I have found when strip sewing that my strips would curve if I begin sewing at the same end for each addition. I started joining new strips in the opposite direction, ie adding the new strip starting at the bottom edge. By flipping the beginning sewing with each new strip addition, I have not had curve problems since.

Oh that is awesome advice, thank you!!! Because I’m definitely making another one, but I’m going to tweak it so it’s smaller 😂 thank you so much! 💖

That looks like a fun project! I may have to give that one a go. When I have issues getting through thick seams, I resort to my 1907 Singer 27 treadle. She's a beast and has never failed me, lol. That huge flywheel gives it real punch to the stitching power.

I read directions first also. Have you considered investing in the stripology rulers? I’ve thought many times to mention them before. I have the XL and love it. I use it a lot and no get great accuracy. Cutting is most definitely not my super power. lol Great job (and problem Solving) on the bag!

P.S. if you set a couple of large books underneath it will create space enough to act as a Free arm.

I recently found your channel and subscribed. Though at first I thought I would prefer to have the content edited down a bit more, I have to say I've watched several of your videos now and am appreciating all the tips and commentary. Love the cameo appearances by your furry friends, too. One of the things I really love is that I have the same Juki machine (purchased from Juki Junkies!!) I am finding it very helpful watching your techniques when you sew on it because I have not used it a whole lot yet. I also appreciate that you share working through problems. I enjoy problem solving and get great ideas from watching you. Thank you for pointing out that things don't have to be perfect. I tend not to start things when I don't know exactly how to do everything perfectly, but your enthusiasm is contagious and you are making me want to get up there and start sewing!

Thank you so much, April 💖 you just made my day! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the videos and aren’t going to let the “it must be perfect” cycle continue. I totally understand; that was me! But I found when I had that mindset it really stripped the joy out of the entire experience which was NOT my goal lol 👏🏻💖 thank you again for this wonderful comment!

Seriously we sewists think the oddest things are fun right? I mean, who else would think sewing 40 strips into tube's would be fun? I would and i like other odd sewing fun. I too have my sewing,area in my bedroom. I have one longer table, 3 bookcases, my sewing machine on a table. Nothing matches. Im finally going to have a small design wall not very huge but big enough for a throw, crib size, maybe twin size. Im taking another commenters advice and use a flannel backed table cloth as my design wall. Ok thanks Miriam. You are simply a great sewist, quilter and sweet person. And a fabulous TEACHER. Hugs n much love. Pssst. No music is fantastic. Oh an my Brother sewing machine has 150 stitches, many extras, I can use my foot pedal or a button on the front to start sewing. I like that since I have arthritis in my ankles and in my knees so if I don't need to use the foot pedal I can rest my legs. My machine was 229 dollars. I paid for it in installments on Amazon with no interest. I love this machine. My 3rd Brother. I just keep,upgrading. Lol ok now I'm gone Miriam. Hugs

Thankyou for this video Rebecca! I have seen their patterns but it was good to see you make it! When I started sewing again several years ago I bought a book Simply Modern Patchwork Bags by Janet Goddard. I loved the bag on the covering have since made 8 of them. It has a centre panel of flying geese. That was a new thing to me. I shudder to think now but I just went ahead and didn’t really understand the importance of squaring up to size. The best bit was I was then obsessed with patchwork. Now a few dozen quilts in it is still my doudou I think you call them comforters in US what you stick in a babies mouth? Will have to make that bag for my lovely friend in Florida much love from SW France

I also was playing around with my machine’s decorative stitches this weekend and broke 2 needles. 🙄. I was trying to be fancy with the binding I was sewing on. I’m just going to go back to a straight or a zig zag. Maybe I’ll find a chance to use the fun stitches for something else.

@StitchObsessed5 ай бұрын
Ikr?! This was so fun! So the “wrong side” of cotton batting will have little bumpies on it from where the needles punch through to create the batting. The “right side” is slightly softer. 💖

I assume you were not able to put the stays in? I saw you put in, and in answer to your question regarding being able to keep them in and close the bag: You should keep them in and be able to close the bag. the ends should fold over each other as you zip.
@StitchObsessed6 ай бұрын
Haha! Yes! I was confused about them but one of my friends reached out and showed me how to close it properly. I fixed it in this video about half way through if you want to see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZjQpGR3rMuijas
