Its amazing to see his speed and obvious power, I cant comprehend the time and training that Tommy has put in over the years he,s unique in that every video I watch of him, is like watching a Bruce Lee clone, his speed and power are just like Bruce, I,ve never seen anyone else who is this fast and impressive, and I,ve watched a lot of similar videos demonstrating not just Jeet kune Do but Wing chun too, along with other martial arts. I would love to meet him someday just to see him punch so fast , I have the greatest respect for Tommy and anyone who has trained with such dilligence to attain that level of skill, truly amazing.

In fact with Jesse Glover Tommy had access to so much information about how Bruce thought, how he refined Simplicity, Bruce's notes on Combat , body mechanics & kinetics and how Bruce trained his body for speed , timing and power. Combined with his natural abilities with access to all this no wonder Tommy got so great at JKD.

Correction his teacher was Ted Wong, one of Bruce's top students. Don't think tommys quite that old. two main dudes took over after Bruce. Inosanto and the concepts branch. Ted Wong and the Jun Fan branch. Tommy is Ted's top guy.

Hand techniques are awesome. I don't get the leg twitching/shuffling while hitting though, seems like the power wouldn't transmit properly. In Krav and Wing Chun we just hit.

can i training backfist on a wallbag? if it stuck by the wall? im use to do it sometimes after i get bored of chainpunches.... by the way i see i got exacly same wooden dummy like the one on the video

You can, make sure the structure is solid or you could hurt yourself. You can practice your backfist on the dummy since the punching surface is round. Since i dont chain punch, i practice my straight lead on the wallbag. All other strikes on the heavybag.

Please don't hit your wooden dummy, like it is a punching bag, Simke. They are not for this. They are for students L1 and above. You have to hold your centre and use it as if it is an opponent, that can teach you about yourself. You have to get to a level where your imagination can assist thinking it is attacking you, so you can learn about yourself. Please don't hit it hard, thinking you are conditioning, that is just foolish.

There sort of is no such thing as a back fist in Wing Chun, as when you do it, you drop your elbow, low, and get it under your fist first. Back fist, is a Karate thing, where you whip your arm, pointing your elbow at the target and allowing your fist to follow.

Jeet Kune Do, stems mostly from Wing Chun. You have to feel and know yourself, if you want to stop others controlling you. Part of the speed is because you do not pack a fist, before you strike, your hand is just an farm/tractor implement on the end of a mace/your arm (you leave your hand open and relaxed). It may be a fist, at arrival. A good punch comes from the heart, centre linear drive but once you get good, you can pretend to throw a tennis ball and make it a punch, on arrival. Imagine swinging a short tennis racket at a ball, now imagine the ball is someones head, now imagine you don't have a racket in your hand. A lot of speed also comes from doing the Sil Lum Tao, form, every day, for years. You imagine it and slowly do it, all the time, then some how, it comes to you, over time. Another contributer is your fast twitch muscles as opposed to bulky weight lifting muscles. Another thing is where you put your mind, if you can put your mind in your knuckles and somehow know, full well, that your fist will travel past the target (as if it is not there), this increases speed also, however this last mind game is more successful at delivering power.

Jeet Kune do does not mostly come from Wing Chun. By the end of Sijo Bruce Lee's development of his martial art, it had nothing to do with Wing Chun. Two most dominant martial arts in Jeet Kune Do are Fencing and Boxing.

There's two things wrong here 1st You said "Bruce is my greatest fan." (It's I'm Bruce's biggest fan) 2nd Tommy is a bit bigger than Bruce which means he most likely isn't going to be faster. He is fast as hell, up there with Bruce tho

Really? Bruce Lee’s first student Jesse Glover says the opposite. Tommy has also been asked twice by Bruce’s own family to demonstrate JKD at two birthday celebrations for Bruce. He’s very good.
