Ecuadorian here, my mom and family will say your 'ojeado' if you start getting sick after interacting with someone. You can be ojeado in a bad way or a good way like too much praise and smiling.. idk. Anyways we usually leave an egg out in the counter for couple hours or 24hrs. You pass it over the person thats ill. And if theres an 'eye' some type of bubble or discolored almost red color circle that was confirmation that you were ojeado. Then you flush it.

This was really fun and interesting to watch! As someone who was born and raised in Louisiana (a state viewed as extremely superstitious/in to *Voodoo) it was very intriguing to hear about another culture’s take on such topics. I’ll admit, I did get a little concerned from the title due to being raised here, as it’s said that even making or buying a **Voodoo doll with intentions of using it for malice or harm is said to only invite the same harm to be done to the maker/owner of such doll and their surroundings x2. It was also really cool to hear that there is a similar superstition in Malaysia that feels strongly about jinxing good things, as most of us in Louisiana feel lol! I love your videos and it was so cool to see IRL jellie!! I can’t wait to see more from you :)! *Specifically Louisiana Voodoo, which while it has elements of Southern Hoodoo, Haitian Vodou and West African Voodoo, is it’s own specific religion ** While “Voodoo dolls” are seen in many different religions, Louisianan Voodoo Dolls aren’t the same as the stereotypical voodoo dolls (Dolls made from Straw or simple cloth, which actually came from European “poppets” with no Haitian/West African Voodoo connection) and aren’t usually used in the same way. Louisiana Voodoo dolls, which are usually porcelain but may also be made of cloth and other materials, are usually used for sitting on alters and are used to help the spirit that the alter is made for to more easily notice the offerings and prayers made to that specific spirit, and therefore usually “represents” or “embodies” said specific spirit. So, if you were to pray and make offerings to that spirit’s representative self, then use it in a malicious way (especially if the spirit has no connection to being harmful, like a spirit of Love or Wealth) then not only are you upsetting nature and angering the spirits of the afterlife (the afterlife is said to mirror the living earth, with the afterlife’s difference being basically a huge party. Only the afterlife may change the living world, and get to choose the favorable outcome-if any- that happen to those that pray to them, since the spirits are taking their own time out of having fun in the afterlife to focus on helping the not-as-fun living. For example: if you pray for wealth, it’s up to the spirits to decide how much wealth you actually get, when you get said wealth, and even if they feel the prayers/offerings are even worth the effort the sprits put in to making it happen. So, if you mess with the living mirrored world and it’s surroundings, then the spirits will *definitely* see the difference and get angered that you’re-quite literally-ruining their party and rush to show you just how upset they are!) you are also essentially harming and mistreating the powerful spirit that represents/embodies the doll, which is why it’s seen as a very foolish thing for a mortal to do, especially if the person doesn’t practice Louisiana Voodoo or doesn’t understand the severity of doing so in regards to the religion.

I relate to this a lot, mostly brazilians are christians but we have so many things in our culture that came from african and indigenous cultures. It's kind of hypocrisy in my opinion because most Brazilians are always criticizing these cultures but still do certain things. It sucks that Portuguese culture made this superiority thing up and now Brazilians talk shit about their own culture.

Oh yes, the concept of bad eye exist here too and it's called malocchio (mal=bad, occhio=eye). And of course exists some rituals to get it away, curious practises halfway paganism and christianity. I think it's nearly impossible for a new religion to completely erase a previous faith, that's why things like that still survive. Also, earing similar experiences from the other corner of the world make me happy, we humans are all the same we just speak in different languages :)

I think most Asian countries that has Roman Catholic religion is like this... Because it is our culture we follow it and just added the Roman Catholic beliefs. And by the way, Malaysian culture has similar beliefs with most Asian countries so if your confused, your not alone bro... your not alone... And there's nothing to lose, if you follow and believe so its up to you... And because we are originally pagans so its normal... BTW, there is another version of Voodoo doll that you can make that is less messy but really weird; I'm not sure if your interested with that as well... 😅😅😅

Hello! I'd just like to elaborate a little bit about the evil eye for those who'd like to know more about it. This sounded a lot like something I had been told as well (Muslim Asian btw). The evil eye is a famous form of black magic, it is commonly spread in the religions of Hinduism, Budhism and Islam. I am not exactly sure if the evil eye is being mentioned in Christianity so please correct me QwQ. When someone compliments about you with a nice face but has an alternate or horrible intention about it, then it is believed the Evil eye is cast upon you. The thing is they don't have to be complimenting you, just the horrid intention and envy is enough for it to take effect. There are 7 billion people in this world and not everyone is good so you should expect some people like this. The thought has gotta be something like: "Ugh, she has such a nice marriage, I wish she didn't have the privilege" or something like that and in the near future something horrible would happen, like divorce or financial problems or even constant fighting. The more hatred is being fueled in this envy, the stronger or more difficult it is to remove and more gruesome effect it has, not only that but if the Envy is an average jealousy of a human being, a simple prayer will not work and the Evil Eye would be difficult to remove. This is why the Evil eye is genuinely feared by most Asians and considered most common and a powerful form of Black Magic. Many Business Companies use the Evil Eye to bounce the Profit of their opponents so that they have a higher chance of success. P.S: Avoiding using the Evil Eye is the best option cuz it will bite your ass later (consequences of the same extent).

Hello! friendly neighborhood chinese person here! So I'm a person thats like you and I question everything ( like why the chinese languge must have two characters that look exactly the same but pronounced and means different things ) anywyas so I actually decided to ask my dad for the answers to your question this are his beliefs that he grew up with and same with my mom so it might not be the same for everyone lets go! Chinese new year , we wear red because for us its means happiness and for luck same reason we wear that for weddings , We give people money as a reward for a good year, and hope its will also be good year next year. ( also proably used to bribe kids to behave )We also uses fire crakers(fire works ) because they are loud and bright and they scare off evil ( and fun to look at) These traditions are really old so theres no definite answer on why we do them but I suppose that's what's fun about traditions , plus free moeny so fun times with family! Last note! Great video!!!❤ lightings is on point and the doll looks hella cool even with blue string💖
