Since I'm pretty sure you're solid and can handle "The Metal", I'll go ahead and recommend "Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny". It's utterly ridiculous and a Rockin' good time. 0:29 Well, I think that settles it then. The Lady loves "The D" and the Lady should receive "The D" in all its Power and Glory!!!🤔 🤘 😛🤘

'Nachos Libre' (2006) is very amusing and touching. J.B. plays a Mexican Catholic friar and secret lucha libre fan who moonlights as a luchador (masked wrestler) to earn money for the orphanage where he works.

For early Jack Black I would recommend The Cable Guy. That was the first movie I remember seeing him in, and he stood out to me. Which is pretty hard to do when it’s a Jim Carrey movie.

They had a School of rock reunion with the cast members about 10 years ago. Because of this reunion, 2 of the kids who hadn't seen each other in years, started dating and are now engaged. Throughout the movie when you see the kids laughing at Jack Black, that's their genuine laugh. The behind the scenes said he used to make the kids laugh hysterically and they would use those shots in the movies. The drummer, unfortunately was killed riding his bike in Chicago by a hit and run driver around 3 years ago..

One subtle part that i love about this movie is the song they play was written by Zack about meeting Dewey and what it meant for him. But also, he's the one saying "I may not be the perfect son, but you'll be rocking when I'm done". And as he starts his solo, that's when his father, who's been criticizing him all movie, really gets into it.

The line when she says "I used to be funny" seems like a homage to 'Say Anything...' where she says the same (almost) to John Cusack about her responsibility as a parent. And Mike White (I think) was also an uncredited writer on 'Grosse Point Blank' and 'High Fidelity'. Could be a subtle call back or I could just be clutching at straws!😂 Either way Jen, if you're reading, 3 excellent films which haven't had the reactions they deserve.😉

Andrew Lloyd Webber turned this movie into a Broadway musical, which I was fortunate enough to see. Before the curtain, there was a pre-recorded announcement played from Sir Andrew himself, saying something along the lines of "Everyone always asks if the children on stage are playing their own instruments. They most definitely ARE." Which was so great to hear, because you were assured the kids on stage were making music together in real time. SO talented, and such a fun theater experience.
@zestd3722Ай бұрын
I was in a regional theatre production of it this summer. Fantastic show, super fun. But per the licensing agreement, the kiddos must play live and be under 14. We had some very talented kiddos rocking out.
@killianlpcАй бұрын
Jack Black hams it up mercilessly in a role that was absolutely made for him. Right from the very start when he tries to jump into the non- existent mosh pit you know this is going to be great. Being a musician myself, and having been around guys like this even makes it more fun. Some great bits in this film especially when he can't spell his name on the blackboard, and he says to the kids about Led Zepplin 'don't tell me you guys never got the Led out'. Sarah Silverman is great as the the nagging girlfriend, and real satisfying ending. Just a great fun film.

This movie never gets old and it's a nice go-to movie when you want to watch something that makes you feel good. One of the things I've always liked about it is that Dewey never second-guesses any of the kids and lets them express themselves in the way they want. When Fancy Pants wants to be the stylist, boom. Done. When Turkey Sub wants to sing and she demonstrates she knows how, boom. Done. And on top of that, he's always building them up with they have self-doubt for whatever reason. Really the only thing he pushes back on are those first few band names, and... rightly so, lmao. Otherwise, he pretty much rolls with everything and helps guide them without being overbearing. Then, when it's finally game time, he puts his money where his mouth is and plays Zach's song and wears his uniform like a champ.

The actor who plays the lead singer of Ned’s old band is actually professional musician and singer, Adam Pascal, who was in the OG/original cast of RENT, and is also in the RENT movie. I havent seen this in the other comments (nearly 400 by now), there are real schools of rock all over the country that really do this, teaching young kids rock and roll and putting on concerts. I caught one by accident at a hard rock cafe in chicago. they had two groups, under 10, and 10 +, i think, and they were so good. it was a nice surprise extra for my dinner that night.

"Put on Odelay!" I was right there with you on that one, and wasn't much older than the kids in the movie when that album came out. Coincidently, 1996 was also the first time I encountered Tenacious D, who make a brief appearance in the movie "Bio-Dome".

As someone who's also passionate about music (especially rock), this is one of the most heartwarming comfort movies for me. Jack Black didn't even have to act much because you know he's just genuinely that passionate about the music too. The way his character boosts their confidence and helps them hone in on their strengths gets me emotional by the time they play the battle of the bands!

Im so happy you reacted to this!! im 34 now but was 13 when this movie came out, and at the time I had already been dabbling in playing drums for a handful of years cause my older brother played and had a kit and would show me some basic stuff. But it was more just messing around. But when I saw this movie in theatres it totally changed my entire mindset and playing the drums instantly went from something id just mess around with to something I was passionate about and obsessed with to this day.
