Deadset Legend 👌 I’ve been chasing a random stall issue when coming to a sudden stop for months now on my Cammed Jeep. Can’t believe it was that simple 🙏

Thanks for posting this. I have been chasing an idle speed issue in my '01 TJ, which has started stalling from time to time. I will definitely give this a try...

I was wondering if it would be possible to turn the screw around so you don’t have to keep pulling the throttle body off. My 92 XJ idles at 500 rpm and it hates starting and always stalls out when cold.
@thomasbeyer11 ай бұрын
You could always use feeler gauges between the stop and the throttle lever and see how much it needs to move so you only have to do it once.
@jeremyhanna3852 Жыл бұрын
Put feeler gauges in the space get it to idle correctly then do the math .010 is about half turn on the screw

Hey have a couple quick questions on tuning the computers in the 96-98grand cherokee 4.0. Can you shutoff all auto codes for the trans have a 97 with a ax15 swap and wondering if i can get the auto computer to stop trhowing codes Thanks
@thomasbeyer10 ай бұрын
I've never tried that but an HP tuners in the jtec ECU you can change transmission type as well now I've never had a reason to do that but that may also be part of the solution. You can shut plenty of codes off but I can't be sure that you have the ability to shut every code you need to off.

Is that a stock T.B. on your Jeep or did you do anything too it ? I have a pretty much stock 97 Jeep G.C. with the 4.0. ( Home made CIA ) which really woke up the Jeep, high flow cat. & muffler. Like an idiot I hogged out the bottom of T.B. too match the intake. I think it was like 2 mm but CAN'T REMEMBER, It came out great but I lost my LOW END. Mileage didn't change it still sucks but she pulls as good as a 4.0 will in the higher RPM range now. Thinking about getting another T.B. & putting it back to stock & another thing she only ever ran good on 89 Octane since new. 87 would ping up hills & it had pretty much no power, worse on gas also. No matter what I did too it she ran terrible on 87 since new, dist. plugs, wires, colis, dist. cap & rotor, ect... I use nothing but NGK parts now but she still hates 87 Octane ? My 99 Cherokee with the 4.0 didn't care about the grade of gas, CIA or anything I changed on it always ran just the same, WEIRD. Never had any problem with idle, I keep up on maintenance BIG TIME with this Jeep. It has 196,545 miles on her. Also put slightly bigger tires on it 235/75/R 15's it just looks better. I liked when you popped your hood & said " YOUR'S WON'T LOOK LIKE THIS " LMAO. Thanks for the Knowledge Sir, Henry from N.E. PA.

That's strange that blending below the throttle blade hurt bottom end. Newcomer racing did an intake manifold shootout and they saw a loss in power when they went from a stock throttle body to a 62mm but when they went larger than 62mm they picked up power. Shape is important but that's strange. I think there is a slight cam timing difference between those years and so far out of all the jeeps IV tuned non of them have been exactly the same. Different timing and fuel tables. So idk on the 87 octane mines boosted so I run 91-93 to play it safe with timing. If you have a good scanner you can check the fuel sync angle that could possibly effect some fuel efficiency.
@thomasbeyer2 жыл бұрын
And yes that is a stock throttle body
@NoWr2Run2 жыл бұрын
@@thomasbeyer Thanks for the replies. Yes I also thought it was strange it lost low end especially from what I've heard about doing this. Might throw some 4 hole injectors in it & see what that does.

Would I need to do this when installing a 4.0L head on my 258 bottom end I wend efi out of my 2000 tj but I have a sputter on take off then once I get over 2k rpm it seems to be a bit better and idle seems a bit rough nothing crazy.

Would this problem cause higher idle and stalls when trying to reverse or 1st

What's it doing?

@@thomasbeyer A few days ago I noticed my Jeep was losing power during acceleration, so I had to downshift gears to pickup speed. I did the self diagnosis and got code P0123. I replaced the TPS sensor and it only made things worst. I can barely go 20 miles per hour now. The engine sounds and accelerates just fine when I'm in neutral, but I start shifting gears, and it doesn't go too fast.

@@hThorman123 have you checked fuel pressure and do you have a scanner?
@hThorman1232 жыл бұрын
@@thomasbeyer I do have a scanner. How do you check for fuel pressure? Should I replaced the fuel filter?
@thomasbeyer2 жыл бұрын
@@hThorman123 idk exactly on a 2003 but my past of the 4.0s have a test port on the fuel rail that you can attach a fuel pressure tester gauge to. Most times there's enough fuel flow for neutral and when you go down the road if the filters clogged fuel pressure starts dropping off and it runs very lean. There's a good chance the filters clogged but if you can locate a fuel pressure tester you can check it you'll just have to check it while going down the road under load.
