I have grade 3 on medial femoral condyle rather extensive area (arthroscopic imagines show even isolated bone exposed so grade 4!!!) could barely walk a year ago, having trouble sleeping because of pain at 57 years old. Followed Dr. Peng's videos and got hyaluronic acid injection also started oral hyaluronic acid (liposomal form!) at the same time, also take ASU (avocado soybean unsaponifiable) supplement, after a few weeks was able to return to tennis. Then a few months later after watching Dr Peng's PRP videos, got 3ml of PRP (with Xerthra kit, 15ml blood draw), takes time to fully take effect but was playing higher level SINGLES tennis again SIX days a week, 2 hours each session and pain free, some mild discomfort/stiffness after sitting long time or sleeping. ANYWAY yet another great video explaining reading the xrays....as a layperson/google search doctor I had no idea how to read my xrays....NOW I know what to look for!!!! SO SO SO GRATEFUL I didn't get sucked into the old school treatment of cortisone shots!!!! For anyone on a budget I would suggest trying oral hyaluronic acid (liposomal form!!!!), only costs about $20/month, I turned a couple of friends onto it and they say they notice a difference with that alone.

It just happened to me last month when my mother-in-law was hospitalized and I had to take of her at the hospital for few days. I think during these days I strained my knee and then without knowing what happened, I started a very mild pain and some stiffness in the early morning. Now I am stressed and do not know what has exactly happened to my knee.

I am now struggling with what to do about my knees. My xrays for 5+ years have noted the Osteophytes and mild to moderate narrowing of the space. What role might each of the two play in the pain? I want to use PRP, but if the spurs are causing 50% of the pain, the prp is not going to dissolve them (i assume). I have had kidney stones and the last one they had to use a laser with fiber optics to blow it away. Too bad you guys can't do that with a pulse laser to jack hammer the spur away, or can you?
@JeffreyPengMD Жыл бұрын
PRP helps change the biochemistry of an arthritic knee, it does not dissolve bone spurs (nor is dissolving the bone spurs necessary). PRP is just as effective as an arthroscopic surgery for "clean out" without the risks of surgery. PRP also has been shown to slow down arthritis. Hello, if the AP and Lat views of the knee xray are taken in laid position and not standing, will the diagnosis of cartilage loss(joint space)be still accurate?

@@IwillhaveandbecomewhatIwant That's an excellent question! I have recently bought some leg weights. I plan to put one on my bad leg at the ankle and stand on a board, no larger than a 2x4, with the other. I plan to use my red light therapy wrap around my bad knee and slowly raise up with my good leg and stretch out the length of the bad. Presumably, that gap opening and closing will "pump" nutrients and fresh blood into the cavity. This, with the red light therapy might help heal that knee! I'm curious about Dr Peng's opinion is of this.

@mtease9247 Жыл бұрын
What I don’t understand is doctors “bone on bone “ dx … very relative imo. If you can still bend your knees and walk doesn’t mean you need TKA. Yes, and stem cell treatments/ procedures should be first line in healing ! I swear I’m not having a prosthesis unless it’s the last resort ! I get it that orthopods are needed. But I also believe the medical care system should really be a healthcare system! Been 9 yrs now since my own stem cells regenerated my so called “bone on bone knee”, but yet not much in the way of autogulous mesenchymal stem cells being a more mainstream alternative to TJR. I guess the system as a whole , insurance too , simply doesn’t make enough money.
