Jelly Roll Jamboree Quilt Pattern // TUTORIAL!

Get the Jelly Roll Jamboree PDF Pattern: bit.ly/JellyRollJamboree
Jelly Roll Jamboree Quilt finishes at 76" x 76"
Sew all seams using a scant 1/4" seam allowance.
YOU WILL NEED:
1 Moda Jelly Roll (or 42- 2.5" x 42" strips)
1 yard sashing fabric (white)
1 yard - border 1 fabric
1-1/8 yard - border 2 fabric
5/8 yard - binding fabric
4-3/4 yards - backing/batting
Sew 4 strips together along the long edge. Make 8 strip sets
Cut each strip set into (5) 8-1/2" x 8-1/2" squares. Make 40.
(P.S. Save your leftover blocks for a bonus project coming next week!)
SASHING:
Cut (17) 1-1/2" x WOF strips.
Using 6 strips, cut (30) 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" strips.
Sew the remaining 1-1/2" strips end to end.
Cut these into (7) 1-1/2" x 54-1/2" strips and (2) 1-1/2" x 56-1/2" strips.
BORDERS:
Border 1: Cut (6) 4-1/2" x WOF strips. Sew end to end.
Border 2: Cut (7) 6-1/2" x WOF strips. Sew end to end.

This was my first quilt ever, almost two years ago, with next to no instruction. Right off the bat, the jelly roll I bought was only 20 strips, so first lesson learned. Then I cut about half the wrong size, so second and third lessons learned. It came out beautiful anyway, and another lesson learned. It was gift for my mom who is living with chronic stage 4 cancer. It was all done and washed, ready to gift, and the day before, she mentioned she needed a new king size comforter.😮😮😮. Off came the binding, and another lesson learned to add additional borders! I'm about 20 quilts in, mostly for Project Linus, and almost two years later to the month, I have two Jelly Roll Jamboree tops in progress on my design walls, headed for Project Linus. Thank you Erica, for giving me the start of something wonderful!

I totally understand how you feel about jelly rolls, they are like a beautiful flower that you don’t want to mess with because you want us to stay beautiful forever. I am acquiring jelly rolls and I have used one so far. After watching your jelly roll quilt that you just made I want to make a jelly roll quilt just like it. Yes! Thats the way to do an instructional video.😙 I wanted to make the oval jelly roll rug but my hands just arent strong enough. So, i decided to make one with the strips made into blocks that turn in opposite directions (if i knew what that design was called, id have found you sooner!). Hadnt seen this style w sashing between blocks, but that will be even better. Thank you for teaching us. And thanks for not blathering on about your problems, your hubs, kids, and pets😥. I love your tutorial... I’ve had two jelly rolls for several years and this inspired me to unwrap one. I spent a couple of days thinking and finally I tossed them in the air and used the one that landed closest to me! The struggle is real!

Love, love, love this video! I have the same struggle with unwrapping jelly rolls. They look so pretty on my shelf and once you unwrap them, they can never be re-wrapped the same. And since they are starting to take over the cabinet a bit...I'm going to make this quilt next! I also love the fact that you are in the same state as I am. That blizzard was NUTS! We shoveled and 5 hours later it looks like we hadn't done a thing.
