The paper is Very Important. Some papers will not allow the paint to flow as it just absorbs the paint soaking it all up not allowing it to move. Always invest in good quality paper and you will fall in love with watercolour. Like a fish, watercolour loves to move and dive 😊✏️🎨🖍🌺

With as much time as i spend on you tube watching art tutorials and reviews i cant believe you just came up on my tablet. Time wasted and i dont have alot of time. I used to teach oils and havent painted with watercolor for about 55 years barring a quick couple of lessons about 45 years ago. I love your classes. To bad you are having technical difficulties. Will be binge watching because of those i have watched...i am impressed. ( Especially since you arnt selling me on something i dont need...i now have 18 different brands of artist quality watercolor and enough to last my lifetime...even if i live to be 100.) Just adding a comment on my Sunday review for the week. I bought some new watercolor paints this week. I bought some Windsor Newton paints from Amazon. They were called used, but they were never opened. There are 12 of them, and they were about $10.00. I love the colors. Now I can paint to my hearts content!

Been painting with watercolor for about a year but still have no clue....I think I just don’t practice enough, most fun making shapes or just blobbing, splashing wet on wet, love blooms, love the hard lines and love the smooth stuff too, my favorite paint so far is mission gold! The color is phenomenal! But I just started using watercolor ink too, and that is SUPER bright!

Thank you for all the tutorials, they are very useful!!! I bought your first book last year. I'm a beginner, I've painted for about 10 months now. Until recently I used 2 cops of water, but lately I use 3 -- the third one is small, for the yellows. Because yellow is a very sensitive color and it gets "contaminated" easily. Especially Lemon Yellow, which I use a lot.

Hello 👋. I’m in Cooperstown NY where it’s a beautiful, though brisk, summer day. My primary creative outlet these days is pottery, mostly hand building, and I’ve recently done a few calligraphy workshops recently - that’s why I bought some watercolors! Good class. i'm watching this even if its over a year old because of the quality and the great tips too especially about getting good supplies. i went the route of mid quality thinking its for practice anyway and i didnt want to "waste" good paper but actually that wasnt such a great choice as it made painting much more difficult and frustrating. so after trouble shooting i started with upping my paper quality and then brushes. i had good paint and will finish with that as i have Windsor Newton waiting to use.Thanks again. I have totally stocked my art area with all kinds of watercolor tools and supplies including beginner books and I just realized that I have your book! I’ve been practicing for about a month with sketching and painting my own sketches and it’s amazing how I continue to improve. I lovvvvvvvvve Princeton Brushes, especially the 4050 line! Hello, I just found this channel after searching for "watercolor painting". I've watched a little, and I love that you emphasize practice and brush stroke drills. I did the totems and leaves--it was fun! I've tried watercolor a few times over my life (60 now), but was frustrated with what I produced, so I gave up. I'm going to rest in the place of brush technique practice and fun! Later I will try very simple paintings.

This class was so much fun! I've never painted a sky before and although mine is not like yours (by a long way) I'm still thrilled with it. I also very much enjoyed painting the leaves--up to now, my efforts to pain leaves were not very successful. And all the extra tips you shared! Wow! Thank you so much!

Excellent technique descriptions. Easy to follow.. The most important thing for new painters to remember is: practice, practice, practice-and be patient. The results are worth it. :)
