This is a good example of what you don’t do. You should always completely disassemble a steering box before drilling and tapping. There is absolutely no way to get all the metal shavings out of the box without being disassembled. He gave another excellent example as to why you should disassemble when he hit the worm gear shaft with the drill bit. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Don’t be a slacker in projects.

they make a "bottoming tap" for those shallow holes that need taped

Do the holes drilled and the ones on the hydraulic piston (hydro-assist) have an in-out preference? Like in-out....in the steering box ...and in out in the piston assist?

curious why you went this rout, instead of taping the top plate and using a threaded end cap?

Where did you get the fittings, hoses and ram from?

Grease your drill bit too so the chips don't fall in when drilling.
