bit of an odd place to ask this but, how would one go about getting trained/getting fit for motocross. I had my first ride on a dirt bike a couple of days ago, and absolutely loved it, but I realised I am way too unfit for this sport. I have heard you talk about HIIT before, but is that something I should do every day, and is it something that I should do when I just start going to the gym?

Motocross definitely requires an insane level of fitness when you start getting into longer motos on rough tracks, but a lot of people mistake discomfort for a lack of fitness. Even at my level of fitness, if I go to a track I'm not comfortable on (or if we make a suspension change that I don't like), it makes me hold on tighter and expend more energy trying to manhandle the bike rather than staying loose and letting the bike work for me. On the flip side, I could sit on the couch for a year and still be able to do a 30 minute moto on a track I'm comfortable on. Get a few more days of riding under your belt and focus on breathing, loosening your hand grip (gripping harder with your legs can help), and staying relaxed. You should see huge improvements from those. Doing supplemental work in the gym can definitely help, but the best way to get fit for motocross is to simply ride more.

It's crazy what today's bikes and throttle can handle. I've done that twice on my little track and luckily just kept going. Once due to mud and the other due to a flat tire. Did it on an older yz250 in the mud once... not such a pretty landing.
