very cool! i liked hearing his tips on different parts of the piece...also I had just been wondering myself about the "staccato" notes in this piece and he clarified that for me.

Bottesini had a bass with 3 strings, it was the norm back in the 1800’s for solo basses as the E-String wasn’t used as much. This concerto in particular does not use the E-String at all. It also has to do with the resonance of the bass with only three strings. Most people say it’s better and it makes the bass speak louder. It’s a very interesting topic
