This man lives on a different planet from all other guitarists. Whilst his peers are lazily falling back on their old catalogue, churning out tired but perfect copies with stellar session players and guests, Beck continues to push the envelope despite knocking on 80 and with people you've never heard of. It's also great he's giving women a chance to shine - Tal Wilkenfield being one he brought on and now has a career of her own. All power to you Jeff.

My favorite guitarist ever, the king of the "guitarist's guitarist" and to me the most original and unique rock guitarist ever. He had dazzling technique and otherworldly control of his technique, but dazzling you with his technique was never his intent. It was always just a means to higher creative exploration and musical expression. This is a stellar performance, but i feel a little sad all over again seeing it and realizing what a short time we had left to share in the magic he gave us.

JB has been the biggest source of inspiration for me to keep exploring new techniques, tones and sounds and to liberate my playing since the 1980s when I began playing. The first JB music I heard, while knowing it was him, was the live album with Jan Hammer. Freeway Jam sounded so fun and sounded like pure happiness. I often hear him play and think " It's like he plays what I feel when I've been high on magic mushrooms " lol " it's like the funny feelings one gets from a magic mushroom high, are plugged straight into his guitar and through his amps " I got to see him play live once, in Vancouver BC, when he toured with Jennifer Batten ( Eric Johnson opened for JB ) The funny thing is that it was a freakish kinda magic that I even got in. I did not have more than $5 - $7 to my name, in my pocket, but I went to the venue anyhow just to be around the energy of him being there. I met this half-cut fellow who was quite perturbed as his wife just dumped him, and he had an extra ticket. Well, I told him that I would love to have his ticket, but all I got is $7 or whatever I had atm. And he said ' just buy me a beer inside and you can have the ticket. " So we went in and I bought him a beer, and the good thing is I brought a pair of binoculars ( just in case something magic happened ) which made the experience a fair bit better for both of us. Jeff Beck will forever have changed me musically and personally! Thanks, Jeff!
