At 35:45 the custom amp actually used the frame of a Daimler Sovereign grill as it's own front grill. Certainly a very novel re-use of a car part. The Daimler Sovereign, made in the 1960's, was almost the same as the Jaguar 420 model, rebadged for a different buyer group. Now, back to guitars .......

As the buyer of lot 92. I was not surprised by the sale amounts. Thanks for posting. I bid on quite a few and was very pleased ... the original 2 Duo Jets went for far more than I could afford.

@@mybluesguitar thanks. Crazy Legs is one of my favorites ... When that album came out I never envisioned one day I would be holding that model in my hands. according to the catalog, the guitar was used in the studio and a stage backup to lot 50.

Do you happen to know the result for the plastic Macaferri (sp?) that Jimmy Page gifted to him? I noticed estimate was 3-5K (yeah, right🤣).
@ericweinraub88254 күн бұрын
@@melodymakermark The guitar was withdrawn by Jeff's wife Sandra just before the auction.
@melodymakermark4 күн бұрын
@@ericweinraub8825 I think that’s great. I’ve seen a lot of negative comments directed toward Sandra when I figured she’s probably just following Jeff’s wishes, but that one guitar would be one she probably heard and saw him play so many times around the house “just noodling”. Probably meant a lot to her. Or maybe Pagey wanted it back? Who knows.

Why were the "estimates" so low? I could tell up-front they were nowhere near reality.
@AdvenuringTime9 күн бұрын
I think it might be an insurance thing. If something were to happen to it in shipping or whenever the auction house can say it was 'professionally valued' and only pay that amount back perhaps. Or maybe its for the spectacle of it? who knows.
@EmmaM-n1j9 күн бұрын
They were the book value of the items, regardless of who they once belonged to or who was prepared to pay silly money for them.
@misterzero86679 күн бұрын
So the auction can boast that everything went above estimate to keep strength and faith in the market , also to attract people who think they might get it cheap
@mybluesguitar9 күн бұрын
I wondered that, Bruce. Pure guesswork, but I was thinking either it's to hook people in to bid or so that later on the headlines will celebrate by how much the winning bid exceeded the estimate ????
@EmmaM-n1j9 күн бұрын
@misterzero8667 The estimates were market values.

Once I got started I couldn't bring myself to stop and throw away what I had already done. I realised quite early on that it would take a long time...and it did! About 130 lots to screenshot, edit, copy prices, convert to dollars then make cards to overlay. I hope over the coming week or so we hear who the buyers of the big-ticket items were.

@@ericweinraub8825 Nice one Eric! Not a bad price really and it was a limited run of 75 I believe. I really wanted (and did bid on) 44 and 50 but was some way off. Also bid on the Yardburst and Tina Turner. Again, was somewhat off. I did buy something in the end though. Nothing major but nevertheless something I really like and will definitely use in my day to day work.
