When you sewed the quilted diagonal lines, did you back stitch each line? Or do you just not back stitch because you’ll be sewing around the edge later?
@StitchObsessed
@StitchObsessed 3 минут бұрын
Yes, if I'm going to be sewing over a seam later, I don't normally backstitch.

Totally agree that consistency is key. I look for my blocks to measure out accurately and square them up really well. I try my best not to lose points, but won't lose my mind if I do. I sew with love.

Exactly! As long as you're having fun and not super stressed out, then it's fine to strive for "perfection". Yes, we want out quilts to look great, but we don't want to lose the fun of it!

How do you wash a quilt so large in a machine. Unless you have bigger drums than we do.in the Uk. I have just done a 7x7 quilt myself however mine has gone to a long arm quilter.. well done helping daddy.

Thank you so much! My washing machine is quite large! Though, if the quilt is too big for my machine, I'll take it to the local laundromat and wash it in one of the large washing machines there!

I really enjoyed your story! So I'm gonna tell you a little about mine. For many years, counted cross stitch was my thing! I have many framed cross stitch pictures and a box full that I never framed! My Mother and my 2 grandmothers quilted but I was into cross stitch and I really didn't want to learn anything else! I know small mind! Lol! We moved to Colorado 6 years ago and there is a lady that lives down the road from me and she has a quilt shop. I had seen her so many times and thought about learning to quilt. So I went to her shop and she taught me to quilt. She was wonderful! And now I am a quilter! Lol! Now the rest of the story is i watched and enjoyed the video last night. I don't feel that I can talk and be videoed that way! Lol! I am old! Lol! But I really laughed when you were talking about southern accents. I was born and raised in Alabama all my life, until we moved to Colorado. So, yes, I have a sweet southern accent that you will love if I ever speak to you! I am laid back and easy going. Do we shall get along fine! Lol! I really appreciate you and what you do for us! You are a sweet person and I feel as if I know you! Please keep doing what you do because I really enjoy. Like I've told you before, I'm glad that I found you!!

There is a breat book called Walk by Jacquie Gering that has some great pointers on thee type of quilting you did initially. I've gotten some great ideas and inspiration from her book. Art is a process for sure!

Pretty cover. I love the patchwork. I made a patchwork cover one time and one of my fabrics bled onto the fabric I was ironing. I stick to one piece of fabric to make my covers now. Always with fabric that doesn't bleed. 😊

I really enjoyed this video about making your coasters. I wasn't sure I would like the last design you made but when I saw the finished product. I was amazed. All of the things you made with this machine are really, really nice!! I think you should make some of the coasters and magnets and add your logo, Stitched Obsessed, on them and sell them on your website. They are so cute! I don't think you would have selling them. Also I follow a lady named Kate Jackson at The Last Lonely House. She does all type of videos. She has 2 different video channels... The Last Lonely House and The Last Lonely Garden. On her garden channel she has videos of a pond and cabin she and her neighbor friend made. On the inside of the cabin, she designed quilt blocks and the neighbor man cut wood quilt pieces that Kate painted and the neighbor installed on the wall. It looks really nice and was really a creative way to add something unique to the cabin. You might want to check her out.

* The website for Kate Jackson is The Last Homely House and The Last Homely Garden, not The Last Lonely House and The Last Lonely Garden....sorry about the mistake. I don't think you would have trouble selling the things you make on the machine on your website.

Have you ever glue basted with polyester batting?
@StitchObsessed
@StitchObsessed 2 күн бұрын
I personally have not, but I have heard from people who have tried the glue basting with polyester and they said it worked! You just probably need to use a bit more glue since polyester is fluffier than cotton. But the same technique will work with polyester.

I'm planning to try glue basting within the week. Looks like it works great & basting spray coats everything; therefore, I avoid it. I'm planning to put two layers of batting in my quilt... an 80/20 cotton poly blend & a polyester. Have you tried double batting? Did you have good results? Can't wait to try this method, I think it should eliminate any pleating in the backing. Love your videos!
@StitchObsessed

Thank you so much for watching! I think I've done two layers of cotton batting before for a small project like a hot pad/pot holder. I don't see why it wouldn't work! Just make sure the glue is completely dry before you start quilting! Good luck!
