i am old and have been knitting since i was 4 (over 60years) and i have been making 4 needle mittens for the grandkids...one thing i always do when knitting in the round is add an extra stitch to my cast on and when i start the round i slip that extra stitch on to my my first needle and knit two together, to form the circle..it gives added strength and makes the work seamless.. try it!

Note to self for my poor work memory: 112 stitches 🕒 K2 P2 for 6 rows Continental ✅ Turn off animal crossing ✅ Take chin stitches off on scrap yarn 🥴 Change needles for stockinette 🤔 but to what needle? From what needle? 25 stockinette then decrease Each side count to 35 Add stitch marker Ssk , left leaning do i need to slip or just knit two together like i usually do? How many do i decrease? One per row? 16 rows No decreasing in the back Wait what is the gauge of this? And how long wire? Remove scrap yarn.. wait how do i add scrap yarn? Ssk hey that was not continental jenna 😠😭 I like sewing though Head portion done Dipsy looks fire Wait what is happening? Oh the chin part? Brb gonna call my grandma and ask her to knit in my acrylic and cotton yarn Update: she acrylic shamed me, i´m on my own 🫠 I just use my fingers when casting off oops Wait i don´t do long tail cast on, i knit them, will this make the head hole less stretchy?

Hi jenna, I recommend you try out flicking. I use flicking & continental both. Continental uses more or my left hand, flicking uses more of right hand, so I switch between them whenever my hands get tired, and honestly, I am slightly faster and better tension control with flicking.

I hold my yarn when knitting the same way I hold my yarn when I crochet. I knit continental style and combination (eastern and western variations sometimes). NEED HELP ahahah!
@lagabrielaa2 жыл бұрын
@@catherineboudreau8399 What I did was take one stich that was set aside on my knit row, and knit together, then when I had to purl the other side I took another stich from the set aside section and incorporated. love this video, and I can't wait to try the pattern with some thrifted merino silk yarn I found a month ago. I like alternating between continental and english throwing, and I find that my wrists don't fatigue as much this way. I would recommend that you try to learn the twisted german cast on for stretchy things like hats and the balaclava. It is very similar to long tail cast-on except you twist a loop to add some yarn to the cast on, which makes it more stretchy!!

Hi! beginner knitter here, I was wondering when you switch needle sizes and begin the stocking stitch for the head of the Balaclava how do you skip the chin section without large strings hanging across it from the extended rows? Do you flip your work around and then continue from the other size to avoid the chin space?

I am also super confused by this! I was hoping someone would answer by now lol
@danielamicic36672 жыл бұрын
Hi! I think I found a solution to this issue (I struggled a lot with it too). From what I’m understanding, you have to “take” the 16 stitches of the chin section from you right needle (where you have the yarn that you use to knit). So then you can start knitting every stitches on the left needle. Since the pattern is 1 row knit, 1 row purl, 1 row knit, 1 row purl etc. You have to turn your work after finishing every row. So you no longer knit in a circle, it’s like knitting with regular needles. Hope this helps!

you cast on 112 stitches (2:40) and then you take out 16 for the chin (7:50), that means you are left with 96. After taking out 35 on either side you are left with 26 in the middle. Then you do a decrease on each side on every knit row for 8 knit rows (alltogether 16 knit and purl rows) which means -2 stiches x 8 = -16 stiches. so 26 - 16 = 10 Hope this helped:)
