I can vouch for this great topic by Jeff Su! I basically tried it for fun sometime ago ...then I was like damn it's good! Then I pasted the job posting/description for a position I wasn't really that "qualified" for and asked AI to tailor my resume toward it. Chat GPT made some really great correlations between my experience/skills and that job that I wouldn't have thought of! *Caution you MUST check the accuracy of the info -such as listing a degree you don't actually have.

This is insane. You are literally automating how to be thoughtful. I had no idea ChatGPT was this powerful, nor how unique this art of "prompting" is. What surprises me the most is how this "prompting" is very human like. It's what I imagine you would say to another human being to extract their best ideas / fullest potential. Thanks for the awesome videos, Jeff! You're a stud. (And no this is not generated by ChatGPT...not yet)

ChatGPT will help land someone an interview and/or job/promotion. But being able to perform for the job is what counts at the end. I am not sure that giving the caveat of "...over 20 years of experience," is needed. The LLM doesn't understand time nor experience that would come from time. The goal of prompting is to set the the discussion in search space that is relevant enabling the model to have better context in which to draw from within the vector embeddings. I would be curious what others thought on this issue.

Good video and examples. Be aware that several companies are starting to look negatively on AI responses for career discussions and interview questions. Several will send assignments as part of the process just to check if you are using an AI tool (using AI content detectors or checking document edit history) to respond to prompts and will reject you based on those answers, even if you only used it as a suppliment to your honest answer.

@@JeffSu Weell, you see, long time ago it was quite easy to connect to someone you're interested in through Linkedin. Just write a wholesome message - and it's done. Then lots of mass-connect bot farms spoiled it enough so that you had to really make sure you write something very personal and oustanding to connect to a person. Now with the technology you show - I predict nobody will ever believe anything they get into their inboxes. Unless it's a message from a known real-life person saying "hey man, connect to this guy, he's a real deal".

Essentially people should be looking up back the book for the quick answers to questions they couldn't address themselves on their own. People who uses ChatGPT to the level recommended by the video are often those who are always looking for quick answers with no real understanding of the core subject. I'm sure we all had a colleague whom wouldn't spend some time on youtube for an excel trick, instead they asks someone for a quick solution that they have asked not too long ago. lol. It's probably a great way for people to get into a company but I bet hiring managers will be having a hard time hiring the right person given how advanced this technology is and improvement yet to come.

@@eggriceu In my opinion, if use of AI is wide spread in the interview process where applicants show up with memorized speech and answers to potential questions and/or almost every applicants start to ask questions in the exact same wording, then the society as a whole may move back to on-spot tests that's very specific to the company therefore it's not easily found online. Then comes the problem of people claiming companies are using interviews to get free ideas rather than hiring. There is never a perfect solution to every problem in life, simply because life isn't perfect. it's the society that gotta weight the pro/con of everything in life. no one individual can change the world, we're trending toward more usage of AI for quick assistance in everything in life. it's like as if google is alive and filter out the ads and promoted links you see on top. we always wanted it, but what are the repercussion. lol.

Hey Jeff, can you do a video on how to get past the Workday ATS? there is no video on youtube regarding that, it would also help us, the jobseekers.

That "salary negotiation" conversation was pretty much fantasy. I paused the video a few times and read the whole thing. The job seeker basically said, "I have seen that the upper limit of salaries in this field is x. I would like to get paid that." The interviewer replies, "sorry, our budget is fixed. The salary being offered is y." The job seeker replies, "Well I won't accept the job unless you give me something better than y." Up to this point, it's all pretty reasonable. But this is where is veers into the realm of fiction. The interviewer then lists the non-salary benefits that come with the job, like number of paid days off and 401(k) match policy. The interviewer offers to negotiate on THOSE aspects of the compensation package, but won't budge on the salary. THAT would never happen. Those benefits are not unique per employee or tailored to any given employee's comp package. Those are just standard company policies. Recruiters would be insane to offer to negotiate on those benefits, and a job seeker would be insane to believe such an offer was trustworthy.
@JeffSu

It's a great point R D! To be honest with you, when I was younger and never negotiated anything before, I would still have wanted a "fictional" hypothetical situation like that to prepare myself for the discussion 😁

Very helpful video Jeff! I honestly do not like everything that has to do with "generic job postings" that you focus on but i really like these videos. Would you be able to create more content around networking? I am wondering if an AI LinkedIn Networking could be built. Instead of spending hours each day, how about getting an email or docs spreadsheet with new lead networking opportunities to approach along with CTA. I do realize you do not build such AIs but i want to emphasize the power of networking and my request to keep creating more such content Thank you!

@@JeffSu I think its a really effective video for that and I'll probably use these tips. I think there's also an implied answer in your video, having a great coffee chat / interview kind of can overcome the randomness a little bit. however if you can find a way to use AI to help navigate past the resume black-hole stage into actual conversations with people, I'd watch that video! as someone without tons of professional connections and references i do tend to get stuck in the stage of being a faceless resume.
