Best gas seal design in a revolver is the Nagant revolver. Since you have a pump action, it might be very easy to implement into your design. If you need any machined components, please let me know. I have always been a fan of kit guns and I would enjoy being a part of a kit-gun project like this.
@HaloHunter25525 жыл бұрын

I'm thinking of a similar design but the cam slots on the cylinder are reversed and it's a pull forward pump action. The barrel is fixed to the cam pin. When the slide is returned the barrel sleeves over the shell for a nice gas seal. The cylinder is no longer a pressure vessel but just a means of feeding ammunition. I think the jackhammer did something similar but I'm not sure because reference material is sparse. Keep up the good work!

If you chamfer the breach end of the barrel, bevel the muzzle end of the cylinder inserts add a spring pushing the barrel forward and add a stud on the barrel that would cause the pump to push the barrel into contact with the cylinder insert you'd have a gas seal. A gas shield would be much simpler. :p

I subtract about a 1/3 of the factory powder load (by volume) and mix 1/3 grits back in to use on my 'crafty' stuff. It has a lower energy density, the flame front moves through the powder a little slower and the peak pressure isn't as high. Modern smokeless shotgun powder is really some extreme stuff, it develops peak pressures really fast, as I am sure you are experiencing first hand ;)

A system like the Nagant revolver where the cylinder cams forward would work well with shotgun shells. When the hull opens up to release the payload it would also seal the chamber to the barrel. A linkage to the pin that the cylinder tracks on could be used to pull the cylinder forward when you push the slide forward on the loading stroke.

There's a reason why most revolvers have side shields in the front to keep the gases that are coming out from hitting you.try and incooperating that into your shotgun and better polymers for strength you'll find that you won't get gas off your arm anymore or anything like that.
