This was the best time for music. You watched Midnight Special on Friday night, then on Saturday there was American Bandstand and Soul Train. And Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on Saturday night. Amazing.

How can a 66 year old man (Jeff Lynne) sound exactly the same as he did in his 20's, same key everything......incredible....puts Macca, Jagger, John etc to shame.....their vocals are shot.

I just heard a old interview of sorts from BBC, and Jeff was asked how he adapted speaking or singing with American accent, pretty sure he said this song was 1st introduced on soul train and many thought lead singer with ELO was black, Jeff said that was a very high compliment as he cut his teeth on R&B from black artists. He is an amazeing talent , with a voice like an angel, and production capabilities like rt hand man of God.

How I understand what you mean. Every Saturday night at 5 o’clock sharp it was Soullll Trainnn Are used to love to see what they would wear with the platform shoes and what kind of get ups there was gonna be. Not to mention who is going to be on Don Cornelius‘s stage. I wish I could walk back into that era. The best era ever!! Rest in peace Don Cornelius, will always remember you! Thank you for the cool ass show! The first music I ever listen to was soul music. Precursor to disco days.

Listen again. This is from "Showdown List:" 2) A lot of fans came away from the Zoom shows asking "Did Jeff sing 'it's a real submarine??'" Yes, Rosie Vela, Jeff's girlfriend at the time, told me that he did indeed sing "it's a real submarine" as a tribute to Del Shannon, who'd told Jeff when they worked together that he had always thought those were the words. Del thought the words sounded cool like that..."real submarine"...and so Jeff sang it that way in Del's memory.

I'm at risk of offending someone no doubt by saying this but that can't be further from my mind right now and those who get it will know what I mean. This clip does more for black people and their wonderful, vibrant, proud culture in just a few moments than anything the BLM movement has ever done or ever will do. Where did it all go so badly wrong?
@alondathomas293
@alondathomas293 2 жыл бұрын
You're completely wrong, and don't know what you're talking about. It was black people who started BLM, and it was very necessary. Do the research, or talk to a BLM activist, please.
@daveshongkongchinachannel
@daveshongkongchinachannel 2 жыл бұрын
@@alondathomas293 Yeah, I did my research and found out the woman who started BLM just happened to milk the organisation and bought a few multi-million dollar mansions. And of course it was black people who started BLM, I didn't suggest otherwise. So my comment still stands, black American culture was so vibrant and proud back in the day and BLM was setup purely to take advantage of the current political climate.
