Given what he's accomplished, having him share his thoughts in such a frank way, is a great historical contribution. It's significant to have him speaking for himself and to not have some future biographer distort who he was, or what he thought.
@Citruss_XIII
@Citruss_XIII 3 ай бұрын
Accomplished? He's hoarding more wealth that you can even comprehend. Do you know how much a single billion is? You could make $10,000 a day for 10,000 years and still not have as much money. No let that sink in before you start arguing in your mind or worse, justifying it. Capitalism is broken. People are playing this game and exploiting the shit out of it, along with the governments blessing. Don't turn around and blame immigrants for jobs when I'm sure Bezos makes more in an hour than all of the immigrants in America combined. He does not need that money. It is immoral to hoard that much. If the richest 1% donated just 10% of their money-- something they would never notice- they could change the shape of the country and the world. They didn't "earn" all of that money, it's not proportional to their inputs or contributions.

@@bluegiant13Exactly. I 100% agree. Why not glean as much info as possible and not get confrontational. That's just drama for dramas sake, it would make the interview useless and wouldn't solve anything. A year ago I worked at UPS during “peak season” (Black Friday-Christmas Eve) my team of workers would get packages from a belt a few would sort them onto four different hand trucks each one designated for a particular delivery truck the packages needed to be loaded on. Three of the hand trucks were the same size but one of them was 2.5 times as big as the others. I realized that we were using the long one for the closest truck to the belt, which was inefficient. So I went to my supervisor and told her that we should use it for the furthest truck instead, as that would save steps. She looked me in my eye and said “that doesn’t matter, it’s the same number of packages going to the same place, you need to work faster.” I bought Amazon stock with my very next paycheck 😂

I spent a lot of time arguing with my co-founders addicted to PP presentations, avoidance of decision making or the lack of information ground for the decisions to be made. The most eye opening part for me was 1:50:40 when Jeff was explaining how AI isn't even close to the humans, because human brains use only about 20 watts of power and need very little data to succeed. AI currently uses multiple kilowatts of power and needs billions of parameters to "learn" and "generate" a result. Never heard it that way before.

Really curious about how this interview was organized, you should do a behind the scenes about it. Were you limited in the questions you were allowed to ask? What questions were off the table? I'd love to hear Bezos' stance on the current consumerism epidemic humanity is struggling with, that is largely fueled by large retailers and ecommerce. Does the end (space exploration) justify the means? Or is Bezos actually in favor of producing vast amount of consumer products, a large amount of which goes straight to the trash? Are the benefits worth the waste?

This felt oddly intimate, like we were there with these two. Lex is officially my favorite podcaster. His questions are intelligent, thoughtful, provocative and delivered with humor and humility. Jeff was fascinating to listen to (obviously) but his joy and curiosity was surprising. I do get the power of wondering. I’m incredibly inspired! Thanks to both of these brilliant men!

I mean no doubt someone like Bezos does hours of practice interviewing for an occasion like this so that he’s sure to NOT be “who he is.” At least to not say something to tank the stock price or incriminate himself.

Right. He lands the powerful people because he doesn’t rock the boat or put his neck out. His guests get the platform to portray the exact version of themselves that they want everyone to see. No hard questions. No risk for anyone involved. Just like the mainstream propaganda media. SMH.

Finally a direct, deep and long first-hand conversation with Jeff! It's hard to empathize with a person you never heard a conversation from but only heard news about. We're living in a time where "personal brands" are a thing and these things are important. Thanks for doing this Lex!

The part that's though to empathize with about Jeff is not the privacy. Its the unwillingness to pay living wages to the working class that built his enormous wealth while continuing getting filthy rich, even more pushed by public spending and subsidies to AWS for espionage. Fuck that bald fucker. No aristocrat will ever get empathy, they sure don't have any for employees.

Lex is good at getting different, powerful people to give their view of things in an equal, presentable format, but he's not pushing back or asking hard questions at all. He's not the Frost to anyone's Nixon. Not that he has to be, he's great at what he's chosen to do. But it isn't the hardball type of journalism that effects change.
