"Is “God’s law” violated by such medical use of blood? Is it wrong to sustain life by infusions of blood or plasma or red cells or the various blood fractions? Yes!
The law that God gave to Noah and which applies to all his descendants makes it wrong for anyone to eat blood, that is, to use the blood of another creature to nourish or sustain one’s life.”
“But regardless of whether it is whole blood or a blood fraction, whether it is blood taken from one’s own body or that taken from someone else, whether it is administered as a transfusion or as an injection, the divine law applies.”

“Shall he call his congregation servant or the Society? That should not be necessary if he is prepared to carry his own load of responsibility. He need only ask the doctor:
“From what was the plasma taken?” “How are the red cells obtained?” “Where did you get this substance?”
If the answer is “Blood,” he knows what course to take, for it is not just whole blood but ANYTHING that is derived from blood and used to sustain life or strengthen one that comes under this principle.”

So, at this point the Watchtower is teaching that the divine law of God is violated using either whole blood or fractions from whole blood, or as the Watchtower says, anything that comes from blood.
This is supposed to be what the DIVINE LAW SAYS ON THE MATTER
Did you notice the dogmatic “YES” that they emphatically state about being in violation of God’s word?
Regardless of whether it was whole blood or some fraction from blood - or anything from blood - keep that in mind now!!!
So, if the Watchtower Society is God’s mouth piece and he directs them, would you not conclude that God would know what constitutes violating his own divine word and law? Therefore, the Watchtower Society would have gotten this one correct.
What really got the Society into theological trouble is when they started to break blood into:
1. Scriptural Fractions and
2. Unscriptural Fractions
At this point they had no scriptural reference for these various fractions. Namely, allowing the Jehovah’s Witness to take certain fractions and barring them from taking others.
The question to ask any Jehovah’s Witness that comes to your door is, when did the divine law stop applying to some fractions of blood and not other fractions since their original ruling was not to accept any blood, including fractions?
Can you show a Biblical reference on when blood fractions discontinued being a violation of divine law and how some are now alright to take?
What you read above was merely the opinion of a group of guys sitting around a conference room table making decisions that can affect the lives of many - and their rulings are expected to be accepted as new light from God.

My mom died in ‘96 due to refusing blood or fractions. She was only 39. We all thought she made the right decision back then. It makes me sick to know she could still be here, but died for an organization. You’re whole life you believe in something, and then start finding out things aren’t what they seem.

I got caught up in dealing with Blood Transfusions at 14 in fact it was the year a Watchtower Magazine came out about a bunch of Witness Children who had died from refusing Blood Transfusions. That very year I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia. The same blood cancer some of those kids in the article died from because they didnt get blood transfusions which is a part of the treatment for Leukemia. To make a long story short Drs took my parents to court and a Judge ordered that I received blood transfusions after I cried in court and told them that I wanted to live. Congregation treated me like a pariah after that. Up to that point and really still today I was never caught up in Witness doctrine anyway...I was fascinated by the "Hero" side of being a Jehovah's Witness. I wanted to be heroic like David, Wise like Solomon, and Steadfast like Jeremiah. But at 14 when I should have been caught up in cartoons and video games I found myself crying in a courtroom begging for my life because my parents would not allow Drs to give me Blood Transfusions. I still have issues from that to this day.

I still can't believe that my parents or any parents would willing sacrifice their children for "their" belief. Might as well had just passed me through an altar. Parents are supposed to sacrifice for children not children sacrificing for parents.

I think what parents do to their children by refusing life saving emergency treatment, in a spiritual way, is a form of child sacrifice..which is tragic irony considering those following Bible teaching aren't supposed to sacrifice children or for that matter be responsible for death by going to war, supporting governments that do, etc. They also say the refusal to take blood is bc of the taint of disease. But the risk to rhe individual without blood transfusion is greater. When u need a transfusion, the Risk of Dying is higher without it than getting hepatitis or AIDS with it. This hypocrisy ends up killing the small and weak, the opposite of what being Christian is about in my opinion, and something that would probably piss off Jesus .. There is a reason he told the leaders at the Temple who pointed out he healed on the Sabbath that they would certainly save their animal if it fell in a ditch on the Sabbath. They obey the letter of the law to the degree they bypass compassion. Unless they are going to lose money.

Thank you so much JT and Cathy for all the informative videos about the Jehovah's Witnesses religion, a fascinating subject that reveals a lot about human nature. I must also commend their tone. I really don't like listening to most JW critics. Some of them shout and swear, some of them mock any and all religious believers and paint them as deluded and some others are very snarky and sarcastic. I think they found the right balance. They are calm and optimistic and simply invite people to question things they might take for granted, without ever belittling anyone. It is good to see you both emerged from a painful experience of losing faith in what you thought was the ultimate source of stability and truth, without losing your good spirits!

That's such a powerful point at minute 16, because the JW blood prohibition is NOT based on medical/scientific questions about the efficacy or result of transfuions, rather, supposedly based on Scripture. And they definitely use these types of questions to divert and obfuscate.

thank you for the feed back. one thing is for sure is that they don't like to be questioned. recently I asked a newly appointed elder a question about a article: what did Jesus really look like? the article stated that Jesus beard was neatly trimmed. I explain to him with scripture that Jewish men were not allowed to put a razor to their beard. so after 3 months of not answering me. (I reminded him frequently) he finally answered me. he responded with everything but my question. so I politely asked if he understood the question? (he answered like a Politian) then he said I was being disrespectful to the hard working brothers taking the lead and that I was listening to a different spirit. I said I just asked a question. can you answer it?because the bottom line is the article is saying Jesus broke the law. I never would have thought if you showed just a simple scripture you would get treated differently. the same people you broke bread with, help move and so on would treat people this way. I asked them what sin did I commit? you knock on peoples door asking to learn about the bible. well that's what im doingthey don't like people who have facts

I was a JW for over 40 years I converted when I was shown bible truths. as time went on I ALWAYS ASKED QUESTIONS. but I was a somewhat a model JW . had a big fro and they tried to stop me from going out in service. but I said it wasn't scriptural. it was neat and clean. I went every sat-sun 2 hrs. went to all my meetings assembles, always volunteered. once I saw a vid from walter veith on the UN and the occult societies and a few more. I saw the WT pyramid head stone. that is what open the rabbit hole.I went to the elders and asked why they said nothing about the NWO, POPE etc. it was discgarded. whether agree or not. it was a lot of factual stuff. then I saw JW facts, WT examination etc took down notes documented everything including scriptures you never hear at the KH. yes so now my family don't want to talk religion. and the unconditional love is now conditional. what a eye openerside note: WT headquarters moved further inland because they know whats coming. a wall of water to bring the NWO. please check prophetic pillars

My story is long (I’m going to shorten it), but I almost lost my dad in 2020. My father had a massive stroke in February 2020. He had a couple of clots in his brain caused by undiagnosed AFib. My father was unable to talk. I told my mother that if he needs blood please let him get it. He was wheeled into surgery and she said he would not want blood . Luckily my father survived without massive blood loss. He recovered and slowly gained back the ability to talk. My dad was now on blood thinners to prevent clots. Summer came, my daughter and I noticed my father was weak and nauseous. He would get dizzy and vomit . We insisted he get blood work. The doctor’s office called and said he was bleeding internally possibly and go to the ER. My dad needed a colonoscopy, but because of the blood thinners they had to wait. They said he needed blood, but was refusing it . They said he may not make it through the night. Miraculously he made it through the night and they did his colonoscopy. He had a cancerous tumor that was found. I had JW family members calling my sister telling her what my dad could get instead of blood . The doctor said my dad got all that stuff, but that stuff doesn’t work immediately. It takes time and my dad didn’t have that time . My dad called my mom and asked to her to come get him against medical advice . They wheeled him out weak and close to death . I think because of the corona virus policies in hospitals at that time , he wanted to die with family . It was a rough first few days where I thought he would not make it . With AFib and not having enough blood the doctors said he probably would pass away . Luckily my dad lived . It was such a horrible thing to witness, knowing some blood would help him and him not taking it. My dad was not out of the woods however. He had a really big tumor that needed to come out because he was at risk of bowl obstruction. The surgeons could not operate until weeks later when his blood count came up to safe levels . They feared he would have a heart attack or stroke on the table from not having enough blood circulating. My dad managed to evade death again and got his blood count up and had surgery. He made it through and went on to have chemotherapy. This was such a crazy time, because my parents moved and tried to fade when I was a kid . So my parents were not active. My mom actually doesn’t believe. My dad holds on to certain teachings however that is ingrained in him. Both sides of my family are all witnesses. I have some uncles that are probably what you would consider JW royalty for their area . I was never baptized, but my dad made sure we were raised almost like other JW children. Although, I challenged him on stuff because he didn’t have answers . None of my siblings are JW’s either . So this whole situation was just a huge mess. There is more, but this is long enough lol. I am super grateful I found your channel. You both have been able to answer things that I was curious about . Please keep doing these videos . Thank you!

I had a conservation regarding blood fractions with my J.W brother recently. I pointed out that fractions come from whole blood. How did they come about this blood? Someone according to JW.s had to break gods law to give this blood. How would it be acceptable to J.W's to use blood fractions if they themselves are not allowed to give blood! I gave the example of receiving stolen goods. You would be breaking the law to knowingly receive stolen goods. How is this any different. He didn't have an answer.

all of the Blood Fractions issue started when the Rank + File Anointed [ who were then allowed to "provide food" ] pointed out that Blood Fractions exist in breast milk - WT was faced with 3 choices - drop the blood ban - ban breast feeding [ both unlikely ] or allow blood fractions - highly illogical and by July 2013 the R&F Anointed were demoted to "Domestics" by... the 7 Anointed who didn't demote themselves to Domestics

Transfer of blood fractions such as immunoglobulins from mother to unborn baby occur naturally through diffusion across the placental membrane without an intermixing of the two uniquely different blood systems of mother and child. Further, blood fractions are not necessarily produced by means that are objectionable to JWs. Blood fractions are produced through a process called apheresis that can be achieved in a continuous centrifugal process where the blood is returned to the donor in an unbroken loop in much the same fashion as an autologous blood transfusion and as such would not be objectionable to many JWs.

PIKUACH NEFESH is protecting human life. A Mitzvah (commandment) should not be performed if it means the loss of human life. Its an obligation to teach that humanlife is sacred. Jesus backed up this belief throughout the new testament. My mother would always retell the story of my birth saying that the doctors pressured her and my father by stating that because of hemorrhage during birth, their son would be left without a mother and a young father would be widowed. Her refusal to accept a blood transfusion become her moment of glory!

@@str8shotbeats981 No, it's saying don't eat unbled food. If you go hunting, kill a deer, and hang it upside down to let it bleed out you can eat it raw. If you kill the deer, but dont hang it upside down first to bleed out, then you cannot eat it cooked or raw, because the animal was not bled out first. That's what that means. An active witness can eat raw meat with no judicial actions as long as the animal was bled out. However, if an active witness eats something made from blood, like blood sausage, there will be judicial action. Something like steak tartare, which is a raw beef dish, can be eaten however.

yes the so called Blood Ban is OT or Old Covenant Law - repeated in Acts seems to make it New Covenant Law - JWs are not in the Old Covenant and 99% are Not in the New Covenant either so maybe it only applies to Anointed JWs ? - and it bans "blood and things strangled" [ not drained of blood = obv a Dietary Law ] - hmmm there's a Red Crescent Society which is the Red Cross for Muslims so we know they accept transfusions - a similar Society for Jews in Israel exists [ or watch the news ]

My brother died after refusing blood a few years ago. None of us, (local elders) included clearly understood blood fractions. The doctors looked at the Watchtower material like.."what?" My mom and I felt sooo dumb. The liaison person was a terrible support, coming way too late and knowing too little. It was a horrible experience, but we all felt like he died faithfully. Now i'm thinking he died so young needlessly. Im finally doing my research.

I was prepared to add you video to a compilation that I was preparing for references against jw doctrine, however, when you both began to laugh (5:22) at the circumstance surrounding a scenario about doctrinal change involving the death of a young boy and the survival of another (who so happen to be biological brothers) I started to cry because my brother is dead because of jw doctrine on organ and blood controversy. I feel that it was extremely insensitive (unintentional as it was) many have severe pain about this happening to their family. These jw doctrines cause terrible divisions in families.

I've never understood why everything was so evil. I am currently in my junior year of high school. Lately my mom has been trying to remove me from sports because, it's a waste of time and the people are going to make me do drugs and other harmful things. The only person who is helping right now is my father and he said to leave once you finish school or else you won't get anywhere in life. My best friend died when we were 12...this would have been about '89. She got Leukemia and the doctors took her parents to court. I remember the clip on the news; they could onyl show their feet walking into the courtroom because she was a juvenile so they couldnt show their faces. She told the judge if he forced her to take blood, they might as well rape her because they were violating her body. The courts ruled she had to take blood. When given, she ripped the IV's out of her skin and tried to push the blood out, crying. She did die. But I cant imagine now having that kind of conviction at 12! The amount of brainwashing required is astonishing. But then she always was much stronger in the faith than I ever was. I always rememeber looking at her enviously wishing I could believe as strongly as she did. I stuck with ther religion and was baptised when I was 15 or 16 and finally disfellowshipped when I was 19. One of the best decisions I made. But I still remember my friend often and feel such a sense of sadness

My Mother was a wonderful caring lady. Everyone loved her. She had stopped going to Kingdom Hall for about 10 years because she wasn't zealous enough. She had a pure heart. She got sick and refused the blood. I begged and cryed by her bedside. Telling her to please think of my daughter her only grandchild that was 15 and they were so close. She died 2 months later. I was so lost and confused. I will never step foot inside a Kingdom Hall ever again !!

I personally know of 5 witness children who died because they couldn't take transfusions and there parents are just like shells of their former selves My friends daughter just died from back cancer, and she was 11. If the "slave class" ever says its now ok to take whole blood, I can't even imagine the riots, lawsuits, and max exodus that would result. Membership would decrease by about 30-40%.

this is one of my favorite videos you made. i often leave a comment in your videos that i watched. actually, i am a medical laboratory scientist (here in the Philippines) and also somewhat kinda inactive jw (you know the physically present but mentally absent member). anyway, i did my research about blood transfusion. i am well versed to blood banking and i know and in fact, i made a whole blood separate to its different components and fractions. about my research on jw and blood transfusion to what is allowed and not, i was shocked. Albumin, globulin, and Factor VII can be transfused. I said to myself, what the hell is this (while in my mind, there are conflicts, because in my thought, i know how to derive those. but why, the plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelet components are not allowed? how do they differ to that allowed fractions to be transfused? what is the sense not to transfuse whole blood but those other fractions i mentioned is okay but the 4 other major components are not? in fact, in order to get those factors, i must fist separate that 4 major components from the whole blood. SO IF FACTORS ARE OKAY, WHY ARE MAJOR COMPONENTS (plasma, platelets, wbc, rbc) THAT BROKE DOWN TO THOSE FACTORS ARE NOT OKAY? AND SO WHY NOT ALLOW AS WELL THE WHOLE BLOOD TO BE TRANSFUSED BECAUSE FACTORS WERE SOLELY DERIVED/ORIGINATED FROM THE WHOLE BLOOD, IN A SENSE? sorry for these long comment of mine but, come on. the logic here is lost. after watching this video, i am relieved, saying myself i am not the only one who think like this. thank goodness

No-one wants to be in a situation where they need blood, but according to what I know about Jesus, life is precious, and he would choose life in a medical emergency or for a medical treatment. The utmost best anyone can do is keep the Watchtower OUT of their decisions. As far as I know, blood can only help us when blood is in the arteries and veins, not in the gut.

I live in Norway and an Ex jw. Before i should be get my fibromes operations the doctors told me since am a jw and do not want blood. They will operate me as longer i do not accept blood transfusion. I told them that am not anymore a jw so i signed i accept blood transfusion. Now am pregnant and happy😊😊 It is a new rule to the hopital if you refuse blood transfusion for your operation they will refusing you the operation. Better for you to live your bible principles outside of the hospital.

Watchtowers stand on the use of blood ignores the following God-given stipulation: Lev 17:13 states that if someone kills an animal for food he must "pour the blood out on the ground and cover it with dust". Deut 12:15 and 15:23 says blood must be "poured out as water." In other words, dispose of the blood! Act 15:20 says ABSTAIN from blood. That being the case, how can it be considered scriptural for blood fractions to be acceptable medicine, because blood obviously has to be collected, transported and undergo medical procedures before reaching the patient? It could also be argued (as I once suggested) that even approving the use of blood samples taken from a patient for medical tests actually violates the Mosaic Law. So timeline 1945 to 1982 should still apply scripturally, according to watchtowers claim to be the "Guardian of Doctrine"

Good work, fellows. You can not have a teaching on Monday that gets changed on Friday. That’s why I acknowledge and keep the Seventh day sabbath. I’ve never seen a New Testament text that undermines this commandment of God. Jehovah carved it in stone to show that it is unchangable. This principle is also why I reject the trinity. I am a Seventh day Adventist, and I learned that for over 75 years we rejected the trinity but now we say that the trinity doctrine is true. I studied what the early Adventist taught about the trinity and then I rejected the trinity also! As a result, the Seventh day Adventist Church disfellowshipped me! Lucky for me that the Seventh day Adventist do not believe in shunning! However, since learning the errors of the trinity, and since the idea of Adventist’s changing gods is a huge deal to me, and since I won’t keep my mouth shut about it, they have banned me and my friends from attending any Adventist Church in the state of Michigan. Please pray for the Adventist people...... they have changed gods and don’t know it.

Interesting thing about the excerpt from Watchtower w61 9/15 “Respect the Sanctity of Blood”: the part where it says “whether it is blood taken from one’s own body...the divine law applies” if THATS the case then getting a shot or blood drawn would violate God’s word. I always liked new ways of understanding issues- whether holidays or medical- but making issues an edict from God- but it seems equally wrong to think God would condemn you to death if you celebrate holidays (disfellowshipping) etc al. But whatever the case, it creates difficulty leaving or staying the org because that becomes your reality-your life- leaving is like trying to find a new reality- a new life that somehow gets/got sabotage because of choices we have/had to make. The costs are especially the result because JWs became a high control group instead of a guiding force for support and community.

This directly caused the death of my dad. The elders who came to the hospital where he was fighting a rare cancer, so yes the cancer may have killed him regardless just not when he died, they told him he could at that point in 2007 accept bone marrow if it didn't "hurt their conscience as it is a conscience matter" but he absolutely could NOT under any circumstances accept the platelets he desperately needed at that point. He had no clotting factor left due to his platelets being destroyed and he bled slowly over the final two days. It was horrific, from everywhere. I went to his services at the KH then left the organization.

The discussion for example at 2:10 mark gives the impression that blood transfusions have been a constant invariant feature of medical practice and that JWs have evolved a response to a medical constant. The facts are that use of blood transfusions prior to 1945 was very limited and surgical procedures were exceedingly dangerous associated with very high probabilities of patient mortality that increased dramatically with duration of the surgery. Surgeons prided themselves on the speed with which procedures were completed not the precision of the incisions because precision depends directly on time spent. If a major hemorrhage occurred the patient was left on the operating table to die so that most persons prior to 1945 would only accept surgical intervention as a last resort! It was only in the late 1940s that blood transfusions became a standard part of surgical practice. Might this not explain why there was a time period after 1945 when JWs had to firstly determine what blood transfusions actually entailed as ignorance on the subject was extremely wide spread in the community, much like cellphone use today, and then secondly to develop a considered scriptural response to them?

that is why, they don't like me much in our congregation. when they have their public talks, they are saying that, doctors , and other health professionals will be gone in paradise. and they are laughing sarcastically about it. At this point they will start to wriggle over the definitions of words (a standard technique) and try and generalise the definition of 'God.' Point out that only one God is worthy of worship and he has NO god beside him; their NWT even states this. Shows how much they do NOT believe their own translation. Isaiah 44:6,8 6 This is what Jehovah says,The King of Israel and his Repurchaser, Jehovah of armies:‘I am the first and I am the last. There is no God but me. 8 Do not be in dread,And do not become paralyzed with fear. Have I not told each of you beforehand and declared it?You are my witnesses. Is there any God but me?No, there is no other Rock;+ I know of none.’” 5. Ask them can an Angel forgive sins as Jesus forgives sin? Only God can forgive sins? (At this point you will be blacklisted for life and they will NEVER visit you again.

My brother and sister-in-law are Jehova Witnesses and they are very much against blood transfusions. My sister-in-law is having major surgery soon and is worried the doctors will demand a blood transfusion. My brother asked the doctors and found out they can use artificial blood. So they will not accept natural blood but are okay with artificial blood. I have read several articles and I have so many questions and doubts. I am more confused now then before.

There is no such thing as artificial blood. So I am not certain what exactly was approved. It is absurd to take a Hebrew scriptures prohibition on eating blood when you take an animals life to eat it out of respect for that life, and make it mean you cannot accept certain blood products from an alive, willing, human donor......whole accepting other parts of that same blood. It's lunacy, and completely ignorant of scripture to boot.

One point you miss in this presentation (it is very good!) is that we Christians are not under the Old Testament Law any more. It doesn't matter what it says in Leviticus because we are New Testament (new covenant) believers!
