Saw them twice in Seattle. Frekin' unreal!!! Don't say that lightly, songs are extremely catchy. Beatles of the 90s.

Title just promised two songs and I still clicked. Why? Because Jellyfish never made a bad song, I’d be happy to listen to any two!

I saw the concert in Stockholm as well - brilliant! Thought this band would this band would become the new Beatles- really loved them! Today I´m listening to RJ Manning Jr and I'm fascinated how he can continue to produce these awesome tunes! Thank you for the music! (From Sweden - no pun intended..)

Bobby, this is on a show called "The 8:15 from Manchester", a saturday morning BBC TV show from 1990-1992, starting at about 815 and going on most of the morning with guests, bands, cartoons etc.

Omg, I remember that evening in Stockholm! Went straight from the hospital, by taxi to the concert, with high fever and my finger bandaged (beacause of a severe infection in a badly healed wound) :-D But dang- I looked good in my black velvet bell bottoms, black belly t-shirt + the white bandage!! And after the show, I fainted in the cloakroom!! LOL those were the days!!

I know there was a lot of airplay that's how I discovered them, studios in LA may well use their tunes however the point I was making these guys were so bloody good that they should have made it big time they deserved global stardom, I still love their music

Interviewed by Diane Oxberry, who I knew in the 90's - and was lovely.
@TimmyGMusic5 жыл бұрын
Cool interview! It's a shame that British shows back in the day made artists lip sync and play to a track... these guys were MORE than capable (amazing musicians) and I can see them physically playing all of their parts perfectly in the video

Jellyfish did somer shows with The Black Crowes... What an early 90's musical treat that would have been... Unfortunately when I saw The Crowes, The Verve supported them, and I never got to see Jellyfish :(

Strange to see Jason relegated to second fiddle. Just shows you how good they were - Sturmer, Manning and Falkner were all incredible musicians

CD box set (called Fanclub) - I should add there isn't anything here that would gone onto a third release. A couple of rare demos, mainly hangovers from the Beatnick Beach, but alas no lost third CD release.

@dhsugarblade They were big time mainstream when they first started. Constant radio and MTV play. Then their second album Spilt Milk was so popular that sudios in LA today still use it to tune their rooms. 9 years after their break up there was still such a huge fan base they released a 4 CD box set full of songs that were pro-recorded but not yet released. They were gonna go on a 3rd album I imagine because they're CD quality songs. See if you can find it.

such an amazing yet underrated band eish people would have realised how good they were.
@graemegreen401911 жыл бұрын
I have the 4 CD box set. It's basically good quality demos of songs from the the first two Cd's, plus some other live material from the tours following the releases of Bellybutton and Spilt Milk. It was released by Not Lame (sadly since gone out of business). Some of the live material has since been released by Omnivore.

Lip syncing? So what who doesn't lip sync? These guys are as good as the dam Beatles I mean really, have you actually checked these guys out? ,Besides you know how hard it is to play Drums and SING??
@miked31687 жыл бұрын
British shows like Top of The Pops and so on seem to make you lip sync your songs.. I guess cause they dont want the problem of a band being total shit when they are playing live compared to their album... these guys could play their stuff live and make it sound great, but a lot of bands are crap live.
@thebiggestwave70476 жыл бұрын
These guys rendered flawless performance after flawless performance. Too the producers of this show didn't get the memo.

It was a show for children. I watched this go out when I was 9. None of us gave a shit. I doubt the band really gave a crap about playing live before 9am in the morning.

This band was so good but so short lived...insanely catchy songs, pleasant vocals, blissful harmonies, etc. Sadly they were a lil too left of center to catch on...faith no more/metallica/l.a stuff was real big at the time...then of course came that dreadful seattle garbage...and ALL those bands including nirvana were pure shit. So unfortunately jellyfish fell by the wayside...but they did knock out two damn fine cds.

On shows like this (Top of the Pops too, for example), the artists don't have a choice because the studio doesn't have the capability to do "live" performances. Check out their clips from Jools Holland before passing judgment.
