I love it when you pick this stuff apart and show what it can really do. For the money and what they can do I would not bother to buy either. BTW I really love that wire stripper. Never seen one where you did not have to find the right gauge wire and select the wrong one and cut the wire instead of the insulation. I love that wire stripper I won on your channel.

I got it on sale on their website for $250. Took it apart, replaced all the wiring with proper #14AWG copper, and did some more testing. Even with a 520W load, the MOSFETS in the bidirectional inverter only got up to ~50°C which is perfectly fine. At 700W, they would probably be closer to 90°C, but even then they are rated for 150°C. Mine actually puts out 119.95V from the inverter, despite 110V being checked on the PCB. If you press and hold the AC button, it will switch between 50Hz and 60Hz. It also came with a reference card with a list of different error codes and their meanings. They show up instead of the ambiguous "Err". The battery BMS has built-in balance functionality and I tested to confirm it actually works, so the cells will stay balanced. (I have a cheap power station which uses 8 18650 cells in series, 4 in parallel, a total of 32 cells. The BMS has balance functionality, but the station's circuitry only charges the battery up to 4.12V per cell and the BMS starts balancing at 4.15V according to the control chips datasheet. Needless to say, the battery was never balanced and lost half its capacity in a year. I've spliced in a direct connection to the battery and charge it using a proper external charger that goes up to 4.2V per cell.)

Thank you for this review you’re the one and only person who did it in depth review with this unit Amazon is selling this unit for $200 today and I wanted to know if it was worth getting

At $200 that's a fair deal and could be useful to have around.

Looks like it's a bidirectional inverter( at least that's what I call them). A lot of the larger server UPS work the same way. The same goes for the relay circuit. Looks like that power board was originally designed as an actual UPS. That active rectification/totem pole is more efficient.
@jeffescortlx Жыл бұрын
It's a pretty cool design. This is my first time seeing one like this in person.
@FixedUntilBroken Жыл бұрын
@@jeffescortlx you will probably find either AC switch or a totem pole topology. I would guess it also has a PFC controller on there
@edwardlulofs444 Жыл бұрын
I have never heard of a bidirectional inverter, but it does seem to be acting like that.

How is the power meter working. I saw on other reviewers that for capacitive loads, the power reading was way off. Any errors during charging or discharging?
@jeffescortlx8 ай бұрын
Yes with some of the power stations I have reviewed the onboard power meter would degree was a kilowatt under certain load conditions, but with this model I don't remember how bad it was.

There are active rectifiers, that use mosfets/IGBTs and special controller to rectify AC. Maybe that's how they did rectification
@jeffescortlx Жыл бұрын
Yes this seems to be the way it was designed. I would think that would be more complicated, but maybe it helps cut down on component count.

Someone on Amazon said they could charge at 400W from solar by using an XT60 connector. Is that possible, and how is it done? Thanks!
@jeffescortlx10 ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure the charge circuit on this model is limited to around 120 watt.
@Bob_Adkins10 ай бұрын
@@jeffescortlx Charge circuit is supposed to be 500W if you access it with the AC charger or the right DC cable. The guy may have been telling a fib, so I dunno.
@jeffescortlx10 ай бұрын
@@Bob_Adkinsfrom the way I understand it the fast charging is only available from AC. The front barrel DC jack wouldn't be able to support that high of power.
@Bob_Adkins10 ай бұрын
@@jeffescortlx Yeah, my bad. The guy was talking about the 1200W unit, not the little 700w unit I just ordered. But I've been researching, and you CAN boost the solar charging by 100w by making a Y connector with a 5521 barrel connector and a USB C connector and plugging them into the solar input and the PD100w port. The way I understand it, any DC output can also be used as a DC input. Here you go! kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6O2e4OpZd6eq7M

It seems to be the norm that many electronic devices, especially flashlights, battery powered drills, etc. are advertised at way over-inflated ratings. Some of it is just plain ridiculous.

Yes it seems to be with things that are harder to measure/meter. Lumens, decibels ECT.

I saw 2 reports that said the AC charge worked only one and then would not 110V house AC charge.
@jeffescortlx Жыл бұрын
I'm not exactly sure what it is you're explaining. But from what I can tell it can be charged by AC and run the AC outlets at the same time.

@@jeffescortlx Two people reported that after their Powdeom EN700 arrived, they charged the battery using AC. They used it. But the second time that they plugged it into the AC to charge, it reported an error and they could no longer get the unit to charge from the AC. It appeared to me that they were not using another other feature while trying to charge it from AC. I apologize for being so terse that I didn't convey my message properly. One person was an Amazon review. And the other person was the youtube channel "Adventuring with Amanda".

With your knowledge, do you think you could build yourself a good quality unit? I'm amazed how the average person can now have a company like PCBWay manufacturer whatever they want! I wish I was smarter lol.
@jeffescortlx Жыл бұрын
All the parts and pieces are sold separately. So a person could buy a charge controller, inverter and battery and wire it all up. It would be possible to build a high power, high capacity system, but it wouldn't be as portable or integrated in a nice little package. It would be a mess of wires and be clumsy to carry around.

Take a chance if you want to folks, you will be rolling the dice. I tried the 1200w version (it was on sale with a coupon), received it and when I turned on the AC side it just flashed E21 and shut down. I emailed Powdeom multiple times asking what this error was and if there was a reset process. The only response I got was that my local power grid was unstable and that was the reason for the fault. There was no explanation what the E21 meant and they totally ignored the fact that the unit was NOT even plugged into the grid. Multiple more emails and nothing, nada, not even the sound of crickets for a response. Luckily since I just received it Amazon approved a return, but I still had to pay shipping to send it back. Try them if you want. Maybe you will get a unit that actually functions. My advice is to completely avoid this crap company.

Typically in the past when I run into defective products Amazon/eBay will have the seller provide return shipping. Why did Amazon have you pay for return shipping? If you would like to try to contact them again I can see if I have a different email.

@@jeffescortlx Powdeom tried to say that since they were a overseas company they did not have to pay. It was returned to their distribution center in Chicago. Amazon has got back with me this evening and said they were going to charge them the shipping and refund it to me. Great service from Amazon . Lousy service from Powdeom - I will never buy from them again.
