Great video. Helped a ton. Wished you would’ve showed some of the inside stuff. I knew there would be some screws and bolts but holy crap! My cable jumped the groove and wedge in between the wheel and the bracket. Looks like $90 at the local Oriellys.

Around 0:56 you suggest locking the window up by drilling a hole where the bracket is to lock the window in place. I like that as a temp solution, but I can't imagine how that would work. Do you have a video showing that or can you go into more detail?

Great video; helped a ton for me as well. Just did the rear DS door regulator for a friend of my wife’s 2013 Compass using your video as an instructional tool :-) I wound up leaving that hidden torx screw out that fastened the latch clip to the inside of door off since the clip points in the door card were still tight. Again great video!

Hi there! Watching your video in kissimmee! I've taken a look and it seems that my cables in the regulator are jammed up. Can you advise whether I am ordering the right regulators for my vehicle? 2016 Jeep Latitude both rear windows. The part looks the same but is called a window lift motor on the auto parts website.

not the motor. You need the REGULATOR. But I don't have apart number. Call your local Jeep dealer with your VIN #. They can look it up.

No, probably the window switch. The motors have not been a problem. If the regulator was bad you would hear a crunching grinding sound. We have done a number of switches on these

Any chance you could very which 10mm bolts are the same size in relation to where on the panel they go? I started this on my mom's car thinking it would be an easy fix and then between starting and receiving the part I've lost the photos where I showed which bolts went where. I think the majority are the same size but a couple are not.

I’m currently trying to remove my window regulator on the same door, but around 5:30 in your video, that’s where I’m literally stuck. There is a little metal arm connected from the regulator to the door panel and it’s hooked in by a small piece of plastic that is super super-duper glued on, preventing me from removing the whole panel. It’s the only thing that’s stopping me from getting to the regulator, and I don’t want to accidentally break something, either it be the old regulator or the door panel. Any ideas?

@@scottsimons2813 i got it off thanks so much!!! now I just got to figure out how to disconnect the regulator from the glass as my glass is all the way down while I wait for the new part. Thank your for your help, people like you are a blessing and have given me the confidence to do repairs like this by myself.

@@scottsimons2813 I now know what's wrong: one end of the cable with the spring came out of its holding area, and cracked part of it too. Also, in the spooling mechanism for the cable, the cable came off track. I wasn't able to get it back on track, even if I could, I couldn't force the end of the cable back to its holding position. Plus with the cracked piece, it might not even hold. I was able to maneuver the part that holds onto the window upward so that the window is now closed and not open, but I'm not sure if it will stay like that(I'll keep an eye on it). I know know what's wrong, the new part should be coming in on Friday, and it shouldn't take me more than 30 minutes to replace if I keep everything in order and keep track of my screws and bolts. Again, thank you so much for you and your video!

727-410-9995. Before you spend money on this try lightly spraying the 2 up and down channels with a bit of WD 40. The only other solution for this is to change the window regulator which will be more expensive than you will want to spend.

Pro tip.. Cut the end off of the post on the panel that the top regulator bolt goes through.. That way you can bolt the regulator on the side AND the top BEFORE the panel goes back on.. The bottom regulator bolt hole will align naturally.. Save at least 10-15 minutes fighting to align that top hole and start the bolt..

Based on what you seen with the doorcard off would you say it’s easy to replace BOTH pieces of glass in that door?

Easy? No. You will need to remove the belt moulding on both sides of the door.

@@PowerUpAuto hi thanks for the reply, I’ve already done this and it was very easy. (I changed 3 doors on the Patriot and switched the glass over. While doing that I replaced the front wing and the front bumper as well. I now know way more about my car lol. Next up to switch out all the suspension components. Thankfully I have 2 of theses to make one good one

It’s crazy how easy it is for you to get that tab through the glass. I’ve tried various ways, like screwing in all the bolts that hold the regulator to keep balance, and pushing the tab back with a screw driver, but I still can’t get the tab to go through the window. Also it’s sometimes doesn’t even align straight, it leans to the left a lot more. It’s her frustrating. Do you have any tips ?

One idea, try spraying a bit of WD40 on the plastic plate. Option B, Drive down to Florida, glad to pop it in for you.

@@scottsimons2813, I figured it out. It was due to it being an aftermarket window regulator. On the market window regulator, the left and right brackets that hold the window had too large of a black filler at the bottom so the window wouldn't go down all the way, making the tab impossible to pass through the hole. So I removed them, and it fitted like a glove. Thank You!

Remove door panel. Push the window all the way up, you can cut any of the METAL cables (not electrical wires) to release tension. Once up we drill a 3/16" drill bit thru the panel just below the cross bracket (the bracket that attaches to the glass). Unplug the window motor and you should be good.
