I can see why you would see the price increases that way. The increased bottom/line prices have several components though, some are negotiable and some are not. Inflation of the cost of goods manufactured and labor costs are usually here to stay. Dealer fees, markups, manufacturing discounts to retailers, and profit objectives are variables. I believe these variables are what the video is focused on.

With saving money from fuel, you'll save another 5k in 5 years.. I just got one and i think I'll end up paying somewhere 35k in 5 years.. That's about same price as Toyota Rav4. I tried to do a motorcycle deal yesterday, dealers don't want trade ins. They have virtually zero used inventory, and very little new inventory. They just don't want used bikes, they're offering as little as 50% of low book. Now, they're not willing to deal on leftover 2023 bikes, but they say a used very late model low mile bike is basically worthless. I told the one salesman "so you're telling me that buying a new motorcycle, like what you're trying to sell me, is the worst thing I could do in the current market?". He was pretty much speechless when he realized what he'd said.

@@uche007us I do my own basic stuff like oil changes and battery replacement, headlights, air filters... I don't really count that in there because they will fail no matter what. I pay to have a shop do tires because I can't balance them myself anyway. Ecopia EP422 Plus is what I recommend, if you have Turanzas, get rid of them cuz you can't corner without them screaming. But for car specific failures, I've replaced 2 wheel bearings and a control arm (really only the ball joint was bad but it's not easy to separate it with the way the control arm is made). Under warranty the window lock button was fixed, and there are minor issues that I elect not to fix because they don't affect driveability. But besides the stuff you have to expect to replace, it was only the 3 parts so far to keep it going down the road. Soon I will need to replace the coolant pump and belts, and a couple rear support bars. The shocks are toast but I'm leaving them deleted because they don't affect my use of the car.

You don't need a broker. You need to just say no and refuse and be polite and hold out... It takes a couple weeks sometimes, maybe a month to get the dealership to come around and always have plan 'b'. When you go into a dealer and get to talking price and they know they have a 'hot' buyer, if they have any business sense, they will not let you go to their competition or go to a plan 'b'. They will come around and you will get a good deal. Just be stalwart and everytime they call back, or email you, tell them you're looking at other cars because you just don't think you can afford their car. Anyway... Good luck.

I tried to get a used 2020 Sentra SR, the ad said 17k but when I go to talk to them & the price jumps up a few thousand cause of add ons like paint protection, & nitrogen filled tires, told them I don’t want that but dude wouldn’t come down long story short, i ended up with a 2024 versa. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I totally agree on text and email a big reason is you have the car sellers answers in writing so they can’t deny they said something. Even private sales or dealers on sites like Craigslist if I see phone calls only no text or email and they claim it’s to avoid scam bots. No it’s most likely so they can deny what they said to you and if they won’t give me specifics on pricing etc they don’t get my business

Last Aug I bought a new Honda. I wanted a 23 Accord EX, but in Texas, my insurance would go up 445.00. A Civic was 440.00 more. The lowest insurance increase was 235.00 on a 24 HRV EXL. I bought the only one they had off the show room. I got MSRP. 29,000. No mark ups. I had 8200.00 equity in my trade 20 fit ex. I put 2K down. Payment is 342.00. APR is 5.9, not 9. I didn’t over pay then.

I have just bought a car for $3000 without financing. It’s a 2012 Toyota Prius Hybrid that gets 44-50 mpg even with its high mileage at 231K miles I expect it to last at least another dozen years. My previous cars bought new without financing had been the 1984 First Generation Toyota Camry LE, 1985 Toyota Supra and 2005 Toyota Sienna. They all drove past 300K miles reliably and without any major repairs.

When I need a new truck or tractor I negotiate over the phone with 3 dealerships, if a dealer will not do a ph negotiate fine I'll move on. I like to 'build' my new truck so very dealer gets the same base line to compete for my business. No need to get lied too. Generally 3 months down the road I receive the exact truck I wanted for the price I was happy to spend.

I spend only under retail. If retail prices are raised in the future, I won't fall for it because I look for bang per buck. It's best to stay off the new car lots since they are really not your friend anyway because they just see us as how much they can we get off the top without you winning. I always buy private sell and save a fortune.

I work on new cars. I’m a body tech. It would blow your mind how many bolts & nuts that are loose, or even missing. And this is on the front of vehicles. It’s scary.

Exactly. They are 50 to 60% overpriced. Even more if you consider the quality they are throwing out there. UAW to think for the quality. Union workers are the laziest most complacent workers there are. It will only get worse. Then comes another taxpayer bailout and when they begin profiting billions again they don't even have to pay the bail out $$$ back. What a great system 😂

Mazda and Subaru lost my business forever with their mandatory dealer markup on their vehicles. I bought a car in mid-2023 and they wouldn’t budge on the markup. By that time, they had plenty of the models I was shopping for, so their “supply chain” problems rang empty to me. I guess I’m a Toyota customer moving forward. Their loss.

This is great consent. I also recently used a car broker rather than going to the dealership myself. It was a great experience and completely stressless. The broker was able to negotiate a lease below invoice and because of the relationship they had with the dealerships, I was able to receive a tier one deal, although I was probably going to receive a tier 2 on my own.
