***UPDATE: This video has now been completely demonetized for having "inappropriate content". If any of you guys can go watch a couple of my older videos to help out the channel that would be great. Such a huge bummer when my videos keep getting targeted (even with censoring) while other channels can post all kinds of stuff. I really dont get it. :(

I believe it's on point as well since the scenes that were shot for the opening of Austinpussy was very reminiscent of scenes shot for Mission Impossible 2. So casting Tom Cruise as Austin Powers was probably a great cameo.

As far as Michael Caine. He played a spy (who wore eyeglasses) in the 60's named Harry Palmer. One inspiration for Austin Powers. But he also starred in a 60's heist movie called The Italian Job which featured Mini Coopers as getaway cars...hence, the Mini that Nigel Powers drives in Goldmember.

31:32 Yes, the shots of a young Michael Caine are from the 1967 movie HURRY SUNDOWN. Most of the rest of the shots in the flashback were new footage designed to match the lighting and film stock used in HURRY SUNDOWN so it would blend seamlessly.

While the first movie is my favorite(then 2 & 3), this one has some of the best moments off all the films, as the opening scene was worth the price of admission alone. As that was a scene we all would have loved to have seen more of, as the A list cast was so cool in their roles. Another highlight for me was the Asian twin sisters gag, as that had me LOL when I first saw it. Beyoncé did a quality job, and while not as good as Elizabeth & Heather, she was better than I thought she would have been, so overall a quality ending to the series.

There's a few other references here you may want to check out. The use of the Mini (and many of the nods to the 60s) throughout the whole series came from The Italian Job (1969) and Michael Caine's other movies in the 1960s like Alfie (1966) and the Harry Palmer series. Then many of the 70s references, especially Beyoncé's character owes a lot to Pam Grier's movies like Foxy Brown and Coffy, but especially Tamara Jones' big-haired super agent Cleopatra Jones movies (that genre had influenced, and been influenced by Live & Let Die in the first place). Everything spirals around in the end, lots of movies referencing each other.

The Dr. Evil scene where he's in jail and is interviewed borrows not just from "Silence of the Lambs," but I think also from the "X-Men" (2000) as his prison outfit seems modeled after that. As for Michael Caine, he's one of the '60s spy movie actors that Austin is based on. He starred in the Harry Palmer films: The Ipcress File (1965), Funeral in Berlin (1966), and Billion Dollar Brain (1967).

"Can't believe all these people were in it. They must all been fans." Austin Power movies were EXTREMELY popular when they came out. People would quote it all the time. There would be references to it in movies and TV shows. It was a cultural phenomena. I always thought it was strange that within five years after this one, it kind of disappear and felt like it was ancient history. People didn't reference it anymore. It didn't have the legs that say Dumb and Dumber had. I guess fires that burn bright, use up their fuel faster.

It could've had something to do with Mike Myers sort of falling out of favour with audiences shortly after wrapping up the trilogy. People seemed to have gotten tired of his shtick, and every film he appeared in for the rest of the 2000s (aside from Inglourious Basterds and the Shrek films) was a critical and financial flop. There's probably several other reasons, but that's possibly the main reason why it didn't retain that kind of enduring popularity it had back in its heyday
