I love it, also never knew an “Always There” cover existed. This single alone would carry a TV station, show, or network with one of their campaigns, promos, and TV talk shows of the time (entertainment or public affairs).

The original of this, written and played by Ronnie Laws & Co., is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. Nothing wrong with this rendition, though. Nothing at all.

Philly; but I believe his sound was West Coast - the Jeff Lorber Fusion Band was an incredible rhythm section & featured soprano saxist Kenny Gorelick, who would later be marketed solo as Kenny-G. JL also produced some mainstream pop stuff for some R&B singers.

Pongnikul, Ronnie Laws wrote the original which was an instrumental on 1975 Pressure Sensitive Album. Around 1977, a group called Side Effect did a remake of this song with vocals. Ronnie Laws and William Jeffery wrote the lyrics. Ronnie produced that version for them. Incognito did a remake of the remake in 1991.

This version is way better than the Ronnie Laws version. I like the Ronnie Laws song, but the Jeff Lorber version really kick butt, as well as another song he did "Full Moon Rising".
