Watching Gregorio in 2016 and again now reprising his role, it's just so amazing to see how much he's truly grown and improved! And I can say, without a single doubt, he's possibly the best actor to ever portray Jekyll/Hyde in any production of this musical.

Currently doing a character study of this show as an adult (doing community theatre and working with a vocal coach as a hobby while being a full-time teacher/adjunct professor), and this is just *chef's kiss*. This was the first Broadway song I was ever introduced to as a child, as it was my Mom's favorite song & show, and I was so excited to be able to sing it recently in a cabaret put on by my music studio. I'm preparing for an audition in August '25 for this show, going through the entire book and learning/perfecting each song. Gregorio modeled this so beautifully and has the most sensational operatic tenor voice! It's like listening to a young Pavarotti or Bocelli! Bravo!!

As an Australian, I will always love Anthony Warlow's rendition of this song. I have to say though, I am absolutely spellbound by Gregorio Umaña's performance here. Bravo! As others have said, please send this talented man to Broadway. 💯

Just had to add this after watching the first time they performed this scene; in both cases the song was performed beautifully. This scene shows such growth as actors; while they both did great work both times this version shows a great level of professionalism. Where a few years back it was well acted this shows such growth in understanding the material. The actors emphasized and showed emotion in places here that was not present in the older version. Great work in learning and understanding the meaning behind the words and growth as thespians. Stage work like this is in line with the level of talent I would expect in a Broadway production.

"not an easy song" is the unstatement of the year! I´ve performed this song as a professional numerous times and can admit without envy that his performance highly impressed me. I´ve listened to it a couple of times and only in the end did I realize I was watching with my mouth open, flabbergasted and a tear rolling down my cheek. It´s edgy, some things I would have done differently, but I´m sure he has bright future ahead of him!
