Remove the trac bars and unhook your sway bar. It'll ride a lot softer on the trails and will flex more rather than lift wheels. Best part is that it's free to do and if you don't like it you can put it all right back. 👍

Small lift and lockers is all you’ll need for the YJ. Although YJ’s were geared on the tall side. The 2.5 could use some 4.10’s. Had my CJ for almost 40 years and it has the 2.5, it does fine and it’s carbureted so less power than yours. It’s light and it climbs like a goat. I don’t pile a bunch of stuff on it. The factory rear posi traction is pretty tight and works really well. I put an Ox Locker in the front. Works great!

My suspension was completely shot on my yj so I replaced everything with a rough country 2.5 inch lift. Much softer ride and more flex. Still looks pretty stock. Helps keep the tires on the ground when she gets crossed up in the ruts.

I definitely recommend Detroit Truetracs for the YJ. I have them in my Fiancee's 1995 YJ and they are great. The Truetracs have gotten us out of mud, over rocks, sand and anything else. They are a no maintenance required locker and lock up when you send torque through the drive train. They are silent on the road and unlock/slip when on the road so no chirping or anything else. Message me if you want to know more but I definitely recommend them. We have them in the front and rear stock axles. They are also very affordable.

One of the towns you went through was Westminster in Oconee County. I love this area and plenty of places to explore. If youre back up this way check out Muster Grounds...but i would suggest a lifted rig because it gets rough but will challenge your wheeling capabilities. Also check out Horsepasture, access to it is in Pickens county. When you get to the top theres a look off that has a spectacular view of lake Jocassee. North Georgia around Clayton has Earles Ford and on up 76 toward Hiawassee theres Charlies Creek. Definitely worth checking out.

@@KLRCoop yeah. I was aired down and in 4L in first gear (it’s a manual) it’s just those obstacles are a lot bigger than they look on camera and I didn’t want to risk breaking anything on the Jeep pushing it too hard.

Hey man! I recently started watching your videos, they’re amazing and love your commentary. I live in Charlotte, NC and your videos have game me inspiration to check out the SCAR, I have 2020 Toyota Tacoma (RWD) that is basically stock except some AT tires I threw on it. I have a few questions. Do you think I would be fine with the rwd tacoma? I don’t do much off roading but I feel like I’d know what would get me stuck (it seems like mainly mud would be my challenge) but I do like to explore the off shoots like you guys do in the videos. My second question is, I probably wouldn’t do much of the southeast section and I’d be looking to hop on somewhere in the middle of the state, somewhere preferably with more trails/gravel than road. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
@SimplyMustGo10 ай бұрын
For the main sections of the SCAR you would be fine. Some of the off shoots and “trails” to campsites might be challenging for a RWD. I guess the sections you want to hit might depend on if you are planning on camping along the trail and if you really want to do dispersed camping or if a forestry campsite is ok. Most of the state is going to be paid forestry sites until you get up into the mountain areas and around Lake Jocassee.
