You were spot on my friend. I positioned my Jeep in my drive way, removed the cap and air came out. Took about a quarter more of fluid. I turned on the vehicle, let the fluid bubble over and placed the cap on. IT FIXED THE ISSUE!!! Thank you for the vid.

I just changed my radiator hoses to the mishimoto hoses and I’ve never had an overheat problem. No leaks. But as soon as I did that and let it run for a little bit aka idle, I saw it went up a little past the middle. I thought it might be air pockets and I need to get those out and I loss a bit of coolant haha. Thanks for the video though! Helped a lot actually!! I have a Sahara too haha so anyone with a Sahara I like their jeep the best haha :) great video with details!

Thanks partner. I’ve been experiencing the same in my 13. We’re going to try this later today. Temps have been over 100 lately. I was thinking that I needed an aftermarket hood to allow the engine from heat soaking due to high temps. That will happen later. This solution is more cost effective. 🙏🏻 Stay safe.

If your host from the radiator is hot up top but cool hose at the bottom be sure to get the computer codes if you do get a check engine light, pressure test next to also make sure… stay safe you and Jeep!

The 2013 JK, (I own one), has heat issues too, even with new cats. I just found a huge, (but very inexpensive issue to fix), problem with the thermostat, and it is an easy fix. 1st, It uses a 203 def. F. thermostat. It fits inside of the plastic housing (for the radiator hose), and I just tested the assembly, in water, bringing it to a boil, (220 deg. F.) in a pot on my kitchen stove. I get it to 200 deg, watching it, and it barely moves, (does not open). The problem is a gap of about .25" between the end of the plunger rod, and plastic of the housing is inserted to. The rod has to move .25" before it starts opening up the valve, and because of the way the rubber seat is designed, it still has to move .100" more to even open up. It is the pressure in the engine e block that opens it up, and it does not flow enough water to keep the engine cool. When it gets hot enough to possibly cause some engine damage, the engine management system starts to shut the engine down so it can't produce more heat and boil over. Now the mechanics will replace all the sensors that get tripped,---and that is because the poorly engineered/manufactured thermostat does not have a sensor to trip. All you have to do to fix it is put a .250" long(approx), piece of metal rod between the end of the plunger rod of the thermostat and the plastic that it bottoms out on in the housing, where the end of the rod slips into,--fill the open gap, and the valve will open all the way. I would make it long enough so you can feel it when putting the thermostat in the housing, and have to compress it just a bit to fully seat. Then put on the spring and strap,---and the engine will at least cool as it was suppose to be designed. If you are having heat problems with your 2013 or similar Jeep with the V-6 Pentastar engine, all you have to do is buy a thermostat at a auto store, (I have Napa Balkamp, about $14.00), and put it in a pot of water, boil it, and see what it does. It will move when it hits about 220, but it will not open. The plunger runs out of travel with that .250" gap in there. Your welcome: Doug in Michigan :)

I noticed the same thing when I changed mine a few months back. I think I filled in that plastic space where the rod goes into.

One thing that will help, when you drain the old radiator fluid, replace the entire plastic inlet with thermostat. Then when replacing half/half fluid. Power on the Jeep and turn on the heater inside full blast, while the rad-cap is off. Continue adding water until it’s full. Wait until it’s warm and you see the fluid moving. Power it off, wait until it cools. Elevating the front will help. Last top it off with water and close the cap. Make sure the cap is good and not old, the reservoir tank will fill automatically. Test drive it around, if it overheats again? You still have air somewhere in the cooling system. Thanks

Get the AEV fan conversion kit. That would allow you to install the 2012 and up jk fan assembly. Fan flows twice as much as the 3.8 fan. I vacuum fill mine always. Worth the 100 dollars for the tool.

My 2003 rubicon tj only over heated when ac was on which caused coils to miss Fire when hot. It would get to 215 from regualr temp of 210 only when ac was on. I replaced the fan clutch for 65 bucks and now with ac on high at red light on gets to 211 and then when clutch spring kicks in drops back down to 209 to 210.

Currently dealing with my 14 as well... Replaced the water pump and thermostat, that solved the issue for about a year and now it's overheating again... No leaks, typical air in the system symptoms, but the "spillproof funnel" method did not work for me. Good luck with yours!

@@kevintorres5663 Man that’s good to hear! Mine is barely starting to overheat. I’ve noticed that after about 20 minutes the fan on the radiator starts blasting air. It actually manages to keep the car on “normal” temperature (on the right side of the middle line but still touching it). So I am guessing I have a leak somewhere or maybe hopefully just a bad sensor. I do not hear any noise from the water pump and I have a new thermostat. No coolant on my oil either. So hoping for a quick fix.

@@Joshua.ceronn Oh man, mine started doing that exact thing, kinda hovering over half while sitting in traffic, then lowering once I started to drive. Happened around 85K miles, did the thermostat first, then the water pump (I actually did have the hissing with the heater on) then I finally replaced the radiator around 100K miles because I was tired of living with paranoia LOL. Figure my Radiator had some sort of blockage or buildup. Also I guess our radiators are good for about 80K miles. Not all Jeeps are the same, but I hope you get it resolved!

I have a2017 wrangler and experienced the same. The water pump, thermostat AND heater sensor have been changed and I have to constant “burp” the coolant system. I’m wondering, since no one has mentioned that if the authorized ZEREX G05 coolant is not being used. Just something to take into consideration. Jeep on y’all

Check it out....the one and most important thing is to zźFLUSH THE HEATER CORE OFTEN...I myself eent through an extended battle on 2015 wrangler overheating, no hot air on heat than have it all work randomly...i flushed the radiator, because of the overheating had cyl 6 misfire which takes out the o2 sensor downstream...than pit in the 5th thermostat, after 1 month...i just changed the wayer pump prior...flushed the HEATER CORE, NOT EVEN VERY LONG, put it back together ,than i removed the thermo housing, and flushed the block, exclusively..put it,all back, fired it up... Aaaaand...ran BET🎉TER than day it was bought. IT USED TO HAVE A"FLAT SPOT"IN THE THROTTLE,THATS FROM DAY ONE, AND IT IS GONE AS WELL...HOPE THIS HELPS..HEATER CORE...VERY VERY IMPORTANT..
