Thank you very much Jeff! I am fulfilling a dream by finally taking singing lessons at 43. A great challenge as I learn to hear is translating piano notes to vocal sounds in my head so this is very helpful for practicing 😀

What’s a scooper ?

Beyond Magic: A person who comes in on a note below it and slides up to it. Probably due to lack of confidence in finding the note at the beginning. Some people do it in a really exaggerated manner and it’s really annoying.

You talk about things like engagement, air flow, and posture in quite a few of your videos, do you have any lessons that teach/focus on these topics specifically?

Yes. In short! The quick tip playlist will have the theory: kzbin.info/aero/PL2mQP7sE6PHh5rFpz3YOX2oGcZiH7dsLT In terms of practical applications, I'm really fond of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h320dIuOobWphpI Best! Jeff

this is a wonderful resource, thank you..I wonder do you have any videos where you show how to apply techniques like this in actual songs (rather than on the plain vowel sounds)? thanks
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, though admittedly I feel like I need to do more of these. Here's the playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL2mQP7sE6PHg7Um6BQ4cjCY964Qfr0C8_ Thank you! Jeff

Just had the pleasure of watching you teach, Jeff… Really enjoyed your clip… I like your techniques as well as your demeanor… I’ve been working with a female teacher for roughly 6 years now… Definitely enjoyable and I am considering working in a male vocal teacher as well… Do you offer private lessons?

Thanks for that! Yes! If you get in touch with me via my website I can give you all the details!

Heyy Jeff, I really like your videos. Is staying on pitch harder the lower your voice type is because of the bigger vocal cords

Not really. If that's a problem, consider doing some ear training! It will help immensely!

Thank you, Good Sir. I want to improve my ear, and my ability to sing any melody i hear or think of in tune in the first attempt. Is this a realistic goal?
@JeffRolka4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely realistic. Assuming you're warmed up and given yourself a reference pitch. Otherwise, you'll be in tune with yourself, but not necessarily A440. That requires absolute pitch which if you don't already have it, isn't something you can develop in adults. Best! Jeff
@psychicdove97524 жыл бұрын
@@JeffRolka Yes Jeff, i have good relative pitch already, i am focused on fine tuning, as i am already playing guitar and singing my songs professionally. But i want to become expert/ virtuoso level, I love your videos. i have been studying music for about 8 years. I write music and record, i have 1 album completed and i am working on my second album, and I have decided to practice 6 days out of the week for two hours per day.I play with my guitar and or band or backing track, I just want to be faster, and sharper on my notes and more resonant. I am an eternal student of music.
