I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. Ok, so the one singing at the end of the dance practice is Baekhyun; The one at 11:52 that you said didn't have the same foot technique is Chanyeol - It makes me laugh everytime, you can see, not only in this choreo, that his moves are always a bit different from the others, my poor thing, he really tries 😅 I understand you trying to find words to express yourself in a way for us to understand what you mean, but I want to tell you that you don't need to worry with us being mad with what you said. as a performer, I think "monster" has the most viewed MV because of its amazing way of storytelling. it's not just the song itself but the acting and cinematography (lights, scene transitions, ambiance) lifts-up the whole mood. isn't it crazy how it's already 4 years old but still radiate chills?!

The red haired guy messing up the footwork is Chanyeol. I’d say he’s the weakest when it comes to dancing in the group but comparatively he’s come a long way since his debut. But his strengths lie elsewhere. He’s a very gifted musician and very talented music producer and has done a bit of acting in the side as well.

All EXO members except Chen acts in dramas and movies. Chen acted once in a musical The Heights. One of the member, D.O.(Main Vocal) is one of the most acclaimed idol actor in Korea and received many awards in acting. The red haired one is Chanyeol, he's the main rapper and a vocalist. His weakest link is dancing. That's why he's so happy in Obsession, because he was the center at the start for once. He was the center because he's the only one who can do the rising part. He said his body is kind of special, He can't do what other members can but he can do what other members can't. Lol... He's just one precious giant.

I think every member in EXO have act in something D.O is actually really praised for his skilld in acting. Kai got some works and is getting better Chanyeol acted in a kdrama and a Chinese movie Xiumin was also in some dramas Lay has a big acting career like D.O, but in China Baekhyun was in a kdrama that is really good call Moon Lovers Suho was also in some dramas Chen is the one that not really act, I think the only thing he made as an actor was on EXO webdrama and I think some musicals as well (I can be wrong) Sehun is getting more and more works as an actor witch is great

Here is some information that might help you to understand the choreography for "Monster" better. All the pieces of the choreography were designed to help tell a story. So if you know what you are looking for you will see that each move is done for a very specific reason. If you follow EXO, then you know that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens who are from Planet Exo, and they were sent to Earth on a mission. Each of the members of EXO have a superpower that is unique to them and almost everything that EXO is involved in is part of their storyline and concept. In "Monster" the choreography has been designed to tell their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. D.O. has the power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial, EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. Also if you notice, at the end when they say "creepin', creepin', creeping," the dance move they are doing is called The Creep, from the iconic 1990s American girl group TLC, which was created for TLC's song "Creep." The choreography for "Monster" is one of the best examples of how EXO continues their concept and story in everything they do, including in their choreography. Everything, down to the most minute detail, is expertly thought out and planned to always stick to their concept and story. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeo) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. As the English lyrics in "Monster" say ... They're "Creeping, Creeping Creeping .... Creeping in your heart babe" "You can call me Monster (because) I'm creeping in your heart babe." "She got me goin' crazy,." The song's called "Monster" so the words are about acting like a Monster "Don't be afraid love is the way... i'm sorry, you make me sooo craaaazzzy, you know you dooooo." LOL So the floating watch and the car that is on fire in reverse, etc., I think was -- on top of being a metaphor in the story -- them using their superpowers. And the snake you see is supposed to mirror the beat of the song and theme of the MV. So, like a monster, the beat of the song kind of slithers like a snake and they slither in and out of the relationship stealing warmth and affection from the girl, but in the end, leaving her cold and alone like a cold-blooded snake, etc. However, the lyrics of the song really have very little to do with the story in the MV. "Monster" is one example where if you want to know what the song and lyrics are about you really need to watch an English lyric video. Because the lyrics in the song tell a different story than the story in the MV. In the song the members are talking about a girl and they are telling the girl that "You can call me Monster" because I know I am bad for you and I will ruin you. I know that when we are over that I will have destroyed everything that is good about you, but I don't care because I want you so much that it doesn't matter to me. So ... "Don't be afraid, love is the way ... you can call me Monster ... because I'm creeping in your heart babe." The song is about possessing a girl and using her up and throwing her away in the end, but the MV really is about EXO's origin story and about the fact that they are aliens from Plant Exo who have come to Earth on a mission and they are searching for clues to help them on their quest to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one of them, if not all of them, using their powers. Some say the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end they know they might destroy her -- as they say in "Monster," etc. etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life, you begin to see even more parallels to EXO's story and even more ways to connect even more of it all together. Now to explain what is happening in the storyline of the MV. First of all, I think their next MV for their song "Lotto" is a prequel to "Monster" so when/if you watch "Lotto", just keep in mind that what you saw happen in "Monster" is what is going to take place after the events in "Lotto", and both MVs might make a little more sense to you then. I'm not positive how "Monster" and "Lotto" tie into EXOs larger storyline, but I do know that "Lotto" is the prequel to "Monster." Monster" is from EXO's EX'act album and "Lotto" is from their EX'act repackaged album. So, to understand the story in "Monster" you kind of need to watch "Lotto" as well and connect the two storylines. How I interpret things is that the story starts in "Lottp" as EXO goes undercover and works to take down the gambling ring, which is thought to probably be run by the Red Force. and now that we know about EXO's clones, from their "Obsession" storyline maybe even X-EXO are involved. So if you watch "Lotto" next and pay attention to the story, I think the story starts out in "Lotto." EXO are undercover as they work to uncover a clue or something they need in order to accomplish their tasks here on Earth. I think the underground gambling establishment is run by a gang of bad guys -- probably members of the Red Force. "Lotto" is where we are introduced to a girl who is being held captive. And ultimately, I think what EXO are trying to do is rescue the girl from the Red Forces or the bad guys, but they are trying to do it without blowing their cover or being found out. So that's why you see in "Lotto" and continued in "Monster" the members are fighting against the FBI or police because the police have come in to take down the gambling ring and rescue the girl, which is also what EXO are trying to do. For some reason the members of EXO don't want to be discovered so they play along as if they are part of the bad guys. But in the end, as you see in "Monster," Baekhyun disguises himself as one of the police and helps the other members escape before they are taken to jail and/or are captured by the Red Forces, etc. How I interpret what is happening in "Monster" and "Lotto" is that humans aren't supposed to know that EXO are even here on Earth, so they have to be incognito with everything they do. It would be pretty hard to explain why they are there at the underground gambling site when the police show up without revealing who they are. That is why we see Baekhyun go undercover as a member of the SWAT team and break the members out at the end of "Monster." Some theories think that EXO are arrested because the police just assume that everyone they see must be involved in the illegal activity. And at one point you see Kai standing there looking at the people laying on the ground, which I think is showing that -- because Kai has the ability to teleport -- he may have arrived after the fact and is now just standing their observing what happened. And, as the song says "You can call me monster" -- as in, you can assume we are the monsters that caused this to happen, but you don't necessarily know the whole truth. We also see Lay in the middle of that same pile of people as if he is trying to use his power of healing to try and revive them or fix what happened. If you consider way back to their "History" song and MV -- which was one of EXO's pre-debut songs and MVs. That part of the story's theory is that, some big unknown "mistake" has happened on Planet EXO and the whole reason EXO are being sent to Earth is to right their wrongs and to try and prevent or stop that same mistake from happening on Earth. EXO is looking to try and rewrite history and stop the Red Force from corrupting humanity and causing chaos which they were, unfortunately, unable to prevent from happening on Planet Exo. They want to make history here on Earth by doing something that never has been done before. So, EXO being undercover in "Lotto" and "Monster" would make sense that that is part of their attempt to fix things and to try and stop the Red Force from getting out of control like on their planet, etc.The EXO members are feeling like monsters because they have so far been unable to stop the Red Force and they were unable to stop whatever happened in "Monster" Also, if you remember in "Obsession," EXO are the members in all black and X-EXO are the members in the colorful outfits with the crazy makeup and hair. If you notice, in "Monster" the members are all in black, so that is why I think in "Monster" they are depicting the story from EXO's point of view, not X-EXO. So, I think what we are watching are the EXO members trying to take down X-EXO and the Red Force and stop the evil and corruption that the Red Force is inflicting on the world which is depicted here as corruption through illegal gambling. As you can see all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. All of EXO's MVs and storylines from everything EXO has ever been involved in are connected, including EXO's sub-unit MVs and many of the members' solo MVs, as well as SuperM's MVs, and it all tells a little more of EXO's story. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. EXO's MVs are all like one continuous drama or mystery. You will never understand anything about EXO's MVs until you first understand EXO's origin story. As with everything EXO does, you have to keep in mind that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens from Planet Exo and they came to Earth on a mission. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, choreography, concert VCRs and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all.

The last notes are Baekhyun's. Also, the members of EXO are said to have super powers and in this choreo the movements reference the powers of the center member. There is a lot of EXO backstory symbolism in this performance which is like a nice treat for us diehards who study those things. Speaking of Chen, he became a dad today to a very lucky baby girl! Regarding acting, Baekhyun, Lay, Suho, Chanyeol, Kai, D.O., Xiumin and Sehun have all acted in dramas, movies, etc. D.O. in particular is known for his acting as much for his amazing singing and Lay has been acting since he was a child.
