Dave,I do not think this is a fuel pump issue.Could be a number of things. bad spark plug or bad wire.I noticed your check engine lite was on. have you taken it to an auto parts store? They might be able to help you.A bad o2 sensor.The list grows. A bad ignition coil.Ken

Hey Ken, thanks for the good suggestions, I have tried many of these things previously, but these are great ideas for others to try if they have not already done so.. Sorry to keep you in suspense, but you will have to check out the follow on video to see if changing the fuel pump works out ;-)

@@livefreeandhomestead4971 Dave,You obviously have a bad cylinder missing. Pull the spark plugs out and have a look..It could be as simple as a bad spark plug.How long have these plugs been in this engine?Do you have a thermal imager? reason I asked is you could tell what cylinder is missing buy the exhaust temperature. I hate to see you go through all the work only to find out it could be a bad sensor or your throttle body simply needs a good cleaning.

I'm having similar issue except it seems like when the engine reaches a certain temperature it starts sputtering & dies like it's out of gas & wont run until it cools a little. I've never heard of heat soak so much thanks for the info Sir.

Had the same issue in reverse. I had a clogged transmission cooler in the radiator. Replaced it with an external transmission cooler and and problem solved.

sounds like throttle position sensor. try it.

HI Jerry, I did not mention it but when I had the obd meter on it in live mode I could see that the throttle sensor was very stable when the idle was rough. In my second video about replacing the fuel pump I detail some of the other checks I did prior doing this diagnosis.

AutoZone code scanner told me it was a valve spring

Valve spring sensor is a BS code, I got those a couple of times on my 99 Jeep Wrangler. 98k miles. Usually throws the code after it has sat for a little while. It appears the fuel pressure issue with mine. After it sits, fuel bleeds off, so after a reset I started turning the key for about 3 seconds when it has sat for a week, then stopping then turning it to start again and it starts within 2 seconds.
