This jeep WJ driveshaft episodes are by far the best. Lots of information, detailed, and intuitive. I just swapped the Rezeppa front shaft for the double cardan I got from a V8 WJ. Rezeppas sure don't like higher-than-stock angles.

I am loving your WJ videos. Very well put together! I have two wjs and this is pretty much the best series I've found talking about this model. Thanks so much. I've learned a lot and my to-do list is growing.

You make this look sooooo easy. I have the slip yolk drive shaft on my i6 WJ. I'm experiencing a lot of vibrating when travelling 60 mph or better. I intend to remove the drive shaft, knock some rust off of it, and rebuild it. Thanks for the awesome tutorial.

A bit off topic but I have a 96 ZJ from NY so some scaling underneath. I just REPLACED the 3 front bearing knuckle bolts, they were badly rusted and when the bolt head rusts away that means trouble when replacing axles or hub.Actually I replaced both sides, I got lucky with 1 bolt smashing a 12 MM 12 point on as the rust was taking its toll

I have heard of guys using the razeeba cv front shaft in place of a rear one for a lift, although I don't think I would recommend it.

Aren’t you damaging the shaft with the table clamp?

Love your videos, but I wish you would add links to the tools and parts you use in your videos as an added touch. Nothing a quick google search won't solve, but I digress.

I am not car mechanic and rebuild my driveshaft cv front, after the installation and drive the jeep 2003 laredo 4.0 around for some time and I found cv grass was very wear spray outside the cv joint. Any idea what happened and what I should do

Hi I was reading that for bigger lifts you could replace rear drive shaft with the double cardan font shaft and do sye. Any thoughts on that ?

when I did my ujoints that disc on the yoke slipped out of alignment by a 1/4 of an inch. What can I do to fix that? It's the outer ring that has moved.

What are the symptoms of a driveshaft that needs to be rebuilt?
@VortexGarage8 жыл бұрын
I would say vibration at speed and also grinding and vibration on moderate to hard braking or acceleration. Basically high speed rotation or events that put more stress and articulation on the joints will cause noise or vibrations
@VortexGarage8 жыл бұрын
also on the rzeppas a torn rubber boot or wet grease apparent on it shows that dirt and water prob entered and have damaged the joint
@robhindley36058 жыл бұрын
Vortex Garage thanks...I definitely have a torn rubber boot...but I also have a whine almost like a sport bike is on the highway next to me. It usually happens at 40 mph and above and while my foot is just barely on the gas...not really accelerating but maintaining speed...could that be from the driveshaft too?
@VortexGarage8 жыл бұрын
yes could be - of course it could be other things like a gear wine or pinion bearing or wheel bearing but driveshaft a likely culprit. depending on the transfer case you have most Jeep wjs should be OK to run with no front driveshaft. if the noise goes away when removed it helps you pinpoint it. I'd ping on the WJ page Jeepforum.com to confirm you are safe to run without it but I'm fairly certain if memory serves - which is why you should double check lol!
