That 1970 Bronco with the 302 (?) is a tractor and a handful. This Wrangler is refined for purpose. You can get it in and out of a corner. Wrangler will go anywhere off-road and eat it up. This Wrangler is just glorious. Tedward, you just help me increase my list of dream rides.

Got one as a rental last year and it was hands down the worst driving vehicle I’ve ever driven. It drove worse on the highway, had worse steering, acceleration and wind noise than my first car, which was a 1998 Toyota Camry.

It’s outdated, shaped like a box with zero regard to style or aerodynamics, has the build quality of a plastic fisher price toy car, has the wind noise of a high roof ford transit van, has the steering feel out of a 1800s tank, the technology out of a 2005 corolla, etc, etc. But sure, it’s a “great” vehicle.

@@blakec1858 Jeep has some of the worst quality I’ve ever seen. Trim panels entirely misaligned, subpar interior materials, etc, etc. This is a well known thing by now. And for $80,000, you don’t get power front seats, heated rear seats, cooled seats, 360 camera, lane keeping assist, rain sensing wipers, power folding mirrors, etc, etc. Almost all of which are available on the bronco and other competitors. Not to mention the driving experience of the new wrangler, which is quite possibly the worst of any car since the 1990s.

Currently have a 2018 M3 and for some reason can't keep from thinking about these 392 Wranglers as being a more fun vehicle to drive. And I don't know why. Worried about handling, steering, and overall dynamics though vs the M3. Driving the M3 is a very rewarding experience. But your reactions being a sports car guy makes me think I might not be crazy. I love the idea of the acceleration of the M3 with the ability to drive over anything. Best of both worlds potentially.

Man.. Here I am with my JL Wrangler. 3.6L, 6-speed, Borla Atak exhaust, thinking it's as fast as I need and sounds pretty good. Then you do that first launch and you're at 60 before I've barely just engaged the clutch and gotten halfway through first gear. This 392 is such a magnificent package. I don't love my Jeep any less and lusting after things you'll never afford is never a great thing.. but maybe I should have at least sprung the cash for that slick automatic.

I have a 2008 rubicon unlimited and I like everything about it except the optimistic 200 horsepowet the 3.8 L v6 makes. I am a v8 fanboy and all I've wanted for ages is a stickshift v8 in my jeep but smog laws aren't my friend.

The newer Wranglers have the 300hp 3.6L V6, the 100 more horsepower makes all the difference. Those old 3.8s were so slow. I have a 2021 4 door with the new V6 and I’ll say that 300hp makes a Wrangler a quick car, even the 4 door models.

I'm a geologist and miner... I drive my trucks in 4wd all the time... my Titan had 350hp... in a lightweight aluminum engine.. 90% of the horsepower is useless out where I go... at 3 mph.. what you want is a good low range transmission... and nerves of steel 0 - 60 in 4 seconds sounds like... something to sell you something ya don't need and can't actually use... I love Jeeps... sold them.. fix them.. have owned several... my favorite was a 46 willys ... flat head 4... lots of torque... would go absolutely anywhere

Arizona and New Mexico... I do actually understand the concept of going fast... I have a 6 series BMW that sounds like it's going fast even when my wife is driving... so.. the older Titan.. 350hp normally asperated... twin cam V8... got about 25mpg on the highway... I haven't looked at the new jeeps... last time I looked at a new jeep... the quadratrac was brand new... long time ago... made by AMC.. Chrysler bought them and improvements were made... but.. It's a senseless build really. The engine is amazing at going fast both on and off road but a solid front axle sucks at doing that compared to independent front suspension. Put a V8 into the Bronco Raptor and then you can really appreciate the extra power and speed.

Disagree. The G Wagon is popular because it retains the off road looks. Same reason people like Land Rover Defenders. Or even 4 Runners. Vast majority of them will never see more than a Starbucks parking lot or a gravel road at best. It is fancy cosplay to project a lifestyle. I bought my 392 as a more reasonable G63 alternative without the douchiness that unfortunately the g63 has come to represent. I daily drive my 392 and appreciate the character of the car. It has just enough luxury to be comfortable, but not so much that it becomes sterile or appliance like most SUVs these days. It still retains some of the edge.
