Nice and simple upgrade. Seems like it would be a nice afternoon project

Turning the upper coil spring mount isn’t a problem like you said at 4:10 if you switch sides putting the driver’s side on the passenger side and vise-versa. They need to switch sides first, then turned/flipped around.

Update: I relocated my upper spring perches a couple days ago. I tried to swap sides, but it really doesn’t work as well you might think. The perch sits at an unnatural angle mandating that the forward facing bracket be cut as well, which is too much work and it reduces the amount of metal from which you’ll need to weld to your frame. I believe it’s better to keep them on the side from which they came off of and just cut the 1” off of the passenger side bracket to accommodate the track bar bracket, which is what you did.

Thanks for the comment and the update.I am glad everything worked out for you.

@@bemyers123 I think this is what most people find out as well... Blaine (Black Magic Brakes Blaine) suggests trimming the long-end of the passenger side bracket "U" so that it's flush/near-flush to the spring bucket lip. This gives more room, keeps the offsets correct, and should still give clearance for the trackbar bolt (for those running the factory rear suspension).

Cool video, thanks for the share. Saves me money from buying unnecessary parts

Almost three years later, do you still recommend? I have my body off and frame stripped, so this would be the time to do it.
@MuddyBeards4X43 жыл бұрын
Definitely, I now have coil overs and long arms, but relocating the coils mounts and out boarding my shocks were 2 fairly easy upgrades that helped a ton.

@@MuddyBeards4X4 Thanks for the advice on that. It’s literally just a frame sitting on stands right now. No fuel tank, no engine, no anything. So, idea’s on things to do now are helpful. You can check it out on IG at scalefreakrc. Please let me know if you can think of anything else.

Where can I source new coil retainers like yours. Seems to be so many option out there and want to follow your method.

How did you take the springs out? Those tower caps on mine are just completely gone so I'm thinking of welding in new caps but I've never done any suspension work before in my life. If I just life the frame up will the flex out enough to just fall out?
@MuddyBeards4X44 жыл бұрын
Tires off, support the frame and drop the axle down. You will most likely have to unbolt one side of the trac bar to get it to drop low enough to get the springs out.
@RerrardedRedneck734 жыл бұрын
@@MuddyBeards4X4 ah cool. My trac bar is broken off anyways bc the mount rusted so I think im just going to do what you said an borrow my buddys lift take the shocks off and drop the rear axle then weld it up

What is the benefit ? Thanks

Were you running into drivability issues or just take give it more flex?
@Jon-jd7kq5 жыл бұрын
* just to give it more flex
@MuddyBeards4X45 жыл бұрын
It just straightens the coil out. It doesn’t bind up or flex up into a “C” shape anymore.

Just did mine. The rear passenger side sits 1/4 in higher. *shrugs*

Did you get your 1/2” lift by moving the top bracket?
@poker8193 Жыл бұрын
I never understood why they didn’t come like this from factory
@mr.dozer.74712 жыл бұрын
How much lift do you have ? I have 5.5" and my coil really is bent. Also when they were talking about rotating the bracket around I think what they meant was swap sides take your driver side bracket and put it on the passenger side vice versa and then rotate it that way your bracket is not offset
@MuddyBeards4X42 жыл бұрын
This was a 4” spring. I no longer have this setup. I have long arms and coilovers now. Lots of videos on it.
