For those who say this should be aired by History Channel and the likes... Any professional TV show would insist in adding drama and their own spin to the story line. We would lose the great production ran by Matt and team. I say keep History Channel and/or Netflix types out of it! Don't mess up a good thing! Please never _ever_ get underneath a load suspended by unstable soil and a recent land shift. Crazy dangerous. He could see that the portion of the road everyone is standing on is still pretty solid, no more risk of that washing out because he's down there than if he were standing on the 'road'. As for the Jeep collapsing down, the whole side of the 'mountain' would have to crumble for that to happen. Considering the Jeep was wedged between two solid pieces of Earth with no room to slide further down without massive amounds of dirt collapsing, there's very minor risk (at least no more risk than standing on the road).

That was equal parts impressive and lucky: lots of independent variables, the 'what ifs' and the 'known unknowns' in that one . You did get lucky the front right wheel assemble (tire, hub, axle) didn't succumb at max load. Man, you are really skilled and talented. Absolutely love your videos!

@@drithius4801 agreed. Everyone knew there was a loooooong fall if anything went sideways (no pun intended) while pulling. Like Matt said, the ground turned to Swiss cheese under the road. I love watching your videos brother. I'm a mechanic working for the Border Patrol in far west TX. Part of my job duty is having a CDL and running tow truck recovery missions for vehicles that get stuck out in the field. We have an old military 5ton a wheel lift and a couple of roll backs that we use. It is crazy how no two recoveries are the same, I have seen a lot in my 10 years of doing it. Mad respect for what you do brother!!

So many safety experts here, none of whom were actually there. Being there and being able to assess things first hand are pretty big factors in the decision making process. Probably the same knuckleheads who often critique Matty on his other recoveries with gems as “shoulda used maxxtrax/a winch/ a tractor/ a D575A.” Same people who are posting on forums about how it took them 3 hrs to “mod” their car, which in their case is changing the bulbs. Prob wear gloves to do it too. The man obviously knows how to do his job, so let him do it.
