Yeah that's exactly the same words that I've said before... When Independent suspension picks up a tire it's very far from being at full articulation and you're not going to get any sudden tips because you don't have suspension bottom out and if you hit a bump it's going to absorb it... So you've still got plenty of cushion left... With solid axle by the time you pick up a tire because of the motion ratio and how it all works you might be an inch from your bump stop and when you hit that bump stop it can jerk and you can tip over. I don't think I've ever hit the bump stops on my Jeep and I'm four wheel independent suspension. I've tested mine and I know it for a fact that I have a good two inches of articulation left sometimes when I pick up a tire because I'll pick up a tire after just 2 in of compression sometimes. I should have 4.5 up travel available after the lift. So I've got half my travel left. I think you have more travel in your tires than I have in my suspension lol.. For a fact !

We as a family have wheeled HC since 1977. Did it in jeeps with 31 and 33 inch tires and open diffs. As time went on. Our jeeps got set uo better and went to 35s and lockers. Trail has changed some over the years. Long time ago there was a huge bog above french creek and the climb to Cleveland lake had sone huge shelfs. Rigs now with 42 s and bigger take the challenge out of it as do the autos. We only had manuals and it made learn hiw to feather the clutch and work the brakes. We also did Penrose with 35s and lockers. Driving makes all the difference. Enjoy!!!!!

I'm a Bronco guy but I could care less what you drive. What's great to see is that similarly built Broncos and Jeeps can do nearly the same stuff. Yeah they spent a bunch on their Bronco, but I'm sure Luna's jeep isn't cheap. Damn near nothing on it is close to stock. Keep it up Lite Brite Nation....

To be fair that “2 Door” is way stretched. A stock JL 2Dr has a wheelbase of 96.8”.
@sixeighty6803 ай бұрын
Side note about the rock crawl mode, steering in hard will help you NOTE break the tie rods when they get in a tight spot. Having steering assist would make it easier to break them. If you get bound up and it's harder to turn, you're more likely to back off and adjust your line. With your steering components, it's not an issue. If you have a stock steering rack and tie rod, big issue. I know you mentioned that, but they apparently made the tie rods the weak point because it's better to break a supper cheap and replaceable item than a whole steering rack on the trail.

Great video as always, but I do have one thing I'd love to see you do different: please keep the camera horizontally level when filming obstacles. It won't make any of 'em look less severe, but it'll certainly make the clips more enjoyable.

I have a question: I own a 2016 Rubicon and love it, but hate the play in the steering when on the road. The whole front end is new but still constantly correcting the steering. Is the Bronco better on the road than the Rubicon, with the steering?
@jeffslininger70532 ай бұрын
The Bronco is 100% better because of the IFS. I use to own a 2005 Rubicon TJ, now have a 2022 Badlands Bronco. Yes, the Jeep will always have better articulation on extreme trails, but that is only one aspect of off-roading, and while it may struggle more than the Jeep does on those extreme trails, it can still do them. Everywhere else though the Bronco is better. My opinion having wheeled both.

@bobbendt16983 ай бұрын
Just so you guys know, as far as stability of the new Bronco, if you watch some of the videos from Super Celebration in Colorado, the last couple years, you can literally have a tire off the ground on the flex ramp almost as high as the other tire is up the ramp. Wild Horses and BroncBuster had "prison rules" on their flex ramp and we have had gen6 Broncos go all the way to the top of the ramp with just 2 front tires on the ground.
@scottleggejr3 ай бұрын
I am so over the bronco v jeep nonsense. I'd love to daily a bronco on 35s but want a jeep for trails 🤷♂️ the only complaint I have are those lower rear bars hanging so freaking low on the bronco. The flat angle means sane road manners compared to the steep angled traction bars on the jeep. It's all give and take.

Would it be a bruggy? Also first few feet it already has all the wheels off the ground. What makes that different than like an H2, H3 or even just a Tahoe once you do all those SAME things? Like for real. It’s only front IFS not front and rear IS
@FatGreenSheep3 ай бұрын
I could be wrong, but the steering feel is just that: feel. My Mustang has the same selections of steering and I believe the sport vs. normal vs. comfort is just artificial steering wheel feel. I’m pretty sure it’s all the same level assist, just provides more less resistance to your steering wheel based on how you want your steering wheel to feel.

The tire lifting thing is kind of a trip. I’ve had times where it was only 6 inches off the ground and felt super sketchy. Then about a month ago at slick rock I was coming down and obstacle and some dude told me my tire was about 4 feet in the air and I didn’t even feel it. Lifting tires is very situation dependent in my opinion.

Suggestion for new name on the Bronco. How about BY PASS BRONCO?
@calvinh.88823 ай бұрын
I think the hard steering in rock crawling mode is to protect the driver's hands. Since Ford gave it a rock crawling mode if they left the steering free/easy and someone used that mode and hit a rock and it jerked the steering wheel as it does in most vehicles causing the steering wheel to spin and break people's arms and hands, then Ford could be held liable. So I'm thinking Ford may have made the steering hard in that mode to keep that from happening. Just a thought.
@calvinh.88823 ай бұрын
I should have added that Ford's meaning of rock crawling, isn't the type of rock crawling y'all do. lol. I think their rock crawling consists of those beds of rock they set up in a field somewhere that really jerks people's steering wheels, and don't come close to what y'all do.
