For the ABS - get the enduro dongle. At least on my 2019 690 that allowed the bike to be set in off-road ABS mode, reduced intervention in the front and no intervention in the back. Nice combo and you don't have to reset it every time you stop the bike.

Reminds me of my time in New Zealand. I was near Mt. Cook. Riding a R100GS BMW. Sign says "no rental cars beyond this point".... next sign says "we really mean it, no rental cars" and as it got higher and rockier, I kept riding as far as I could and came upon a Sobek van. Looking over the berm, I saw the glacial water in electric blue among the basalt (black) rock. Amazing. A moment or two later, I guy behind me says "how did you get up here?!" I said "rode my bike". He said "I paid over $2500 for the same experience with Sobek. I laughed and rode on.

I don’t care what you say a good even street legal dirt bike can go places the best street legal 4x4AWD will ever go! I spent 2 years 6 months at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, where I got to take advantage of hundreds of miles of wilderness trails, old mine switch back trails, all between Manitou Springs to Cripple Creek, Victor, CO. On the other side of Pikes Peak and Cheyenne Mountain. Where some of the trails were actually 4’ across, with a hill on one side going up at a 40-45% hill, to on the other side a 500’ drop to the next tree/rock to stop you! Especially on that bran new state of the art dual purpose bike! Hell back in the mid 70’s, I was actually riding that bike grand dad! That was called a Penton 125 ISDT, barely legal on the street, but one of the best trail bikes made back then.

Don't smack talk the crossover/suv crowd! I wanna encourage folks to explore with the gear they have. People should know their vehicles limits, and ideally not get stuck and block the road, but most vehicles will get people to a lot of trailheads, a lot of mountain views.
@texlee16404 жыл бұрын
The bike almost always wins off-road. It's three to four times faster, more nimble, more efficient, has a smoother ride, it's more rewarding due to effort, and I truly believe that you take in your surroundings and the overall experience more on two wheels than you do on four. I always choose the enduro/dual sport/ADV bike over the 4x4. I hope to see more two wheel off-road content on this channel in the future, but odds are they will just make an umpteenth channel for it instead lol.
@duncdunc764 жыл бұрын
My take. There's a good bit of crossover between truck owners and motorcyclists so the addition of the moto was ok. And although anyone who does both my think the comparison was silly, any newby might find it interesting. Anyhow the vid content fits within TFL truck considering that your comparing a truck to the bike in terms of off road prowess and usability/versatility imo.
@teop78874 жыл бұрын
What is the point of comparing a truck to a motorbike, off-road... If anything, one complements the other: Take the truck to remote areas with the bike on the bed, unload it, have your fun, load it up again, drive home safe and cool. Kind of a nonsensical video if you ask me... At least the scenery was nice.
@perpelle4 жыл бұрын
There's no comparison, a bike (preferably an Enduro) goes to places a car never can. An Enduro even gets you further then walking. I ride Enduro 3 times a week but this content doesn't interest me.
@woolengrappler4 жыл бұрын
If you’re looking to explore light, fast and cheap, a dual sport is the way to go. If you live father away from good trails you can even trailer, or load the bikes in your truck bed for the best of both worlds, use your truck to cover highway miles and use the bike for the off road miles. The biggest downsides of the bike are lack of storage capacity and inability to carry multiple passengers like family and friends for trips.
