So sorry about the scratch but really glad to hear it plays well. I recently had a similar incident with one of my favorite albums as well.

That's always brutal when that happens. I'd recommend getting some rice paper sleeves. you can get some that are pretty cheap, and they can be placed inside the original sleeves that you have. That way the scratching isn't a problem. small investment but it really goes a long way, you can start with the records you really care about and go from there!

i was actually referring to the scratch at the end of the video which was caused by me! i have really nice inner sleeves, i was just a bit hasty getting the LP out.

About that Françoise Hardy spindle hole, it's super easy to fix without risk : just take a pair of scisors, put one end in the hole till it's suck, and twist a little with pressure, it will enlarge the hole evenly. I do run a pressing plant and 15K records, so I talk from experience ^^ And that's probably just a surface scuff on that record you think you damaged : between the grooves is what we call the land, a flatsection between each groove that acts like a sort of shield to the groove . The audio signal is in the middle of each sides of the groove, so it is somewhat protected.
@JemimaRose2 ай бұрын
wow, thank you so much for sharing your tips & knowledge!! i really appreciate all the insight you’ve given me. i’ll try the scissor trick. 😊

@@JemimaRose Pas de soucis. Sometimes, the solutions are just that easy. Let us know if you pull it off, maybe I'll do a video myself on the DIY tricks that I fthink are common sense, but, may not be for everyone ^^ Bonne soirée

If you like folk, folk/rock, folk/blues. Check out these two: Trees “In the garden of Jane Trelawny”, a female fronted uk band. And Davy Graham “Folk, Blues and beyond”. I think you’d like those two albums 👌

…and also, it’s none of your business!” Yep, I like the attitude, lol. 21:57 this would also be my reaction if I’d have done that to one of my coloured vinyls, lol….let’s change the subject quickly, “this is a picture disc of the Incredibles…” I’m a vinyl collector addict, but lean towards the heavy metal. I appreciate other music and the different pressings though (the Beatles for eg). You got a few nice looking vinyls there 😀

Nice collection, I've picked up a few vinyl over the past couple of years but I usually give them away as I collect cds. As far as bootlegs go, I kinda give unreleased music a pass.

1:49 Hi Jemima, enjoyed your wee video. I started buying vinyl again 5 or 6 years ago, think a have about 200 or so. I did have a collection from the mid 70s which i stupidly got rid of when CDs arrived, i could kick myself now for being so stupid. I noticed that some of your records are sleeved in MoFi Sound Lab record sleeves, did you buy them ? The reason im asking is because thats what i use. If i buy an album and the record is sleeved in paper, i replace it with one of the MoFi poly sleeves, they're much kinder on the records. As for your record that wont fit your turntable, is it just really tight, or wont it actually go over the spindle ? Only last week i bought a Type O Negative album and one of the records was really tight. I got it on but it was so tight getting it off i thought the record was going to snap. I eventually got it off. What i did was, i stuck a pen in the hole and pushed it in until it jammed, then pushed and turned it a dozen times or so which fractionally widened the hole and luckily it slotted down without any trouble, its worth a try.
@JemimaRoseАй бұрын
my mum also lost her vinyl collection over the years - we're both in mourning of it! 😭😂 yes, i bought my sleeves but i believe they're knock offs of the real thing... still very good quality though. i can force the record over the spindle but then, like you, i worry about breaking it in taking it off so i haven't tried beyond that first time. i will try your trick! thank you for your comment. 😊

May I ask what outer sleeves you use? They look crystal clear on the video. The outer sleeves I’ve purchased are kinda milky looking if that makes sense.

I’m interested to hear what you think of the first Tame Impala album, “Innerspeaker” when you purchase it …..do you own a record cleaner ? It’s invaluable as an album that may skip can be cleaned up ( even new albums should be cleaned before playing ) . As obsessive as you are about your records , a cleaner is essential
@JemimaRose2 ай бұрын
i’ve listened to innerspeaker a decent amount digitally. i like it but it’s not really on my heavy rotation! feelings are it might be better on vinyl. i do own (& use!) a record cleaner… i was gifted a set a couple years ago.
@albasoes20Ай бұрын
stick a pen through the hole of your record to expand it. I have done it several times and it doesn´t harm your vinyl atleast not for me. I will recommend trying it.
