Difficult. I think it's still 50 First Dates for me. I've been a massive Drew Barrymore fan for over 20 years now. 😅 Big Daddy is also really good. Also Happy Gilmore, Little Nicky and of course this one. Only thing, Sandler had a TERRIBLE German VA for this movie. He did a passable job, it just didn't fit at all....

I can confirm as someone who played Football in high school not that long ago that this movie and longest yard are quoted all the time on the field. That Wrestlers name is (The Big Show) from the WWE, his real name is Paul White. He is 7 feet tall and 500lbs. He no longer wrestles or works for WWE, he is now working for another wrestling company. At the time of this (Waterboy) Movie in 1997, The Big Show aka Paul White was working for WWE's then competition WCW/World Championship Wrestling, as (The Giant) when he got this role in Waterboy.

Yea I think the friendship between the guy in the beginning and Bobby could have been explored more. Especially, the scene, where his transcript was forged. Also the scene where the town was outside the hospital. Could have been him that came forward to give a speech about sticking by one another when times are tough. It's quite interesting to see that the town actually believed that Bobby would be smart enough to forge his own transcript in the first place. It was nice to see Vicky stick by him through thick and thin. Her character seemed very selfless, willing to sacrifice her freedom for his. May not have been the best way of going about some situations, but exemplary.

I remember going to see this in the theatre on opening weekend with a friend while we were high school. The theatre was so packed that we ended up having to sit in the floor. (We weren’t the only ones - probably about another dozen people did the same. Seems like a fire code violation in retrospect. 🤣) It definitely felt a little gross. 😂 But honestly, we had so much fun that it was worth it. It’s an absolutely hilarious movie. Kathy Bates as Mama is chef’s kiss! 😚 Also, back in the day, my parents were the first people I knew of to buy a DVD player, and The Waterboy was the DVD they got that day to go with the player. (If I remember correctly, they paid $800 or $900 for that Sony DVD player. 🤯) They invited their friends over for dinner one evening and watched this afterward, and the husband could understand and “translated” everything Farmer Fran said. LOL.

The first guy who befriended him was shown throughout the movie though. He was with Bobby in the class when he tackled the professor. He’s also the kicker of the team when the coach was telling him to visualize something and attack. I’m not sure if he was the same guy who tackled the opposing team to get a loose ball so Bobby can intercept it. He was also the one who was reminiscing about Bobby in the locker room. LOL! So yeah he’s been shown a lot in the movie…I guess you guys didn’t notice him that much..😂
