Another great video Seth, dealt with in a loving and kindly fashion. On a personal level, I chose to get re-baptised when I left the WT around twenty years ago and became a Christian. I also went through the old JW baptism questions and renounced each statement out loud in prayer because I came to realise that I had, in essence, swore allegiance to the WT in ‘accepting that my baptism identifies me as one of JW’s in association with the organisation’. This was a personal decision but I would advise anyone who has left and become a Christian to renounce and repent of the many untruths perpetuated by the WT. I have seen so many lives driven to ruin by that organisation; I do believe that we can bring many tribulations upon ourselves (Derek Prince would say curses) in misleading both ourselves and others by corrupting the Word of Our Lord. That comes with a heavy price indeed!

Hi again! It's a pretty standard teaching from the Watchtower that after Jesus returned in 1914, he began inspecting Christianity to see who was sincerely following him and who wasn't. They draw a parallel between Jesus's first coming and how 3.5 years after his baptism, he cleansed the Temple in Jerusalem. So they say, 3.5 years after 1914, he cleansed the "temple" of Christendom, finding only the Watchtower to have proven faithful. Everything below can be found on their online library and I'll cite the url's for you. "Jesus was baptized and anointed as King-Designate at the Jordan River about October 29 C.E. Three and a half years later, in 33 C.E., he came to Jerusalem’s temple and threw out those who were making it a cave of robbers. There appears to be a parallel to this in the three-and-a-half-year period from Jesus’ ‘sitting down on his glorious throne’ in the heavens in October 1914 until his coming to inspect professed Christians as judgment began with the house of God." (wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1101988006) "Let Christendom deny that 1918 is the date of the Lord Jehovah’s sudden coming to his spiritual temple as the God of judgment, accompanied by his Angel of the covenant Jesus Christ. Nonetheless, the time of judgment is here upon all who claim to be God’s house, whether truthfully so or falsely, and judgment has been in progress since the spring of 1918 onward... Christendom cannot accept the real Christ in his kingly, priestly role today since the Kingdom’s birth in 1914... But who is it that has been able to face this day of his coming to the temple with his covenant Angel and to endure it? It is those who have sincerely been seeking Jehovah." (wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1955847?q=1918&p=par) Then, as far as JW's referring to Christianity as "Babylon the Great", there are many references I could cite, but one of their articles details how Christianity became the great harlot of Revelation by the Fourth Century. "The truth is that by that time an apostate form of Christianity had joined the pagan religious organizations of the Roman Empire as members of Babylon the Great." (wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2016843) I hope that helps!

Great overview Seth. I've always found it interesting how cults always do something weird with the cross- either straight-up denying it like the JW's do, or by insisting that the *real* Atonement happens elsewhere like the Mormons believe. It all goes back to 1 Corinthians 1:18- For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

As a former JW, I would say your video is pretty accurate on their beliefs. You definitely did your research. Although I’m agnostic, I thought it would be interesting to see someone else’s take on the religion and its doctrine which is why I decided to watch but I’m glad you also highlighted some of their worst beliefs which are the no blood doctrine and the disfellowshipping. I myself moved 19hrs away from my family when I woke up and realized it wasn’t the truth as they like the call it but I couldn’t express that out of fear of being shunned. 2 yrs later they still don’t know as I’m working towards that in therapy. I think highlighting these unloving practices that Watchtower has gaslighted their followers into believing are un loving and Christlike by someone who has never been a JW could help people realize they aren’t who they appear to be the quirky people who knock on your door. It’s nice it’s not just coming from a ExJW but someone on the outside. I’m only 18 min in but if you don’t touch on it they also have a issue with covering up child sexual abuse which comes from the top most everyday JWs don’t even know it’s a problem and that’s what woke me up. They were so critical of the Catholic Church and is no different. Also the way they treat domestic violence is harmful as well. Blaming the woman and you cannot remarry even in situations as that.

It is very hard to evangelize JWs. When they understand they are speaking with somebody who is actually knowing the Christian doctrine, they will never come to your door again. I am a Catholic theologian, and this has happened to me a few times. They think speaking with people like us is dangerous. It might be, because we do know our arguments. Using verses from a wrong Bible is not an argument for a Catholic who is denying Sola Scriptura in the first place. Trying to show how JW organization was the Magisterium is pretty much doomed effort. No real Church in 2000 years, until Russell came up with his sect? Come on. JW are biblical literalists, but with their own version of the Scripture, which contains many modifications to accommodate the heresies they subscribe to. As a sect with Protestant roots (namely in Adventism), they keep Sola Scriptura, but to do that, they had to change the Scripture. The modern JW could be described as a neo-Arianist sect in their understanding of God.

8:27 onwards: The JWs claim that the resurrected Jesus was a spiritual invisible creature. All the words in this statement are offensively wrong. To begin with, Jesus is not a creature. He is the creator. And how did Peter and the other apostles, and over 500 people claim to have seen Jesus after the resurrection and also during his ascension to heaven? Hence, he wasn’t invisible. And whose body was Thomas asked to inspect to verify the bruises of the torture? A spirit has no physical injuries, but the resurrected Jesus did, implying that he had some sort of a physical body. And didn’t Jesus say that deceivers would come in his name, claiming that he had returned, and that he was to be found in the desert and in the inner rooms? Isn’t this literally what JWs claim that happened in 1914? Their main theological problem is that they haven’t decided if they are Christian, Jews, Adventist, or a twisted mixture thereafter. In brief, everything related to this sect is a deception against the scriptures

@FrankLee-gq8yc to be honest. There are no doubts. Just truly disagreements with how child abuse is handled. As a new father and someone that has been privy to the abuse of friends of mine it has soured me. And maybe also the new direction the GB is taking on something’s to just be more appealing to the “world” so no one or no one government can scrutinize them. It shows that there maybe something deeper going on. Like Aiken when he hid his intentions and what he did by burying the stolen goods from the spoils of war instead of dedicating it to YHWH like was commanded, judgement wasn’t withheld from the Israelites, but the GB won’t take responsibility for actions of what maybe a small minority or a majority of the leadership within their own ranks or the men that serve below them shows a wicked spirit. They rather change policies or play word games to make it seem like nothing is happening when in all actuality it is. I still put faith in God, as Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40 I try to lead my life by those principles because all other things morally right will follow if you try to apply that at least.

They can certainly be kind and loving! But so can atheists, Muslims, Mormons, and of course, Evangelical Christians. That's not necessarily a reflection of how correct their theology is. The question you always have to go back to is, "What does the Bible say?" And sadly, many of Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs contradict what the Bible says. So much so, that they eventually had to create their own Bible and change the wording to reduce the conflicts between the text and their teachings.

But when a translator is not able to translate a name into new language, it shold stay untranslated. For example of I will translate a slovanic form of name Petr in to English I will go like Peter. Easy. But if there is a name that has not a relevant word in the new language, than it should stay as it is, not replaced. If will translate your name form English text, you will not expect me to go with "a KZbinr" but to keep your name Seth. Also the Old Testament is clear how god honors his name, so is clear how ancient Israelites did it too. In writings, songs - psalms etc. So I would say in the same way JWs massively changed the New testament, to make it fit their Old testament view of a god (added Jehovah to over 200 places where the text speaks about Jesus), Major Christian denominations altered the Old Testament to make it more in line with their New testament view of a god and eliminated from Old Testament a word that was the most important one for Israelites and therefore written in Old Testament sever thousands times. So I would say they have "a different god" like they have invented some new god. I would say, that more precise would be, They have stuck with the Old Testament view of a God. Therefore and for many other reasons, they are called "Old Testament based Religion"

I'll have to disagree with the part of God only creating one thing, that is not a correct interpretation of what JWs believe. The Michael part is weird but the rest is just the same as what all christians believe based on John 1:3 “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” So God made everything through him, not that he made Jesus and Jesus made everything else.

Hi there! That's true- Jehovah created through Michael. However, Michael himself was the only thing Jehovah made directly (as in, without using a middle-man). I think that's what I was getting at. Since Christians don't believe Jesus was created at all, that point serves as a significant theological difference between us. Thanks for watching!

Sorry, Jesus isn’t God, nor equal to God. He called our God and Father his God and Father at John 20:17. See also: 1 Corinthians 8:4-6 4 Now concerning the eating of food offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is no God but one. 5 For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him. And…… John 17:3 “This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” The only true God…..

I watched your video. It looks like you try to reason that Jesus has a God only when he’s a human. But he also calls our God his God when he is in heaven. Rev 3:12 “The one who conquers-I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem that descends out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.”

@stevenwebb6253 Hi again Steven! Thank you for checking it out. Christians also believe Jesus is *still* a human even today. Unlike the Watchtower, we don't believe the Incarnation ever ended. He will be truly God and truly man for all eternity, which means it's still appropriate for him to address The Father as "his God" even in Heaven!

First off, thank you for being open to discussion. I’m not trying to convince you, I’m just sharing scriptures and a different perspective. I’m sure you’re familiar with this scripture, 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness.” Please read: 1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ died once for all time for sins, a righteous person for unrighteous ones, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.” 1 Timothy 3:16 “Indeed, the sacred secret of this godly devotion is admittedly great: ‘He was made manifest in flesh, was declared righteous in spirit, appeared to angels, was preached about among nations, was believed upon in the world, was received up in glory.’” 1 Corinthians 15:50 “But I tell you this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s Kingdom, nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” What is obvious to me might not be obvious to others. Jesus human body did not go to heaven. After he was resurrected, Mary didn’t recognize him until he spoke. (John 20:14-16) He obviously looked different, being he had a different body, a spiritual body if I may. So the question is, if that is the case, where did his physical, human body go? No one really knows. But there may be a clue with Moses. For some reason the Devil was interested in Moses’ body. Jude 9 “But when Miʹcha·el the archangel had a difference with the Devil and was disputing about Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a judgment against him in abusive terms, but said: “May Jehovah rebuke you.”” I’m sure that Jehovah, thru Miʹcha·el, disposed of Moses’ body so that the Devil would not have access to it. Might the same thing have happened to Jesus’ physical body, especially after knowing that flesh cannot go to heaven? (1 Corinthians 15:50, quoted above)

1st, let me thank you for your ending words, labelling JWs as victims trapped in a cult. Most of rank & file JWs (not the hierarchy) are very kind people. Even your motivations to help them are a bit different than me (I am agnostic) I admire your zeal to help them get free. But please, accept advice from the exJW community. I understand that most of the christians and especially evangelicals believe that the best way to wake up a cultist it to preach the true gospel. And to argument about Trinity, Divinity of Jesus etc... you know what I mean. Please do not. Why? 1st, It is like stealing their most precious friend . Most of them really have a relationship with a god called Jehovah. Like you do with Trinity/Jesus. If an atheist would try to steal that idea from you would you listen to it? You need to build and mutual foundation. Accept even their bible for the start. Even they truly believe ALL of their teachings is based on their bible, it is not. There is a ton of topics to start with. Ask question they cannot answer using even their bible. few examples: 1. Can we agree that all our teachings have be based on bible? Yes Can we agree that adding teachings to bible is in contrary to what Jesus warned us? Yes. I understand that you try to obey Acts 15:29 and avoid blood transfusion. And I remember from your web site, that blood should be spilled back into ground as bible says. That bad include 4 major blood parts Red blood cells, White cells, Plasma and Blood pellets. But I also know that for several years you are allowed to accept blood fractions like hemoglobin (fraction of red cells.) - Can you show me in your bible where is says that blood fractions are Ok, but blood parts are forbidden? - If I take 1litre of a blood, it contains approx 0,4litre of hemoglobin, which is a fraction and approx 1centiliter of plasma. Can you should me from the bible, that Jehova or Jesus is OK with accepting 0,4 litre of haemoglobin (40% of blood) but will kill us in armagedon for accepting 1% of blood in a form of plasma? - If a JW, a Christian is free to accept a blood fraction, a fraction that comes from donated blood, is a christian allowed to donate blood to save others with his blood fractions? Where bible says so? or. 2. I understand that JWs tries to avoid pagan traditions like Birtdays, the reasons are: Pagan origin, too much unhealthy - worship like attention to one person, no mentioning christians would celebrated. OK, Imagine this scenario I know happened. A family has twins. On the day of the birthday of the twins they are not allowed to celebrate it. No party, no gifts, no cake, no family and friends invited etc. Very Next day, the family has a party with family and friends, big cake, gifts, a lot of attention to two people. It was a wedding aniversary of their parents. Both occasions have pagan origins, Both have a lot attention to two people. And non of them bible recalled to be celebrated by Christians in 1st century. Please show me in your bible why the celebration of two kids is a disfeloshipping offence and a death in armagedon. The celebration of their parents is perfectly fine. There are tons of such though provoking questions. Insist on the answer, humbly ask them to get the answer prepared and return. it will devastate them. They have noisier ever think about it. they will be in shock it is not in bible and that they do not have an answer.

The LORD God will give him the throne of his father David," John Ch.10:29NIV"My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than ALL c ; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. " The God and Father of Jesus christ is the MOST HIGH God and thus is co equal to no one. John Ch.8:54NIV"Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. " According to Jesus his God and Father is the one and only God of Israel . By common consent the God and Father of Jesus is not triune. Therefore the one and only God of Israel is not triune. John ch.20:17NIV"Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”" The God and Father of Jesus is not triune by common consent . The God and Father of Jesus is also the God and Father of Jesus' disciples . Therefore the God and Father of Jesus' disciples is not triune. Matthew Ch.24:36NIV"“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, f but ONLY the Father. " ONLY the God and Father of Jesus Christ is omniscient thus only the God and Father of Jesus Christ is the MOST HIGH God. Roman's Ch.1:9EHV"To be sure, (the)God, whom I serve with my spirit by proclaiming the gospel of his Son, is my witness to how constantly I make mention of you. In all my prayers, " Roman's Ch.3:30NIV"since there is only ONE(Grk.eis) God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. " Paul was an actual monotheist and thus rendered exclusive sacred service to one most high God. Whom he clearly identifies as the God and Father of Jesus Christ. Matthew Ch.16:16NKJV"Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”" not merely the living Father but the living God to whom all believers owe EXCLUSIVE Devotion/Sacred Service. Malachi Ch.2:10NIV"Do we not all have one Father b ? Did not one God create us? Why do we profane the covenant of our ancestors by being unfaithful to one another?" The God and Father of Jesus Christ is the only true God.

@aservantofJEHOVAH7849 Hi again friend! I would challenge you to watch my video on the Trinity and tell me specifically which verses I misinterpret and how. Ultimately the defining factor in what we should believe about God is what He has chosen to reveal about Himself in His Word. If we base our theology purely on what makes sense in our finite human understanding, there is very little in the Bible we will ever be able to accept.

@@aservantofJEHOVAH7849 You can’t fully understand how God has existed from all eternity, but you believe it because the Bible teaches it. You can’t fully understand how Jesus created all things, but you believe it because the Bible teaches it. You can’t fully understand how Jesus walked on water, healed the blind, and raised the dead, but you believe it because the Bible teaches it. Don’t hate in Trinitarians because you think their beliefs defy “common sense” and “logic”. Otherwise you undercut your own theology as well.
