The new Tundra is the perfect example of that. $20,000 price increase, engines blowing up left and right, trim pieces with terrible fit that let water flood into the doors, broken seats, suspension components falling apart, transmission issues, etc.

Yep. Both the manufacturers and the dealers are bat shit crazy. The manufacturers need to cut their price to dealers to a few thousand dollars above cost, with the MSRP a couple of thousand above that. And the dealers need to accept offers about a thousand below MSRP until this huge backlog is cleared. Even then, if they keep the production lines running, it will take years to clear out the backlog.

If that was to happen, OEM stocks would plummet, and peoples retirements would take massive hits. Jobs would be eliminated in every industry, and we would be in food lines. We're on the verge of a major recession that will be fueled by crashing commercial real estate and car loan defaults. It will be 2008 x4 if they cut vehicle prices in half. We're digging in, not planning on buying ANYTHING new until prices come back to reality. I just replaced my leased 21' RAM 1500 as the lease term ended. It was my work commuter vehicle, and i replaced it not with a new Stellantis product, but a 2010 Grand Marquis with 8400 miles in mint condition; I paid $12,999 out the door. You can beat this drum every day. A 5k discount on a 65k F150 doesn't mean squad. Even the best equipped F150 is not worth more than 50k. Until Ford actually reduces sticker prices by 20k across the board, your daily excitement means nothing. Which they won't. They rather lay off all their employees to rescue themselves to the other side of the interest rate mountain. Rather than getting giggly every day over the oversupply, you should publicly nail the OEM's for their nasty greed and pressure them in SUBSTANTIALLY reducing sticker prices. People should just stop buying pickups cold turkey for 2 years. THAT would send a message.

It's their manufacturing processes that need to change. People don't want a truck with hundreds of failure points. Give us back mechanical options. I want a modern drivetrain, and suspension. Roll up windown. Mechanical door locks, steering, and ebrake. No cameras. No TPMS. No infotainment. Plain interior. An ash tray. Blutooth speaker system with an old fashioned equalizer. Give people vehicles that will last decades again. Don't keep trying to get people to buy a new vehicle every few years to avoid a mess of problems as everything breaks down.

We need airbags certainly, but TPMS...shit I had no idea that was mandated in 2007...they need to use diaphragm energy generation for those so every time the vehicle goes over a bump it charges the tpms. Just use a simple super capacitor and they will never fail. Just over build the transmitter and excess power would be dissipated automatically in a stronger signal. Simple, super cheap, and permanent. Shit cameras are mandated also...that means a decent screen is required, might as well make everything electronic......FFS we are in this mess because of backup cameras.

They can be stubborn (oems and dealers) - would rather burn up capital and pay bankruptcy lawyers than admit they ruined the business model by raping the customer base during times of tight inventory. When retail oil prices go up during short supply (the immutable economic law for commodities), every politician in the country screams "EXCESS PROFIT!!!!! PRICE GOUGING!!!!" into every media microphone within a half-mile radius. When the auto industry did it, where were the State Attorney Generals? What is the exact number for excess profit? Some people had to buy a car to get to work - and paid $20k+ market adjustments. What a polite phrase - should have been "Screw You Fee". Dealer says "Nothing we can do, supply and demand. Sorry. Come Back Soon."

The thing is from a long term perspective interest rates are still at accommodative levels. They cannot lower interest rates right now because they are still low. We just exited a historic period of extremely low interest rates fueled by globalization. Given the macros and end of globalization the fed is stuck. Prices will ether need to come down, cheaper products made or everyone needs a raise to support the cost of these vehicles because interest rates are going to be very sticky.

They have had high warranty claims and apparently they are trying to decrease those claims by slowing new car roll outs and checking software (an area of high warranty claims) problems and solving them along with other things. At this stage Jeep or any car brand can slash their price another 50% and it won't make much difference as consumers just dont have money. It's really getting bad out there. God have mercy on us all. 🙏

Looking forward to discounts AND rebates. I've been seeking a new F150 to replace my 2010 with 180,000 miles, but have been waiting on the sidelines for sanity in pricing to return. It's almost time to start shopping. Ford covering the floor plan for the first few months just delays dealers getting motivated to move stock. I'd rather this $$ go to consumers in the form of rebates. Covering the floor plan does nothing for buyers. Got that VIN # wrong, its 4SXX not 3SXX.

I regularly waiting your video, as I want to buy a Car, thanks for your guidance, education for people how and what to negotiate. 1 - Manufactures should reduce car, as productivity gain, and some of row material has gone down after COVID. 2- Banks are charging height interest rate, even the financial groups of these car manufacturers are charging more than what they are marketing. Like you mentioned that AG of stat should look into this issue. 3- my experience with dealers in last one month is very disturbing , as they are not customer focus, fudging number on the name fee, accessories and destination charges. There is no connect between sales staff and their own Financial department. Who is getting impacted, “customer”, I came from Asian market to USA, and try to understand and comparing from other countries. I suggest you should do comparison of multiple countries, like you to review say car toyota corolla and prices in multiple countries. Then APR and insurance and total cost to Customer, and you will find customers are are the most impacted in USA.

Dealership needs to lower the interest rates for every truck that they want to sell. People suffered a lot and they cannot afford those trucks, too pricey not even a luxury car. In my opinion, whether you have bad or good credit you should be able to get a new or used car with very low APR. dealership needs to give back to the community to be able to sell those cars

Why don't dealers move to a "price performance model"? Fact is, vehicles are quickly moving to a commodity product. The vehicles are for the most part so similar (due to regulations as well as industry standardization) that there is little to no customer intimacy or product innovation in the industry any more. Dealers have margin in the MSRP. Skip the dealer add-ons and other crap, split the margin, reduce staff and get someone to simply process the contracts. They can move inventory in weeks and make money. Dealers have too much wrapped up in dealership frills and supporting staff that they don't need.

I sold the house of a manager at Ford back in the mid 1990's. He told me Ford was loving the trend toward Pickups and SUV's because the profit margins were insane compared to cars. He laughed about how the Eddie Bauer Edition Explorers were flying out the door. He said the Eddie Bauer is basically an XLT with two tone paint and some branding on the interior and exterior. He said it literally cost Ford a couple hundred dollars to make an Eddie Bauer compared to an XLT yet the Eddie Bauer was thousands more. So Ford was absolutely killing it on these vehicles. Now it's so much worse.

Still market adjusting at my local dealers. Local CDJR is not interested in anything below or above MSRP....where is the logic?? This is like a planned out train wreck. Simply do not understand. Lots FLOODED beyond anything I ever have seen in my adult life yet ZERO interest in moving the metal. Was at local Honda store today and Iwas the only one in the showroom. Sales staff sitting playing on their phones, not a single one got up to ask me if I needed help. They simply looked like they were DONE with life in general.

Ray, you’re kidding me…middle class are decimated and don’t have the cash flow to pay these MSRP prices and who can afford these monthly loan unless you are in the top 10%, not only that who will trade in a 70k plus truck with an underwater loan…it’s not just inventory due to price it’s inventory due to not trading your car at 4-5 years but now 8-10 years! The sad thing is trucks now sold under 50k are crap off-road…just 7-10k MSRP reduction and it will get the market moving for the middle class!
