Cutting out sugar from your diet is SO important! I went sugar free for 2 months and it's amazing how much of a difference it made to my life! Not only did I lose weight, but my skin also looked incredible and I found I was craving food less. IT IS LIFE CHANGING! Good luck girl! I hope you find the same results.

zxc I completely understand how you are feeling! Trust me, it is really hard for the first week but once you get over the first week, you’ll find that you crave sugar less. I followed the Keto Diet so I also eliminated carbs from my diet (which you would be surprised contain lots of sugar) and upped my fat intake. I am really bad at tracking what I eat so I would just have a mental note in my mind to have less than 20 grams of carbs per day and as little sugar as possible! I’m a huge snacker so I keep Quest bars on me at all times in my bag. They have lots of fun flavours like birthday cake and cookies and cream :) If you really want something sugary, have a diet soda instead (but only as a treat :)).

zxc OH and one thing I forgot to mention is STOP DRINKING MILK and switch to cream instead. What a lot of people don’t realize is that milk is very high in carbs and also has sugar in it! When I first started on the Keto diet I was still drinking milk and not understanding why I wasn’t losing any weight! One carton of milk alone contains 11 grams of sugar and 12 grams of carbs where as a carton of cream contains 1 gram of sugar and 1 gram of carbs.

Kas Kahea Good question! I found once I cut back on sugar I just started to crave it less. I know this isn’t chocolate, but there’s a really good healthy peanut butter called Fatso (their salted caramel flavour is TO DIE FOR) so any time I am feeling bad I will dip apples in it. Peanut butter is filling because it’s high in fat and if you find the right one, can be low in sugar! That always seems to hit the spot for me when I want something sugary like chocolate.

My quick tip for not wasting food: Fruit - when you see it’s starting to look kinda sad lol throw it in a pot with some lemon juice and a bit of really good honey, let it simmer until you have a compote! Put it on some gluten free healthy pancakes and no need for syrup 🥞 Veggies: Cut them up toss them with some olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary whatever u like and roast them in the oven! Makes an awesome meal with sweet potatoes, or a great side dish. Hope that gives you some inspo! Sending you love ❤️❤️

I freeze EVERYTHING in zip lock bags when it’s on the turn to almost going bad. Then you have the freedom to do what you like with the veggies... add to any casseroles, stews, scrambled eggs, omelettes, soups, boil them or sautée to accompany pretty much any meat/main dish or blitz up in a blender for a pasta sauce. Fruits you’re a little more limited with but you can add to a blender to make a smoothie, top oatmeal with them or create a sorbet/fruity topper with granola on Greek yoghurt. Freezing preserves the nutrients and gives you an emergency stash of goodness if you’re running low on groceries or going out of town etc and can’t use up what you have.

Some things that work for me: - Delete delivery apps, if you don’t have them on your phone you cant use them. - Cooking healthy meals gets me excited about my health and makes me appreciate it and invest more in it. - Allow yourself to have something unhealthy every once in a while, for example don’t avoid going out to dinner with friends because you don’t want to eat something that is not that healthy, balance is key. - Don’t buy that much groceries at once, buy the right amount for the week, that way you’ll waste way less. - Start small bc every form of progress counts, sugar and processed foods are soooo addictive and giving them up is very hard but after a while of not having them and constantly thinking about them your body kinda stops asking for them. Love this new segment!!!Best of luck jen 💕💕💕

Diet is something that I'd say is overall in good shape, obviously there are areas to improve upon but my main goal is to cut out substances (ab)use. The last two years have been one long journey of using drugs/alcohol to add fullness and excitement to my days. I'd drink when I knew it wouldn't really give me any satisfaction and that's when it becomes a problem, when you drink/do drugs just because you're that bored. So my main health goal is to stop spending money on alcohol/weed (need to save money anyways) and instead try to use exercise as a way to get me excited and energized about the day ahead. It's free to move your body and I don't have to worry about any adverse effects physically or mentally, which I really can't afford anyways. Love your channel and thank you for this new series!! You are a motivation to me to want to do better for myself and live a fulfilling life.

Hey Jen! Wow I loved this episode of your new series. I can relate so much to the dessert every night habit . Three years ago I felt addicted to sugar and relied on it to function. Over the last three years I have been training myself to enjoy healthy foods and cut my bad habits. Today I have a passion for health and wellness and actually enjoy the taste of earths natural gifts. One tip I would recommend to avoid wasting food, is to freeze anything right before it goes bad because that will extend the life of the item.

As some one who enjoys eating healthy & making at home meals I recommend buying less when you grocery shop for any cold items so you kinda force yourself to eat what you have before it goes bad. You’ll start going to the grocery store like twice a week but you’ll be wasting less food. Good lucky on the health journey!!

Best tip on saving produce: as soon as you get home from the store, soak the fruit and vegetables in a ACV water solution for 5-10 min, rinse and store in a breathable container or bowl with no lid! Same with greens - the acv water solution makes everything nice and crunchy, keeps produce fresh for longer, washes off residue of any kind of chemical dirt or contaminate. The hemp cloth reusable produce bags are bomb!

How to not waste food: grocery shop weekly... and only buy what you need for the week. For example, I buy one or two fruits to last me the whole week (aka 5 apples and a bag of grapes), that way they're gone and I have to get more, instead of having too much (I always keep frozen fruit for smoothies though). I always keep healthy TJ's meals in the freezer for emergency days so I don't Postmate.

About fruits and veggies, my personal tip would be, dont buy a lot, and dont buy many different kinds. Max fruits i would get is 3x kinds (example: bananas 🍌 manadarins 🍊 grapes 🍇) easy to grab and eat whole. If you buy many different kinds you wont eat it. I resist buying strawberries 🍓 and raspberries etc, i eat a little of it forget it in the fridge, and it always goes bad 🤨. Also toss the fruit in the blender and make smoothies out of fruit before it goes bad! Thanks for being honest and showing the real you, love your channel! 🙏

okay soooo i'm obsessed with you and i'm sooo excited for this series I already fill my fridge and pantry with healthier alternatives I've been doing that for 2 years now and it was hard in the beginning but I do treat myself on the weekends. I do this thing where I don't give myself as much options for snacks and as I'm running low on snacks I have no choice but to reach for fruits in-between and they don't end up going bad! It doesn't feel like i'm depriving myself because I know I will feel better by making better choices, soon you won't even crave all the sweets! Good luck Jen!

My number one tip for not wasting food is shopping as you go. It's also just me and my husband and we were wasting SO much food in an attempt to be healthy. It's definitely taxing to grocery shop so often especially in Canada during winter but I feel like with farmers markets and whatnot it's so much easier to go like three times a week. Makes you much more conscious of what you're eating and after a while you can shop less frequently because you get a feel for what you love and what you'll actually eat regularly.

My husband and I have a trick to use up stray produce before it goes bad...we have a fridge clean out date night! We make a platter of whatever sliced veggies, last bits of hummus/cheese/deli meats, toasted pita and bread stragglers. Sometimes olives, pickles, and artichoke hearts from the pantry. If we need more dipping stuff, I mix onion soup mix or ranch seasoning with nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Kind of just a big pile of munchies! Then we dig in on the couch while we watch Netflix. It’s the most efficient, low cost, and perfectly lazy date night!

my biggest tip for not wasting fruit/veg is to not go crazy and buy a lot of it at once. that’s something i did a lot for a while, got on a healthy kick and bought all the perishable food that sounded good at once. but you’ll never eat it fast enough, especially if healthy eating is new or hard. buying enough for 2-3 days means you’ll go to the store more often but you’ll waste less

Thanks só much! Needed that! Lóved that you're só honest about it. Sunday's for me, are for meal prepping. So I make bananabread etc and put portions (on the go) in the freezer. Or I make soup for a week and make batches to put in the freezer. Soup is very healthy, it fills you up and prevents (me anyway) from snacking! These preperations are much cheeper than all the things you buy and also, you know what's inside. Also, I only buy for 2 or 3 days of groceries. This stops me from having to throw things away. Lóve that your theme is "health" and nót dieting! I'm with you!! Lóve from Holland! 😘

I love making thick shakes with one cup of almond milk, sliced frozen bananas, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter. Taste so good! Got recipe from k Klossy. I omit the cocoa because I have an addiction to chocolate, but if you add a little bit of it, taste like chocolate shake. If you make your own almond milk, it’s even healthier with less additives 😉

This was super entertaining! I think you'll do well. I do have some strategies for keeping fresh food from going bad, since I eat a TON of veg and learned the hard way. -buy stuff that keeps for longer. Cabbage is the MVP, and while no one gets excited about eating it, it's actually super useful and tasty if you cook. If not, maybe pass. Cauliflower, onions, sweet potatoes and winter squash, pomegranates, root veggies like radish, green beans and sugar snap peas, carrots, celery, apples (in that order). -Do smaller shopping trips, more often. It's kinda inconvenient, but that's just how fresh food works. Meal planning really helps cut down food waste as well. -freeze it. When it starts to go... not bad exactly, just deflated and you know you won't get to it in time, freeze it. Or freeze it immediately upon purchase, like if you get a good deal and buy in bulk. Grapes and berries especially are nice to eat frozen like mini popsicles, and overripe bananas are especially nice frozen. Just make sure to cut it into little chunks first. Or buy frozen in the first place. Kale and other frozen veg works fine in soup. -alternatively, if it's about to go bad bake it or put it in soup. Basically any fruit, just sprinkle cinnamon on it and bake it, eat it with granola and yogurt, A+. Any veg, put it in a frittata or roast it in rosemary, salt, olive oil and vinegar. Edited to add: I forgot the most important part of all-- visibility! Veg you intend to snack on should go right at eye level, in the front. Or on the counter, if it's ok left out. Veg you intend to cook with should also be highly visible. I know the crisper is intended for veg, but for me if it's hidden away in a drawer it just rots. I use the crisper for stuff that lasts a long time. Oh, I forgot to mention the towel method of keeping lettuce and leafy greens fresh, it's easiest just to look it up on KZbin.

Here's my fav ice cream: frozen bananas. Slice and freeze a bunch of bananas on a sheet pan. Once they're frozen you can bag them up in a ziplock. When you're craving ice cream, whiz them up in a food processor or blender and add a tiny touch of vanilla. That's it! It's like Dairy Queen softy ice cream with no added anything bad. It's really good! Good luck, Jen!

A good way to not waste fruits is to 1) Not compulsive shop, be realistic with what you buy and ask your self if your really gonna eat them this week. Also consider if your going on a trip and if the fruit is gonna last you long enough for when you return if not don’t buy them. 2) when you get home from shopping wash them and put them in little tupper containers to have around to snack on or to include in your meals, you can just grab one when your on your way out of if you want to use it for whatever it’s ready to go. 3) If your fruits are getting a bit old but still not moldy just put them in freezer bags or tuppers and freeze them and use them for smoothies ☺️

Aspiration vs intention (also me!) The healthy foods aren’t a big part of your diet/ no time to prepare A lot of take out food untouched - part of bigger orders? A lot of sweet/junk snacks probably lessens desire for healthier food (I relate!) Impulse buys - nice in the store/ market but in reality you don’t eat it It’s a lifestyle - have an idea of what you’re going to make to help inform what you will actually use Ask yourself what you ate instead of the food you bought and left Finally: buying too much and/or busy/ eat out? Impressed with what you’ve cut out over a year. Makes sense to do it gradually and focus on other things this year.

Most relatable video ever. Going through your fridge and tossing the spoiled food, dang that resonated with me to the core. That happens to my strawberries ever single time. Also, okay, Watchamacallits are literally the best candy bar ever. I can always find them at Rite Aid or CVS. The sweet tooth in me salutes and applauds you.

Tips for not wasting food: Put the food you need to eat in a place where it will be visible. Often, fruit and veggies don't need to be refrigerated (tomatoes, for instance, should *not* be refrigerated) and putting them out on your counter can look really nice and reminds you to eat them. Simply don't buy snack food when you're grocery shopping for the week. If it's in your house, you'll eat it instead of eating fruit and veg. I only buy snack foods as a treat for when I'm hanging out with a friend or something like that, and I never stock up on them. If I want a "snack," I'll usually just have a small portion of leftovers or some toast or fruit or something like that. Get over the idea that you can't eat the same thing for multiple meals in a row, or find ways to make leftovers more tempting with different condiments, sides, or toppings. A lot of leftovers can also be frozen! Just make sure that you don't shove frozen leftovers into the back of your freezer and then forget about them. I know some people like to keep a list on the outside of the freezer to make sure they don't forget about anything. You can pretty easily find guides to what foods can be frozen and reheated on youtube (bread does super well frozen and then toasted, for example, and basically any kind of food that would be in a store-bought frozen dinner is something you can freeze).

When it comes to fresh food - always only buy what you need and nothing more! I usually buy what I know I’ll eat in the week and make sure I use all of it.

TIP - Always store your tomatoes on the counter. The fridge zaps the flavor and makes them mealy. TIP - Wash your produce as soon as you get home from the store. You’re more likely to grab a grape, strawberry, carrot, etc. for a snack if it’s washed and ready to go. Pro Tip - Buy the dry ranch dressing packet and mix it with Greek yogurt

Tip for the tomatoes: We grow a ton of tomatoes & cucumbers in our garden in the summer, and we simply have too much. We make homemade bruschetta and add in a ton of garlic, red onion, fresh herbs, olive oil, lemon, & sea salt. It's great because it's so multi-purpose: use salad topper or mixed with cucumber & feta, a base for a pasta sauce or soup. Also, frozen grapes are basically sour skittles.

Tip for no food waste is to plan your meals according to what you’re doing that week. Plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. Write it all done. I started doing that and I have zero food waste (: also I go grocery shopping once a week or week in a half and I clean my fridge out every single time I bring new food in.

Proud of you your trying to eat healthier. It is def alot to learn. One thing to note...get in a habit of reading the ingredient labels and nutritional info. on all the processed things you buy. Might be in the healthy section of the store but sugar is sugar and turns to fat, spikes your blood sugar and is unhealthy. Try to buy things with not too many grams of sugar in them, resist the urge to buy snacks at all and think of healthier ones to make instead. Also if your don't want your produce to go bad, make a list of things your wanna make first, then the grocery list and meal prep and cut up things as soon as you get home. Just get it over with. All the best as you work toward healthy eating! I cleaned up my diet 6 years ago now., learnt alot and have never felt better! For me a low carb (not keto) diet is now my lifestyle and am happy with this way of eating. :)

Queen - that whole process looked rough. Thanks for sharing that - I have to fight my demons now. 😂 One tip I have is to wash all your fruits and veggies as soon as you get home from the market. It has helped me be mindful that I have fruits and veggies that I need to eat, as well as knowing that the extra step of washing them is already done.

The best way to keep food fresh in your fridge is to use “Good grips greensaver produce keeper” by OXO. They are the best containers for fruits/veggies- they last way longer.

If you find it hard to eat a lot of fresh fruit that only ends up in the bin buy frozen fruit (not canned) it is full of sugar at least with froxen fruit there is no waste. You can use it it smoothies and with the likes of oats for breakfast. Hope this helps Jen.

You should also try to reduce your use of packaged goods. You can buy snacks with your glass containers at a bulk food store.

As a Health Coach I LOOOOVE this video♥️ huge kudos since you gave up diet cola & continue to change your eating habits! there’s so many soda alternatives! My fav is Olipop (sparkling tonic) it supports your digestive health with prebiotics, 2g of sugar, 30 cal a can which is 12 oz ! I discovered it at Nugget but I’ve seen it at Whole Foods too ! Bai sparkling drinks are a great swap out for sodas too ! much love have a blessed day 💕

Jen, a good trip to not waste food is to cook with what you have instead of what you want. Think before you Postmates, it will probably take an hour anyway so do yourself the favor and FIND something to cook! I promise you’ll be impressed with what you can come up with.

I feel the trick to not wasting food is to meal prep when you bring home the groceries. So wash the fruits put them in a glass container and into the fridge. Do the same with the veggies wash them and then you can make a salad or roast them in the oven. Put them into containers for the week. 🤗
