SAS stands for Special Air Service; it's the British special forces. Many of them went on to become spys (like the CIA recruiting Navy Seals). There's thread around that this is what became of James Bond. After having seen at least one of the original Bond movies, it's an interesting thought!
@davidburke21322 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify the SAS is just a part of the British special forces. There are other specialist regiments in addition, such as the SBS (the Special Boat Service, which is part of the Royal Navy in a similar way as the SAS is an army regiment), the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, etc.
@Patriiiiick2 жыл бұрын
Also, fun fact, Christopher Lee was a member of the precursor to the SAS.
@davidburke21322 жыл бұрын
@@Patriiiiick I think he was a member of the Special Operations Executive, which ran in parallel to the SAS during WWII (the two organisations certainly existed in parallel at the same time during the war). Whilst they both carried out clandestine missions behind enemy line the SAS was, and still is, much more conventional in its military structure and recruitment, the SOE were considered “irregulars”.
@dirkbsilver92602 жыл бұрын
They are also sometimes euphemistically called Sports and Socials.
@jonrivers77792 жыл бұрын
There isnt that many sas who become spies. They tend to be recruited from different backgrounds. The theory about Mason being Bond cant be true unfortunately as it leaves out some key issues. Bond reached the level of Commander in the Royal Navy and was 42 before leaving and entering MI6. He would have had to complete SAS training in between. I think I'm right that no one of that age has completed training and no one already at the rank of commander has joined the sas because it is one of the few regiments where you dont maintain rank. With Bond having a greater affinity with Naval warfare he more likely would have joined SBS as well. Given all the inconsistencies, by the time he would have been caught he would have to be in his late 60s already. It would have been at a time when Thatcher and Reagan were in power and all actions against each other were dropped because of the so called "special relationship"

As the movie began, the music was maddeningly familiar. My suspicions were correct, in a way. This was scored by Hans Zimmer and he was responsible for helping Klaus Badelt relocate in '98. Others have already clarified what the SAS is, as the most noted and renowned part of the British special forces. They are one of the most capable and respected special forces regiments in the world. They were a well kept secret until 1980 (by which point they’d already been in existence for nearly 40 years) when they carried out the counter-terrorism mission to retake the Iranian embassy in London and rescue hostages after it had been taken over by terrorists. Their mission was basically carried out in front of the world’s journalists and tv cameras and brought them to world-wide attention. There’s a really great movie about that mission and the events around it that was released in 2017 called “6 Days”. You should watch it and react to it 😃

No films as such, I was in 'The Theory of Flight' with Helena Bonham-Carter but due to running time they got rid of that part of my story arc so, my scenes got cut along with some other actors, but I've recently been asked by a director for my showreel so, I'll keep you updated on that. Other work that I have done are some UK TV series, one called 'Charters and Cauldicott' which I was in an episode of, it was based off two characters which featured in the Agatha Christie story 'The Lady Vanishes', the series was short-lived and hasn't been on DVD as yet, another was a play 'Tell the Truth' which I did for TVS in Southampton back in the mid to late '80s, unfortunately, there was a dispute regarding who the writer was so after the initial airing it's never been shown as it's in a long drawn out legal battle, the last TV thing I did before the Cancer etc was for a series called 'Harry' in the mid '90s, about a reporter based in the North-East of England, I was in two episodes of that, one playing a lorry driver and another playing a Police officer, sadly that series too wasn't very popular so, again hasn't made it onto DVD etc. Yes, it was sad news indeed about Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, she served her country well for 70 years, starting at a young age following the death of her Father, she wasn't supposed to be Queen but due to the abdication of her Uncle to marry Mrs Simpson the task of Monarch fell on her shoulders, she served in World War II as a military driver and machanic, she died at the age of 96, she was never the same after the death of Prince Philip, I think that weighed heavily upon her.

There really was a successful escape from Alcatraz. The two prisoners managed to construct a raft out of raincoats and rubber cement. Whether they actually made it to San Francisco or sank halfway is still up for debate.

Great stuff, as usual. Fun movie. Nick Cage is always entertaining. Very excited about you watching "The Game" - mind blowing!

I watched this movie so many times in the 11th grade, had to do a character profile of someone from a movie for an English class assessment, so I did mine on John Mason.
