I don't think anyone will care BUT the reason the Titanic sank is BECAUSE it was such a clear night (this is in response to Julien saying that there's no way the captain couldn't see the iceberg because it was such a clear night, as recorded in history). The captain and the two lookouts couldn't distinguish between where the water stopped and the sky started because the horizon meshed as a result of the reflection of the stars on the still water. This created an optical illusion that made everything look like the stars and created this weird mental veil, hence why the lookouts could only see the iceberg when it was right in front of the ship. They tried to turn but ended up scraping the side of the ship. If the boat hadn't turned, the ship and its passengers (most, anyway) would have survived, because the ship was STATE OF THE ART for its time. The front of the boat was prepared for such a collision. There are records of many people saying that it was such a clear night and that the horizon could not be distinguished because the stars never stopped going. I think this is really interesting and should be noted.
@nocturne2029
@nocturne2029 6 жыл бұрын
yeah clear nights and calm waters to that extend are kind of a nightmare for sailors, beyond what you mentioned it's also hard to see icebergs because there are no whitecaps at the base from waves hitting it.
@Bubble170
@Bubble170 6 жыл бұрын
Turning was the right move. The impact of hitting an iceberg would’ve not only thrown the passengers into walls and objects without their control, it would’ve sent reverberations down the entire length of the ship and likely ripping the Rivets etc. Which would expose more compartments to the sea, sinking it faster. The front of the ship was built to stand impacts against other boats, not an iceberg. Icebergs are nowhere near as malleable as metal. There’s a very slight chance the ship would’ve floated for longer, but more people would’ve died from being flung around the boat, and ramming into what is essentially solid rock at 22 knots is a RIDICULOUS idea.

100% believe that William Shakespeare was not the actual writer of the plays. However, I have never heard about the Bacon theory but it is interesting. One of the main things that convinced me while taking a mythology class is my professor has studied the writings of Shakespeare and studied the inaccuracies of Shakespeare's upbringing and the way he actually wrote. Like in the Rape of Lucrece, Shakespeare describes the room where Lucrece was raped in great detail and the room is an actual room in Italy, but the thing is Shakespeare supposedly never really traveled around and there would have been no way he could describe the room in such detail unless he had seen it which doesn't correlate with his timeline or his background.

I think the Titanic conspiracy is worth more research. Julien was thrown off, understandably, but the theory is that the Olympic was sunk, under the name of the Titanic, but that the Titanic never left the dock. Because the boats were so similar looking, people had no idea at the time that they were actually boarding the Olympic, with the goal being to sink the Olympic for insurance money and to start over building a new ship, while they also still had the Titanic, a brand new ship being disguised as the Olympic. If you look at old pictures of the ships, you can tell that the ship that left under the disguise of the Titanic was actually the Olympic. There is just so much to know about this theory!

From what I know of the Titanic/Olympic conspiracy, the people all boarded the Olympic, which had been re-painted so the name said Titanic.... They crashed the shitty ship, collected the insurance money, and kept the new ship (the real Titanic). I saw (possibly in one of Shane's videos but I'm not sure) that when they found the wreck of the "Titanic" there was a potion of the hull found where some of the painted letters from the original name, "Olympic," are visible. Also, pictures of the "Titanic" as it was about to set sail show it having 16 portholes, not 14 (which Julien started to bring up, but forgot to actually mention) Apparently all of the REALLY high-up rich people that had tickets for the voyage were informed of this, as they all cancelled their plans and did not board the ship.

MaybeFN2187 It is said that when both ships were docked in Belfast (the damaged Olympic was out of commission & the Titanic, newly built awaiting it's maiden voyage) & that is when the switch took place. They replaced Olympics broken propeller blade with Titanic's working propeller blade & swapped the names of the ship. There's a really interesting documentary on KZbin that explains everything. It's about 45 mins long but definitely worth a watch if you have any interest in the Titanic or conspiracy theories. :)

Just something interesting: There are several accounts of authenticated autographs of Shakespeare and it's true that he spelled his name differently every time. While this may cause people to think he was illiterate, it is important to note, however, that the English spelling system was not yet regulated and many people would spell their names differently every time they wrote it. It was a common thing (according to my English professors). So that does not necessarily point to illiteracy. Jenna didn't suggest he was illiterate because of this, but some people do, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Titanic was always set out to sink! From what I know, White Star Line was commissioned building of Olympic and Titanic was her sister ship. But as Julien rightly mentioned it was a massive insurance scam. The events weren’t laid out clearly. When Olympic had a collision with ‘The hulk’ a war ship, its central propellers were damaged it tilted towards the left. But because they lost the lawsuit they wouldn’t get the funds to repair Olympic or even finish Titanic. Titanic was set to be the biggest commercial ship. Another thing to note was that the ships names weren’t mentioned on the Olympic or the almost complete Titanic, however they were mentioned on few places but these were easily swappable. The insurance guy of the company came up with a plan they fairly repaired the Olympic and because these ships looked very similar they decided to set out Olympic as Titanic. But this didn’t go as planned because while it sank the ship started to drift away from a already assigned recuse ship, therefore, the number of people that died was way more than anticipated. Also, a survivor who was part of the Olympic voyage and Titanic ( Brave soul i may say, who boards a ship company with such a bad reputation ) claimed as the “Titanic” sank it tilted towards the left (like the Olympic). So, in the end this company recovered the money and completed the real Titanic and this ship continued it’s life as the Olympic. So, yeah. Also, Julien and Jenna if guys see this, I really appreciate you two, fam! Also, there are a lot of documentaries on this and a book too, I guess.

another thing about the titanic/olympic theory, if you are fortunate enough to find a picture of the titanic on the ocean floor where you can see the windows, you'll notice something. One key difference between the titanic and the olympic is, that the windows on the second or third from the top floor, on the side, are uneven size and are not evenly spaced. Unlike on the titanic where they are all the same size and equal distance from one another. In the pictures of the titanic on the ocean floor, if you look close enough through all the stuff that has grown on the windows, you will notice that they show the olympic characteristic, not the titanic

This is old but if anyone ends up seeing this then whatever, but John Lang the man who was stabbed and died in a fire. There are multiple reports that his home was barricaded from the inside, front door, back door, kitchen windows. He had 3 superficial (not longer than 1.5 inches) stab wounds to the anterior thoracic cage (upper chest) and the only possibly damaging wound would be a slight entry into the heart's right ventricle however it did not go all the way through. The man also had security cameras INSIDE his home, and upon reviewing of the footage, the cameras all stopped recording the day before and in fact showed him the day before holding a kitchen knife, walking to another room. Then shortly after you see him coming to turn off the cameras. I think this was a possible scenario definitely, but in this case this guy was having some insane delusions.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you’re kind of confused about the Titanic conspiracy theory. This, incidentally, is one of the few conspiracy theories I actually am apt to buy because it’s not only possible, it actually makes sense. The theory is that the ships were swapped and the ship that crashed was actually the Olympic. The two ships were swapped because the Olympic was basically a useful, uninsurable big tin can at that point. Presenting it as the Titanic meant that not only could they insure it, but they could then sink it, collect the money, and still have a good ship for future sailings. It is well known that the two ships were practically identical. It’s also well known that crew members of the Olympic who transferred to the Titanic mentioned “still” not liking that ship, indicating they may have picked up on the scam. Also, it’s recorded in the inquest hearings after the Titanic sinking that White Star Line executives repeatedly erroneously referred to the Titanic as the Olympic. Part of the theory is also that no one was supposed to die. The Californian, another ship owned by White Star Line, set sail a few days prior to the Titanic with nothing but 2,000 sweaters, blankets, and life jackets on board. This is significant because at the time there was a coal strike. Most ships then were powered with coal. This meant it was very expensive to send a practically empty ship on a cross Atlantic journey and, therefore, made no financial sense. The theory is that the Californian was sent to save the passengers of the Titanic. The captain of the Californian, oddly, once reaching certain coordinates ordered his crew to keep the engines at the ready but to stop the ship He then sat out on the deck and repeatedly asked about red and blue flares. As the theory goes he had been instructed to wait for red and blue flares and respond accordingly to the distress call of them, meaning pick up the Titanic’s passengers. He did eventually see flares in the sky. But they were white. So they did not respond to them, which did not turn out to be the big mistake because the flares he was seeing were actually the flares of the ship of an illegal seal hunting crew calling it’s hunting crews back to the main ship. The crux of where the Titanic/Olympic swap went wrong is that either Captain Smith of the Titanic or the Captain of the Californian got his coordinates mixed up, because the ships were actually 16 miles apart, which is why the captain of the Californian did not see the flares sent off by the Titanic and, therefore, did not respond. This error is what led to the deaths of so many passengers and is where the plan went horribly wrong. Also, incidentally, in regard to Shakespeare, leaving someone a second best bed would actually have been a compliment, not an insult, at the time. But I do think there is a strong chance that "William Shakespeare" was merely the pen name of a collaborative of playwrights and poets who wrote for The Globe Theater and that the owner of the the Globe theater at his demand that pen name be used in order to be compensated by him for their work or to have it performed by the troupe. I do believe it's possible that they presented a "face" of Shakespeare. But that person did not actually write a single work presented as that of Shakespeare.

@cattanic494
@cattanic494 2 жыл бұрын
@@ricecake3215 ok if you want more evidence I’ll give it to you Here’s why it would be impossible to switch Titanic with Olympic: 1. The Titanic and Olympic had MAJOR differences that people would’ve noticed, like how Olympic had a open A deck promenade while Titanic had a half inclosed one. B deck on the Olympic was a promenade while on Titanic it was full of 1st class cabins, which would be impossible to switch. The wheel house on Olympic was round and on Titanic’s it’s flat, same with the bridge wing, Olympic’s was flat and Titanic’s stuck out. Each ship had a yard number which would be stamped every where on a ship to show what number it was, Olympic’s was 400 while Titanic’s was 401 if they did switch it that would mean they would have to take out EVERYTHING inside the ships which would be impossible, plus the wreck has 401 all over it. The Olympic had no cafe parisen while Titanic did Titanic had a bigger 2nd class dinning room. 2. The ships were only together for 44 days which is not enough time to switch them. 3. Titanic was heavily under insured so by sinking her on purpose they would be losing money not making it. 4. People say that a Titanic “survivor” claimed the theory was true but if you look more into it you would find out that that survivor wasn’t even on the Titanic 5. On the Titanic wreck every thing matches with the Titanic’s design not the Olympic 6. And finally this theory originated from a book called “the Titanic secret” Walter Lloyd the person who came up with this theory has stated this theory is is not true and was not meant to be taken seriously, it was written as a joke but then people started to take it seriously.

Shakespeare left his second best bed to his wife because all of Shakespeare's life they slept on the first best bed. By the point of his death, the first best bed was very worn out and not actually that comfortable anymore. The second best bed was for guests and very rarely slept on, and never for long periods at a time. Therefore, at this point, the second best bed /was/ the first best bed. Usually upon the death of the father, the son would be given the second best bed, so Shakespeare made it abundantly clear that the second best bed would be going to his wife so she could be comfortable for the rest of her life. #romance

Even some professors (the good ones lol) would drop hints about him not being the master behind himself..if he did write it alone Etc. It makes more sense to me of how a conspiracy on this level could hold up if it was F. Bacon b/c he had the intelligence and the resources to make sure it stuck as best he could and the works are still heard of and presented as Shakespeare. I wanted to hear more about if he is also behind the poetry though..

Fuck I wish all my English teachers would hear the first theory about Shakespeare. I honestly never believed he wrote any of his plays when we first started learning about him. No fucking way a random ass dude can come out of nowhere and write these plays and works and it just blow up like that. If Shakespeare was a normal guy, he'd had noooo idea of what half the words he used meant just like the masses of people nor would he know the inner workings of court. I thought I had a good grasp on our system until I actually started taking classes about it and Shakespeare didn't take any prior literacy classes nor law classes so what the fuck? When I pointed this out to one of my English teachers he got sooo pissed cause he worships the ground Shakespeare walks on.

I have another conspiracy theory for you: Sir Francis Bacon became jealous of Shakespeare because his works were reaching acclaim, while not as many of the commonwealth appreciated Bacon's works. Bacon or his colleagues (I don't actually know if Shakespeare died before or after Bacon) started the rumor that Shakespeare (WH) didn't actually write his works. They capitalized off of the notion that information and history were not regularly written down. 100 years after WH's death, a biography was written to subtextually follow the idea that WH did not write his works. The rest is history. (Also, about the anagram in Love Labours Lost-phrases, lines and words have been changed in a few of WH's works, most of which occurred after his death. Could be one of Bacon's crew messing with words after the fact. #illuminaticonfirmed

I study literature and I thought I'd debunk some of the arguments that were brought up about Shakespeare. This doesn't mean that I debunked the conspiracy, I can't prove if he was a real person or not, however there are some problems with the things that were mentioned here. So, if anyone's interested, come on along :) So, first of all, there are letters by Shakespeare and letters sent to Shakespeare, they exist and they are preserved for the world to see, just look them up. There aren't many, but this isn't exactly a huge problem because back in his time letters and stuff like that weren't being preserved carefully. The next thing that is just spewing nonsense is Shakespeare's will: it is absolutely normal for a person in the 16th century not to assume that he needed to put his texts into his will. The idea of copyright only dates back into the 1700s in England (Shakespeare died in 1616) and the idea of ownership of texts or other things that weren't physical property was just not a thing. That's why we have codices from the medieval and renaissance period with basically no authors' names on it, that's why compilation was an acceptable genre in earlier times (a compilation basically just puts a bunch of texts into the same book without giving credit to the authors, or if the authors' names are in there, it's because the author himself is famous in his time, like Plato or Socrates etc.) Shakespeare was most probably not illiterate, these claims come from the idea that there is no surviving documentation about his education. However, a bunch of people around that time are the same way, there are authors whom we know next to nothing about, it's just that Shakespeare is famous. Also, there are no people from Shakespeare's time documented to have any doubts about Shakespeare's writing capabilities, but there are documents of people sending him letters. He has some weird signatures, but it is important to know and to note that in that time period there was no widespread English grammar, only a few people knew how to write and the writing wasn't uniform so there are many ways in which a person could write even their own name, it wasn't so clear and set into stone as it is today. This, again, can be observed with more than one author from that period, and not even just from the English community. And with the use of stylometrics it was pointed out that Shakespeare did write his plays, there are distinct characteristics of his writing which are consistent through all of his works and they do not match the characteristics of Bacon's or other people's writing habits. This test also concluded that Shakespeare did write a few of his plays together with other people, but it was easy for people to see the two different styles working together and one of the styles always matched the one that we associate with Shakespeare. For example, he worked together with Christopher Marlowe on a couple plays, but he is not the same as Marlowe. Also, actual inquires about Shakespeare being real or him writing all of his stuff only arose in the 1850s, until then it wasn't even questioned. The legal errors Jenna mentions are pretty easy to debunk: law was very different back then, punishments for criminal activity were public, stuff like beheading, whipping, etc, they were a spectacle for people so it's safe to assume that most people were familiar with such basic punishments as death by hanging etc. Another obviously ill-informed thing is that the people whom Jenna mentioned are people who knew Shakespeare. I'll just leave you with every single name she mentioned: Mark Twain's book, Is Shakespeare Dead?, is mostly satiric, although Twain does try to go into details and see if there is any proof to what is being said. His curiosity is sincere, but he has no proof or even an actual stance on the issue. Also Mark Twain is an American writer, 1836-1910 and Is Shakespeare dead? was published in 1905. Walt Whitman is an American writer, 1818-1892, Henry James is a modernist, 1843-1916, Sigmund Freud is an Austrian psychoanalist whose theories have all been either debunked or surpassed by science at this point, Ralph Waldo Emerson is also an American writer, 1803-1882. From what I've understood, these conspiracies come largely from the USA entangled with conspiracies about secret societies such as the Illuminati or the Freemasons. So it's really not Lady Gaga and Jay-Z calling out Britney. It's like Lady Gaga and Jay-Z calling out Marlene Dietrich or something. The fact that he wasn't celebrated like that after he died is also normal, the idea of the author as a celebrity or the author as a public figure also only started emerging in the 1800s. There are a lot more details about Bacon because he was not only a writer but also a politician, working for the court and even against the court sometimes. So, it's actually quite normal for monuments and biographies to only come out after a longer period of time. The statue, I assume, is a joke.

And here's a little thing about the cipher Jenna has mentioned. It dates back to Dante. This is the word: Honorificabilitudinitatibus, it is a hapax legomenon which means that it's a word that only appears in the language once or very very few times. I was too lazy to type everything up about it, but here's a short thing I've taken from Wikipedia. As you can probably see from these things, it is a pretty big stretch to begin with and it is debunked by Shakespeare himself. The word has been used by adherents of the Baconian theory who believe Shakespeare's plays were written in steganographic cypher by Francis Bacon. In 1905 Isaac Hull Platt argued that it was an anagram for hi ludi, F. Baconis nati, tuiti orbi, Latin for "these plays, F. Bacon's offspring, are preserved for the world".[2][full citation needed] His argument was given wide circulation by Edwin Durning-Lawrence in 1910, complete with a cryptonumerical attempt to prove it justified.[3] The anagram assumes that Bacon would have Latinized his name as "Baco" (the genitive case of which is "Baconis") rather than, as Samuel Schoenbaum argues, "Baconus", with genitive "Baconi".[4] It is far from the only possible anagram. In 1898, Paget Toynbee noted that the word contains a glorification of Dante by himself as its letters could be rearranged to form the phrase Ubi Italicus ibi Danti honor fit (Where there is an Italian, there honour is paid to Dante).[5][6] In the 1970s, John Sladek noted that the word could also be anagrammatized as I, B. Ionsonii, uurit [writ] a lift'd batch, thus "proving" that Shakespeare's works were written by Ben Jonson.[citation needed][a] In 2012, in a column for the Calcutta Telegraph, Stephen Hugh-Jones mocked it with the deliberately anachronistic "If I built it in, is author ID Bacon?", attributing this to a derisive William Shakespeare; and counter-"proved" that Shakespeare wrote Bacon by converting the latter's famous opening phrase "What is truth, said jesting Pilate..." into "Truth? A lasting jape. Hide it. WS
