as a cheap option to try. Also there is a page on Facebook called Liberty CRD with many members that are super knowledgeable and also travel to work on these jeeps. Another good resource is lostjeeps.com. We made a couple other video with lots of info about these jeeps as well. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Do not rely on Dealerships! I would ask someone in your area that likes jeeps and diesels. Turbo job is not that hard on these actually. Much easier than say replacing front struts!

+Brett Gib seeing it is a 06, timing belt would be a good place to start if it hasn't been done yet. Manufacture recommends every 100,000 miles or every 6 years,whichever is first. EGR Delete or weeks kit is also a common upgrade to increase engine life. We have a video of how to do this install as well as the timing belt and more. A good website with a bunch of information on these crd's is lostjeeps.com Sam's crd noob guide is a must read for new crd owners. Hope this helps!

Unplug the MAF in the airbox and the EGR will no longer open. You will set a check engine code though without the tune.

+Lit Garage we actually noticed a decrease in power after the delete. I cleaned the map sensor I think it may have been clogged and causing an over boost issue. There are free stage 2 and stage 3 tunes to get more power if your feeling brave. We're comfortable with the base delete tune for now until we do a timing belt.

You can also electronically delete the EGR by unplugging the MAF sensor on the airbox. It just keeps it shut off because it doesn't have an airflow reference.

The ecu required a file or "tune" to not set off the check engine light, there is a link in the description of the video that has a list of the free tunes available as well as a link to the cable needed to upload the necessary file to the ECU. I hope this helps!

I've been getting errors related to MAF, MAP, and barometric pressure for a long time. No mechanic I took it to had any idea why I kept getting those codes despite having replaced and cleaned sensors (e.g., MAP, MAF, boost solenoid), and there were no tears or leaks anywhere. I finally took it to the dealer and they said I need to clean and/or replace the EGR valve; they quoted me over $1K for replacement this afternoon. I can do minor car jobs, but I don't feel confident to do everything that I saw in your video. What do you think are some good options that won't break the bank for me?
