What they didn't realize is that Leslie himself is quite a hoot. * That show was called "The Bold Ones: The Protectors" but it only lasted one season. Amazingly, "Police Squad" lasted even less, with only six episodes aired! A couple more in this genre: I know you watched "Airplane", but there is "Airplane 2". There is "Loaded Weapon 1", a spoof of "Lethal Weapon". Also "Hot Shots" and "Hot Shots, Part Deux", spoofs of "Top Gun". You'll also love "Top Secret", which spoofs spy movies...."Spy Hard" (also with Leslie Nielsen) does too. And while I'm here, I know you love a good heist, so you might want to check out "Sneakers".

The problem with Airplane 2 is that the geniuses behind Airplane (Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker) were not involved. Airplane 2 was a simple cash grab by the studio to exploit the success of Airplane. I remember leaving the theater very disappointed.

You should watch a move titled "White Heat" with James Cagney released in 1949. I think Naked Gun 3 takes a few plot ideas from that movie. Sending an undercover officer into prison to buddy up with a convict and break him out and a mother & son criminal team ( minus the henchman ) you should react to that movie and see the similarites. James Cagney is great in that movie portraying a complete criminal pyschopath.

The "Take a number" woman at 6:48 is the Zucker brothers' mother. She has been in pretty much every movie they've ever made. She was even in the more serious "Ghost" movie that was directed by one of the Zucker brothers as the woman at the bank that Whoopi Goldberg has to talk to to withdraw the 4 million dollars. In "Airplane!" she was the woman who was trying to apply makeup throughout the movie (unsuccessfully). I think she was even in "Kentucky Fried Movie", which was their first.

30:04 Mark! 19K Views + Mine! 😎 2K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊 Notes: This movie has so many of my favorite female celebrities in it, including Mary Lou Retton, Vanna White, Raquel Welch, and.... Anna Nicole Smith as Tanya Peters, Rocco's girlfriend and a nurse at a fertility clinic. So, it isn't Julie Strain! That would've been a very convincing perfume had it been! 😁 Back in the day, the awards tended to ignore the most popular movies in favor of the more obscure movies, for "Best Picture" unlike nowadays since the category was expanded. 😁 Liam is in the funny Western that is better appreciated if you have seen at least the third "Back to the Future" and "Django Unchained"! 😅😉 Liam has guest starred in "The Orville"! 😂 Leslie? My favorite dramatic role of is as as a starship captain that gets the blonde in "Forbidden Planet"! He's another starship captain in a comedy role and he gets the brunette! "Spaceballs" doesn't reference "Dark Star" but Leslie's movie parodies it. 😅

The business with OJ saving the baby and then trying to spike it was actually a very old joke at the time this movie came out. As I first heard it, the situation was a burning building and a woman with a baby at an upper floor window. OJ (and it really was OJ in the version I heard) happens to walk by and seeing the situation tells the woman to throw the baby down and he'd catch it. The woman then throws the baby in a perfect spiral 50 yards away from the building. OJ takes off running, leaping over obstacles and avoiding other people in the way and dives to catch the baby, carefully cradling it in his arms without letting it hit the ground. The bystanders all run over to congratulate him, saying it's the greatest catch they've ever seen, and OJ gets excited and spikes the baby - in telling the joke at that point you don't actually tell it, you just pantomime OJ's reaction.

I still think part 1 is my overall favorite but this one is a close second! So a couple Naked Gun Running jokes: The door with Police Squad is always misspelled/backwards/etc. Or there is something going on behind it. Opening scene to this one is a spoof of The Untouchables train station scene. The character Papsmear was in the 1st movie as well. Fun fact also, producers Bob Weiss and David Zucker have had a cameo in all 3 movies as well as Weird Al. If you can find it, these movies are based off a single season tv show from 1982 called Police Squad. I think its only 6 episodes and Leslie Nielsen is the only one from the series that made it to the movies (same producers and directors). Wow that was a long comment lol

The scene with babies based on the 1987 Untouchables, dramatic ending scene of the Kevin Costner Sean Connery movie. ( Of course, they've added a whole bunch of craziness)

You should really watch _Police Squad!_ It's the inspiration for the mivies and I really think it's better. Unfortunately, the network canceled it before it even aired because it required people to pay attention, leaving only six, half-hour episodes. You could probably cover the entire series in one video, though you might want to split the series in half to get more content out of it.

8:24 I want to set the record straight on a common misconception. This is not actually the late Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith. It's the late Penthouse Pet Julie Strain.

I think I saw Liam Nissan do a bit of DARK Comedy in the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. A Netflix show that had a series of short stories from the Old American West. It is laced with dark comedy, and death. Liam played a man that owned a young actor. The young actor, actually more of an orator was also a paraplegic. Liam would cart this little guy all over mining towns throughout the west and collect tips for his verbal. They kind of survived off that, but not for very long. The guy that played the paraplegic was also in The Queen’s Gambit, also on Netflix. He was the first decent ranked chess player that the female heroine defeated on her way to the top. He is not really a paraplegic, just like Arizona from Grey’s Anatomy was not actually missing a leg. It is truly amazing what they can do with special affects these day. From what I saw, Liam is pretty good at humor, especially if playing a drunk is involved. He does not need A Special Set of Skills to do comedy. First time I heard about the upcoming Naked Gun movie, looking forward to it.

"Loved you in Coneheads, you too"... "Never saw it". Actually a pretty good film, in my opinion (some people hate it others love it, takes a certain sense of humor)... low key Sci-fi comedy with a positive message on Immigration and social acceptance... "FRANCE, we are from FRANCE". Its another one of those extremely rare reaction movies no one ever does. Its weird seeing the references in NG 33 1/3, since it makes me realize it was alot latter than i remember in terms of when it came out.

"I've never seen Liam Neeson do comedy" I suggest Darkman then. Not exactly "comedy", but it is Sam Raimi.
